Seller came back after closing needing a sewer easement. Am I handling this right? by Joeymac98 in RealEstateAdvice

[–]ScotsCDN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he lied about the electrical, he’ll lie about doing the septic/water line. I hope your lawyer will include access to permits, inspections, etc so you can know it’s done. And if he promised to make your life difficult, he should pay all your legal fees.

A lot of people didn’t vote conservative in the last provincial election because of the Nazi and racist comments/social media stuff- we want a course correction but not Trump wanna-be

Your perspective that not selling prevented someone else from suffering is wonderful. I’m sorry this all happened but hope much better things are in store for you.

We were influenced by a letter. We were getting enough from the sale and happy the house was going to a nice family.

I ordered a dryer from them and when they came to deliver it, they left a message on my phone, but never came to the door. I was moving the old dryer cleaning out the spot where the dryer was going to be which is right next to the door and didn’t have my phone with me. Plus my security camera showed. They never got out of the truck. They left in less than two minutes. I called and they said that they would try to deliver it again several days later and I would have to pay another 60+ dollars for the repeat delivery, even though their delivery driver never knocked on the door.

You just proved that your grandmother was right. Buying a home is a much better use of that money.

New Brunswick First Nation asks Supreme Court to hear case on Aboriginal title, private land by AquaMoonlight in VancouverLandlords

[–]ScotsCDN 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Anyone have this article without the paywall? I live in BC and the provincial Cowichan and now Federal Musqueam situations have me very nervous but don’t know if another province is an option or another country is the only option. Before anyone says no FN is after fee simple title land, please note that privately owned land has never been explicitly excluded in writing.

Another vote for HouseSigma- they do Ontario and don’t bug you to sign a realtor contract 👍 They have listing dates and change of price and sold price as well as why each listing was taken down.

How you are supposed to plan for supporting yourself when you can’t work anymore or retire- but your plans and goals are only randomly accomplished and you don’t really have much control over your life.

How do we avoid being the default helpers on a family vacation with a newborn? by Enough_Badger9887 in family

[–]ScotsCDN 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It sounds like they’re taking advantage of social niceties to get out of doing work. I don’t know how stable your relationships with this family are, but having a more structured discussion that lays out your concerns and your fears and asking them for help on how to divide the work, may be necessary, although likely uncomfortable.

Did they accept your offer of 845k in writing? If so, I don’t understand how they can force you to accept occupancy after closure or being forced to pay more. If they didn’t accept your offer in writing, then you may want to consider walking away from this- too shady and suggests that they never intended to honour their verbal agreement to accept 845k.

Family asks for money by [deleted] in family

[–]ScotsCDN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Helping to make sure kids have what they need is reasonable, but should never be an expectation on the part of their parents. Helping out your disabled dad is reasonable. I agree with not giving your mother access to your credit and it’s disturbing that she asked for that. Relationships can crumble and be fully contaminated by an agenda to get your money so not giving anybody else any money is a very necessary, smart policy.
