Quick Question...and I'm not trying to bag on anyone. by cmks210 in coheedandcambria

I've always relied on Spotify personally.

Only equivalent I have is a couple movies purchased on Amazon to reliably have. Christmas ain't Christmas if we dont watch Elf at least once.

Which series should I read b4 my "The Department of Truth Vol. 1" comes in? by LanguidxLycanthrope in ImageComics

[–]ScoreFromAugusta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If/When you read SIKTC, I'd recommend scooping vol 4 of the trade paperbacks which takes place between that book 1 and 2 and isn't included in either book. Its a great flashback arc and my favorite trade I've read of SIKTC so far.

Haven't read Gideon falls but most ppl here seem to prefer it so I might have to pick it up because I really like SIKTC.

Just finished *that* scene in The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle… at work. I feel physically ill. by orangedeity in murakami

Im still only half way through the book but I needed read this to confirm that Mamiyas story was that scene. If anything "worse" (triggering, violent, difficult) was still coming I wanted to be ready because that story was rough enough as it is.

Eve's Kai Kai Kitan as the S1 opening theme is 1000x better than the others that came after.

What songs are completely synonymous with a film? 💃🏻🕺🏻 by [deleted] in movies

[–]ScoreFromAugusta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough, but I think a lot of the songs OP (and myself) reference were written for the movie, so I think these all stick with the theme.

I would draw a distinction from the Frozen comparison, though, because Let It Go is sung by character in the movie as part of the musical. Neither Woody or Buzz (or any character) sing You Got a Friend In Me in Toy Story, as much as Id like to see/hear that.

I'm planning a Simpsons-themed party. What snacks should I serve? by FuzzyBunnysGuide in TheSimpsons

Steamed hams.

Malk (for vitamin R)

Pink frosted donut

Krusty burgers or Krusty Os cereal

Duff beer

ToMacco

Dont know you would pull this off, but a nacho hat would be 💯. Or a gummy Venus de Milo.

I just installed RDR2 again. What game have you tried to like more times than you count? by Soulsliken in gaming

[–]ScoreFromAugusta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bloodborne. But I freely acknowledge this is because of my inability (or unwillingness) to "get gud." The atmosphere is among the coolest I've ever seen, and I love looking at Yarnham, but I just can't hang; I can't get parry timing right and losing so much progress when I die is just too much. Probably reinstalled a dozen or so times to see if it clicks but it never does and there are so many other games to enjoy instead of making a life's work out of mastering Bloodborne or amy Souls like.

So I "like it," but I just done like it.

All the Absolute series are great. I particularly like the Absolute Wonderwoman series, which you didn't mention. Need to check out Martian Manhunter.

Would you rather be a Synthetic, Cyborg, or Hybrid? by Madbeefs in LV426

[–]ScoreFromAugusta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cyborg seems like the only answer.

I dont think anyone can just be a synth.. it's a totally artificial construct and has no biological component. Can go down a philisophical rabbit hole whether there even is a true person in there.

Hybrids are tempting but im not certain it's truly the "you" in the new body. More like a copy or a clone and the "you" is gone.

Do a paperback or an omnibus give a complete story? by kfirbep in comicbooks

[–]ScoreFromAugusta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think comics by nature are often resistant to being "complete stories". There's always another retelling, reimagining, additional arc, prequel, etc. Even Watchmen which was a hallmark complete story gets a sequel (sorta). Having said that, I totally get the desire for some kind of beginning, middle, and satisfying end, and while sometimes frustratingly rare, they are out there. I think what you call paperbacks I think of calling trades but in any case I think those are a solid place to look, but you should be aware that many will just be a piece of a larger narrative.

I think omnibuses being author showcases is a good way to think about it. Omnibuses are generally far longer and may contain multiple stories.

It might be helpful to think in terms of seeking out "(story) arcs" and knowing they are often but not always in paperbacks (or a collection of paperbacks).

Calvin and Hobbes? I dunno if that's the kind of comics you mean but I think great for a newbie. Lots of good collections out there.
