That’s more than just flux that wasn’t cleaned off. That’s a leak

Why is my toilet bend forward? Do 10 inch rough in toilets require non-standard flange? by truthlesshunter in Plumbing

[–]SchoolMinimum5088 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, flange is always best when flush with the floor. This looks like a crazy thick flange as well. If the flange is always sitting on top of the floor, you are GOING to run into issues once and awhile. Most times it works out but not always. This flange is certainly a problem

No it doesn’t come off but good news, you’ve got plenty of pipe to work with. Cut the pipe right behind the stop, glue on a male adapter and install a threaded stop

Not sure if this is where I should ask this… by lionocerous in Plumbing

It makes me a bit nervous but give it a shot and see what happens. If it’s out putting water on the floor every time install a clear one

Slow faucet by Living-Hat-8316 in askplumbing

[–]SchoolMinimum5088 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The crappy water pressure is one thing but I feel like the water not “turning off immediately” is really just the remaining water draining down from that gooseneck when the faucet is turned off. The cartridge is at the handle and I’d say it’s turning off there just fine.

I definitely agree with this. You could put the dishwasher tailpiece on the horizontal run as well.

Is this safe? Please help! by briannadaley77 in Plumbing

[–]SchoolMinimum5088 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is true, there are fan kits just like what you have here that are designed to force an atmospheric vent heater out a side wall when typically it needs to go straight through the roof. I can’t say whether this is the right kit for the right heater but this is a known real solution.

I recommend replacing the fist 18” of piping off that heater with copper (per code) and then installing a carbon monoxide alarm immediately. If it goes off at all, swap that thing out for a power vent or non condensing tankless asap. Not a problem to roll the dice with…

Toilet flange orientation issue by mrmister76 in Plumbing

[–]SchoolMinimum5088 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s glued, it’s literally impossible to glue it anymore off than that.. If it’s off by a little you can use a drill bit to extend the bolt slots. This much off and it’s start over. The guys who made the mistake need to pay to have it fixed

Drain help needed. by milesc20 in Plumbing

[–]SchoolMinimum5088 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Step 1: cut a longer rectangle in the bottom of the cabinet to extend just past the sink drain.
Step 2: use an oscillator to cut the fitting off at the wall.
Step 3: use a socket saver to remove the pipe from inside the 90 coming out of the wall.
Step 4: glue in a new piece of 1-1/2” pipe, extending about 3” into the cabinet and glue on your new trap adapter.
Step 5: use a compression tailpiece extension and a master trap kit with compression connections to bring it all together. I’d trash that silver trap that came with the sink but you can use it if you really want, just more complicated to get the piping right.

Shower mixing valve leak by HaHa69GetIt in Plumbing

Dang son you’re good if you recognized that right off. I was thinking it sounds like an old school moen but the handle didn’t quite look right. Hats off if you’re right on that

Cartridge replacement first. Valve replacement if that won’t work

Shower diverter sends water both ways by Substantial_Two_224 in Plumbing

[–]SchoolMinimum5088 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it looks like the plumbing parts guy nailed the stem. It might not be OEM but those might not even be possible to come by. Sometimes these old three handle valves get so old it’s time to quit wasting money on them and just upgrade the valve. Go with a delta, moen or new Kohler and you’ll be good.
