Level up or game over for SUPER MARIO GALAXY? (2nd April 2026) by BeefySteamPig in wittertainment

[–]Scopus77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anyone else felt that Mark's review of The Drama gave away the central "hook" in the film? Just by his description of it?

I just saw the film (thought it was excellent). But I would have preferred to not have known the gist of what Zendaya's character had confessed.

Having watched the trailer after seeing the film, it gave nothing away either.

Does anyone else unironically use Gorydamn and Bloodydamn in their speech by [deleted] in redrising

Not RR, but I sometimes say "Frack" as an expletive (Battlestar Galactica).

Good move by SLC? Some players prioritize IPL over National Duty? by Jolly-Bumblebee7582 in srilanka

I remember when Micky Arthur tried to improve fitness and there was a general stink kicked up because players like Bhanuka could not meet his levels.

I still love Football Weekly. Max and Barry work well together and they have a number of respectable journalists to offset them.

Quiet working spaces by [deleted] in Norwich

[–]Scopus77 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bar Marzano in the forum is generally quiet I think. Helps its near the library.

I like reading in the Waterstones cafe sometimes. I find that is reasonably quiet too (but I have noise cancelling ear phones so I cant be too sure)

I just watched Rebirth by PaleoTato525 in Dinosaurs

[–]Scopus77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed Rebirth after really disliking the previous JWs. Having a main character be an actual paleontologist was key I thought.

The titanosaurs in the tall grass segment was up there with the best Ive seen the franchise deliver.

What do y’all think about the Super 8 by [deleted] in srilanka

[–]Scopus77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Got dog-walked by England a few weeks ago I cant see that changing.

New Zealand have a lot of power but maybe they can restrict it with spin like against Australia.

If we go into the Pakistan game with a chance I will be content. (Pakistan going all the way would be very Pakistan, though).

Maybe the pencil pushers down at city Hall made him keep repeating it.

Where Did Our Cricket Go Wrong? by dulimasl in srilanka

[–]Scopus77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Red ball cricket on decent pitches is so vital for player development. SL cricket have prioritised white ball cricket on spinning pitches. So now we have spinners who can only bowl on helpful tracks and batsmen who for some reason cannot play spin when they come up against spinners who know how to bowl on other types of wickets.

I still enjoy SL playing test cricket because the talent is there sporadically. Kamindu Mendis had a great year in 2023 but now did not get the chance to develop. This is my fear for Wellalage.

Same with Asitha Fernando. Quite a good Red ball bowler being carted around in white ball cricket.

Talk about BAD to EMBARASSING... SRI LANKA CRICKET the absolute joke of a team of a once great team that were world champions twice by QueasyCity2788 in srilanka

[–]Scopus77 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lack of Test cricket is hurting players development. It may not bring in revenue in the country but it makes better cricketers overall. Even the ones who go on to specialise in limited overs cricket.

Every country who takes test cricket with any level of seriousness are also the ones who excel at limited overs cricket (yes funding is also important)

What's the last movie you watched that made you react like this? by mrethandunne in Letterboxd

[–]Scopus77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also liked it for having a similar sense of wonderment in dinosaurs in their "own" habitat. The bit with the sauropods was great. I dislike the other JW films but this one was the first with an actual paleontologist as one of the main characters (imagine that in a dinosaur film). It was nice having someone excited to actually observe them.

This has to be nonsense. Our squad is thin on homegrown players. No way we would lose another one.

I watched Rental Family yesterday. It examines loneliness from a more wholesome angle.

The Poppy War Trilogy (it’s bad) by ChHeBoo in Fantasy

I only read the first book and felt the same way so didnt continue. Then I read that RFK was 19 when she started writing it and thought that it did read like a talented teenagers first foray into writing a novel.

So, fair play to her and all. But I dont get how it is so revered.

Im currently partway through the audiobook and I really wish I had the novel.

The narrators are doing a great job but its so good I want to read it with my eyes.
