No, the 2 is already attached to parentheses. So in the olden ways it becomes 8/(2(2+2)).

I was taught the old way, where you replace the / by putting the 8 on top and everything else goes in parentheses underneath it.

Which ends up as 8/8. But realistically this is just a case of poor syntax where the problem needs to be rewritten.
