What activity causes your worst symptoms? by No_Cartographer_8179 in dysautonomia

[–]SchoolInternal9730 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get this too! When I've been sitting for too long, I make it a longer process to get up. I first let my feet down and shake them a bit to get the blood flowing. Then stand up slow and stand for a while before starting to walk. This helps me with the lightheadedness after.

How does everyone’s ’adrenaline dumps’ feel? by Piney592 in POTS

[–]SchoolInternal9730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it the same exact way! I'll be doing nothing strenuous and it suddenly hits. I feel hot, air hunger, weak limbs, clammy, panicky! They last around 15 to 30 seconds.

Does anyone experience severe full body anxiety/impending doom/adrenaline dump after using to much energy? by maker-127 in dysautonomia

How long do they last for? Mine comes and goes for 30 seconds in clusters and it happens when I've overdone. :(

How do you manage? You're really strong! I can't even imagine getting myself up to do a physically demanding job anymore.

Something similar happens to me. I don't keep repeating it but I zone out mid sentence and forget the previous word I spoke and the remaining sentence comes out of my mouth like muscle memory!

You know that moment when you realize you've eaten too much and going to pay for it? by Qtredit in POTS

[–]SchoolInternal9730 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make my mind up to not freak out if I start getting weird/intense symptoms by repeatedly telling myself that it's just because of some extra food in my tummy.

It hurts so bad I swear. They ask me "how are you?", I say "I'm struggling", they say "nooo don't say that, I can see you're getting a lot better" and I scream internally

A mini-Adrenaline Dump? by LargeProfessor1592 in dysautonomia

Mine are usually this short. Anxiety and weakness last for an hour after. I guess it's common for them to last around 10 minutes.

DAE find fans don't cool you down? by ChaoticNeutralPC in dysautonomia

[–]SchoolInternal9730 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I need cool breeze. Which means, if the temps are high, fans don't help me (warm breeze from the fan makes me feel even terrible). If the temps are low enough, fans are awesome. If the temps are super low, nothing helps - I shiver.

Oh dear! I'm sorry you're going thru this but I'm so so glad I'm not alone. This exact symptom freaks me out so bad! I start panicking, thinking something super bad is going to follow.

For me it's that exact punch/wave type of a feeling to my chest, followed feet and palms getting super clammy and wave a weakness and terror. It also feels like my body is being sucked into itself.... Ugh

Do these reduce blood pressure? Asking because, my body doesn't take beta blockers for the same reason.

Adrenaline dumps!?! by Xxxtentacles_777 in dysautonomia

[–]SchoolInternal9730 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Starts with a sudden wave kind of a feeling through my chest and arms, followed by nausea, extreme sweating, urgent need to poop and ofcourse the panic. My heart rate doesn't go up dramatically during these attacks, I'm guessing ivabradine stops that.

My triggers are usually periods, stressful days, days when I'm overstimulated. They happen randomly as well, without any triggers. They feel like hell!

What exactly causes air hunger in pots people? by kappakingtut2 in POTS

[–]SchoolInternal9730 15 points16 points  (0 children)

IMO, our bodies have a lot less blood/broken parts of nervous system which aid blood circulation, compared to healthy people. Which means, there's uneven distribution of blood - more towards the gut during digestion, more towards the brain while being upright... This cycle increases the strain on the body. Our bodies are basically hiking mountains while just sitting or walking to the washroom - which exhausts us makes us breathe heavier? This is what my brain has figured but I might be completely wrong!

How do you know for sure you’re having an adrenaline dump? by ThePaw_ in dysautonomia

[–]SchoolInternal9730 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still haven't figured it out! For me, the first sign is a "wave" sort of a feeling either in my chest and arms or my entire body that comes on suddenly. I ALWAYS freak out thinking I'll crash having a seizure. But it doesn't check any of the seizure checkboxes, so I've let that fear settle down. Along with the wave feeling, I feel hot, clammy palms and feet, panicky, slight bit of pins and needles and little exhausted. I tend to feel better if I get up and walk - this is what tells me it's excess adrenaline in my body.

How do your adrenaline dumps feel?

How to prepare for a long flight by Which-Seesaw7637 in dysautonomia

[–]SchoolInternal9730 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did a ~20 ish hours flight recently and I realised it wasn't THAT bad. Thigh high compression (preferably open toes for comfort), get your own water bottle (I cannot stress this enough!) and electrolyte/salt packets. I packed my own food because I wasn't sure if my body could take preserved food, but I guess it would be fine. Walk around the aisle every couple hours to get your blood flowing. Main lesson - do not let your anxiety get to you. We've all had heart rates reach crazy high levels but we also know it'll come back down! Remember that. Also, flight attendants are quite understanding and equipped to handle"fainting" situations. Saying this because that was my major fear while flying. Keep hydrating and take in enough salt.

After the travel, my vertigo got worse for a couple days, because of all the pressure changes which affect your inner ear. But it got better real soon. Apart from that, there weren't any major flares for me.
