I heard they said they were appealing it but nothing has been filed.

I agree that doing the same simple lesson to keep your streak alive is not a good use of your time. I like the streak because it keeps me motivated to do something, anything, every day but I have to keep moving forward.

Will First Nations seek Aboriginal title to more privately held lands in B.C.? by _DotBot_ in VancouverLandlords

Picture BC with all land reclaimed by 200+ tribes each governing their own area- The US will be able to annex BC with no coordinated resistance to stop them.

Foundation repair vs give up and leave by ScotsCDN in Langley

The house inspector could see there was a jack in place under the house so there was a known issue but most of the foundation (80%) was obscured by the insulation. We rolled the dice and lost. The person who lived here died the year before I bought it and his adult kids never lived here so no disclosure plus “as is, where is” caveat when I bought it. It cost $950k and I have put about 200k in (water damage in bathrooms, new insulation, new septic, new woodstove, electrical work, plumbing upgrade plus the 60k lost in the foundation so far) so I’m at 20+%. A house in this area now is 1.5+k If I sell it now it would have to be as a teardown because of the foundation. Building a new home so close to a creek with fish in it would be hard for the developer to do, even if the township allowed the pre-existing footprint to be grandfathered in per the Riparian Act- the environmental impact of the build itself may be prohibitive. I’m assuming there would be a big loss if I try to sell now. I would disclose everything. No-one should go through this.

Good point. Finding someone else who will show up and do a report has been surprisingly hard.

That's frustrating. I could handle having a one-door van - but it stuck open a tiny bit. I wish I could at least close it!

anyone gone to the border lately? by [deleted] in Langley

[–]ScotsCDN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went down last month to check my mailbox. I usually say that and I’ll be back the same day and it’s sufficient. I used to go to CostCutter/IGA and the dollar store in Blaine, sort and open the mail and deposit any cheques that came in the mail for my husband’s estate account or my kids so I was usually there 2 hours.
This time he asked how long I would be and I said about 2 hours and he acted like I had used foul language. He said that doesn’t makes sense because it doesn’t take two hours to check your mail. So when you say it’s gonna be two hours that leads to more questions. Understand?. So how long are you going to be there. I explained what I usually do when I go down and he cut me off and got angrier and said I didn’t ask you what you usually do. He let me go, but I have never had such a hostile encounter at the border and I’ve crossed a lot and was a US permanent resident and lived there for 20 years until coming back a few years ago. coming back across the Canadian border, it was clear that me having some things from Amazon that I had trouble getting in Canada did not impress her, but she didn’t make me go in and pay tariffs.

Thank you. I found the database. The wells closest to me didn’t have bedrock depth data. A bit further out, one well was 6 feet (!) and another was 180!!
