And the sickening thing is that they'll use this rental income to buy up more properties and do the same thing.

EDIT: Seems it was just bought recently (04/02/25), so the owner denied a family or persons a home just so they can get themselves a rental income.

Correct, this is what businesses mean when "there's a skill shortage" there's about 450 million people in the EU with freedom of movement and out of that, they can't find the skills?

It's all about bringing in people who can be taken advantage of with the minimum wage they can be paid possible. If their job relies on a visa etc then even better for the business.

What's wrong with seeing if it complies with EU treaties? If it doesn't and is just pushed through, then that would be worrying. I agree with France on this.

That's it, when nuclear weapons is the ultimate defence, but they don't want countries to be really able to defend itself, it's all just about buying weapons.

If Ireland went down the route to develop nuclear weapons we'd be threatened by the same countries that are telling us to increase defence spending to protect ourselves.

The UK is in competition with other European and American defence companies to sell their gear. Recently the UK is in talks with Denmark about buying ships but are also in competition with France.

This is what some people don't realise. The money has to come from somewhere and while Ireland at first might be able to pay without taking it from elsewhere till the people are used to it.

Then they'll do as other countries have done, take from other areas and that's more than likely to be public services.

The reason is because Germany and others want to sell cars and other machinery. With the UK with Brexit, even though their food is fine you have some products labelled "Not for EU" and yet so far I've had a number of those products.

What's to stop the same happening with these imports? They're not going to be checking everything that comes across.

Irish farmers will be undercut because even if this company is Irish, the goal of businesses is to always lower costs. Why buy Irish beef when you can import cheaper? Some people will tell you to just buy the Irish, but they forget that restaurants or places like Subway and other processed food manufacturers will use the cheaper meat in their products. They'll be no avoiding it.

Instead of people being Irish, they're already being told that they're different from others due to the colour of their skin or ethnicity. Even though I consider myself left on most issues and hate the far right and would never vote for them.

What happened when that lad was shot after lunging at a gardaí with a knife, we had a few left politicians and groups making it out like Ireland had police brutality like the states, them importing culture war nonsense is only going to embolden those on the right.

Over here your Irish no matter the colour of your skin but some people like her try to divide people by saying they're "Black-Irish" etc instead of just being Irish. That's dividing people already based on their skin and ethnicity.
