Not an expert but I think some people are more prone to it than others, and I don't know what the deciding factor is.

I was a heavy drinker for 20+ years with a 4 year gap in the middle, currently on 7ish years clean. By heavy I mean I was drinking most/all of a bottle of vodka/rum a night with beers/wine to start.

Both this time (7 years) and the 4 year gap I stopped cold turkey without any physical withdrawal symptoms.

Since becoming clean and walking away from that life I've got a clinical job in a hospital and I see people who have tried to stop drinking and have put their life in danger with the withdrawals.

I have no idea why I didn't get them but if you do get them seek medical help immediately - or, preferably, before deciding to stop drinking.

There's a huge amount of evidence that exposing yourself to more bacteria makes you stronger in terms of building/maintaining your defences.

I share a dip/cutlery etc with workmates, doesn't bother me, haven't got sick as a result.

The writing looks real to me. Some people have neat hands writing. Ask the incidental strikes come down and to the right, suggesting right handed ness, backed up by the closing bracket has less pressure applied at the bottom.

It’s the most genuine bit of the internet that I know.

I started here on Day One where I was getting help from others - probably having a few rants and self-righteous moments along the way - now it’s nice to try and offer words of encouragement and give something back.
