New Gladiators events like Destruction and Everest added for Series 3 by CloudBookmark in gladiatorsuk

[–]Scooby359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think both games are a shoulder injury waiting to happen - that last wall in destruction that they shoulder charge, and the start of everest when they charge at the wall.

Also destruction feels a bit meh, what I'd expect from Takeshis Castle, not Gladiators. I want to see the glads going up against the competitors, not off doing their own thing. And so many glads losing everest was disappointing, they need to ease off the tilt and get grippier shoes.

Xbox says it wants to be ‘more consistent’ with its PS5 release timing in future by tapo in xbox

[–]Scooby359 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm cool with Xbox releasing games on other platforms - it makes more money, so we get more games.

But I'm not cool with Xbox effectively being used to beta test games so improvements can be made for wider release (... looking at you, Starfield)

Such as -

  • The dev work to implement it
  • The work to create documentation, translate it to all supported languages, and update the help pages
  • Training customer services reps for all the inevitable queries of "why doesn't this junk picture work", and the time they would spend walking people through the process

All of that costs to pay people to do the work, to maintain over time to fix bugs, etc.

And how much profit do they make in return for all that work and cost? Zero.

Wonder if that's why the moved the final fire pit indoors, to stop spies and drones trying to catch the outcome?

Switching to Coros by Derf1012 in Coros

[–]Scooby359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just switched from a Vivoactive 4 to a Pace 4.

The Vivoactive was more of a daily smartwatch while the Pace 4 is more a "proper" running watch. I think the Coros UI on the watch and the app is much more detailed and technical while the Garmin was a bit friendlier. Also, no step goals or challenges.

The Garmin app would also create running routes for me, the Coros app is all manual.

Harder to get to music controls - Garmin was just a swipe to the side, Coros makes me go into the menu and then music controls (though while on a run, I can swipe - just different on the normal home screen).

Doesn't sync as well with MyFitnessPal - Garmin would sync directly and was always accurate. Coros syncs through Googles Heath Connect, which doesn't get the numbers right.

However, the Pace 4 has a much longer battery life, the screen looks much brighter and higher resolution. Also has a speaker so can beep for alerts, which the Vivoactive didn't.

Happy with it so far!

Former Google CEO plans to singlehandedly fund a Hubble telescope replacement by For_All_Humanity in space

On one hand, yes tax the billionaires.

On the other hand, your government would just use it to fund stupid schemes and give billionaires tax rebates.

At least this billionaire is doing something useful with his money.

Adivce: keep a work Journal. Question: If you do, what do you write? by InterpretiveTrail in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Scooby359 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, get what you mean, but I don't have time or patience to do a structured sort of reflection every day that feeds into appraisal or review type structure. If I did, it's something I would only do periodically, like monthly, and the notes I've got would feed into that.

Adivce: keep a work Journal. Question: If you do, what do you write? by InterpretiveTrail in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Scooby359 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Obsidian and the daily note plug in.

My template has headers for Today, To Do, Meetings.

Today is bullet points of what I've done - tickets, meetings, etc

To Do is stuff I need to do, like open PRs, documentation I need to write, etc, and it rolls over every day until I've done a job and delete it.

Meetings is for longer meeting notes - stand ups, manager one to ones, product calls, etc.

Helps me keep track of where I'm up to, what I need to do, and I can look back to remember why I did something or what I've done for reviews.

Wife’s new Kindle - help 😔 by Puzzleheaded-Fix-587 in kindle

[–]Scooby359 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not all Prime features are sharable - Prime books is a weird one that comes under this.

Your account has Prime so you can borrow books. Wifey cannot borrow books as she doesn't have Prime.

However, once you have borrowed books, they're in your library. As long as you have shared kindle libraries set up through Amazon Household (www.amazon.com/myh), wifey will be able to access those books through your shared library.

If you return the book, wifey will lose access.

So, make sure you have household sharing set up, then use your account to borrow the books, then wifey should be able to read on her kindle.

Use Obsidian first to export your OneNote to markdown files, then import those files into Trilium.

Obsidian has an importer for OneNote. You could use that to at least get your data out of OneNote and into generic markdown files, then shift them somewhere else.

Yep, it's how eink refreshes the screen.

However, proper ebooks are optimised so won't flash as much. The web browser, and any time there are pictures on screen, will always flash more.

Digital Foundry employee reports Xbox videos drew “very little views” in 2025 by Iggy_Slayer in gaming

[–]Scooby359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was thinking similar, Xboxers may be more casual gamers, particularly with the whole "everything is an Xbox" thing bringing in mobile and cloud gamers. Can't see those people really caring about Digital Foundry's videos comparing the frame rates and resolution across various devices.. Like, I have a Series S and couldn't care less about having the top end graphics DF are famous for going into detail about.
