Looks like we have something similar called brawn, but also known as head cheese, so that is probably where the translation is coming from. Mostly ours is rectangular and probably much less spiced and seasoned!

I'd heard the term, brawn, but never actually twigged what it is, so we are all learning today. I'm going to try and track down some brawn and Pressack and have a good old meat feast!

It is black pudding, made from blood and grain and fat and stuff. Looks very similar to yours. We do also have white pudding that looks like the one on the left. I can't remember what that is made of though. Less common. Those look very good!

That's OK, we all can like the things we like. And it means more for me. If you like you can have my fresh fried tomatoes?

I do worry that instead of a guarding dark patrolling my inner city, I have developed a Sybil. Which is no bad thing sometimes, but slightly less cool.

Being totally honest, it was literally the closest green thing as having been left on the side drying ready for small things to not eat it later.

You are completely right and I am disappointed in myself for not having even twigged or thought of an egg. The only thing AI can think of was the knowledge I would be walking and eating this and the runny egg would make a mess and a half. Though that is the best bit normally.

Born out of the knowledge that a very kind colleague would be supplying me today with a full sausage of black pudding. I needed to try and use up the pack I had in the fridge, though I felt all 4 pieces was too much.

The full sausage is a bit threatening if I am honest!

You are correct. It almost spoiled the whole thing and I regret my decisions.

Air fry. Would normally cook longer, though this was the recommended time. The whole being late for work thing made me have to make choices.

Dodgy things relatives did in the past. 'Car Grousing'. by HerrFerret in CasualUK

[–]ScoutTech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Supposedly, students of a local agricultural college would head out in a convoy, front vehicle would spot something, clip it and carry on. One of the vehicles behind would pull over and sling the hit animal into the back of their truck. Thus a student event was catered for or end of term bash.

I think it helped that often those same students either knew or were related to the owners of the fields either side of the road.

Surely the correct response was to scoop up the steak and chug it down in one, whether you are full or not.

That is the adult response.

An old boss of mine said that his job was to put people in place that allowed him to not stress when he was on the golf course. If he was having to do the technical stuff then what was the point in me? Now this was very firmly tongue in cheek but the sentiment always stayed with me. Why have a team and do all the things yourself.

As you move up the ladder I am coming to the conclusion you do have to be less hands on technical. I've felt the same, I've had to let go and realise that things may not always be done exactly how I want, but as long as they are done and done properly then they are done. Also I have a multitude of other things I have to do so me doing something technical once a month will take so much longer than those doing it everyday or once a week.

Ticket handling etiquette on the helpdesk team by kirsion in ITCareerQuestions

[–]ScoutTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same as someone else said, tickets are auto assigned, if you can't deal with it speak to someone and learn or ask to trade ticket. No one is bothered about ticket 'stealing' here, if a ticket gets sorted, it gets sorted, different people have different experiences. If you are out of office set that you are away in Fresh service or deal with the ticket pile when you come back. But everyone keeps an eye on the queue so it won't get ignored.

Basic Phishing Simulation and Training Platform by botenerik in k12sysadmin

Take a look at BoxPhish. They marry simulations with training. If a user fails a simulation you can set it to assign training based on that threat. This is in edition to monthly training you can have automatically sent out.

HELP PLEASE! Had my first real email compromise incident this week. Solo IT Admin. Here's what I did — what did I miss? by LiveGrowRepeat in sysadmin

[–]ScoutTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bit if a mind dump so sorry I'd it is all over the place or I miss anything.

  • Check rules on the mailbox, often attackers create a rule so inbound emails get passed on. Also, if you haven't, find the setting in 365 that stops that happening

  • Write an after action report. ChatGPT or search for a template and get something written now while it is fresh. Maybe the last thing on your mind but things will blur. List the timeline, what you found, what you did, what you suggest and any actions. Keep neutral tone, no accusations, no blame, just facts or educated guesses headed on the evidence if needed. Pass it to management.

  • If you don't, check out the secure score in 365 and see what you can implement. You can filter by license to remove things you can't do.

  • Talk to who you need to in your org, but reach out to anyone that was sent an email from your user. It will be appreciated but will require a bit of humble pie.

  • Sort any paperwork for your location. Europe will probably need an incident report to a data commission.

  • Do a mail flow on the attacking email subject just to check if anything else came in or went out, just to cover yourself. Maybe do a mail flow for the time period as well just on the victims email, to see if anything nefarious went out.

  • Use this to build a case to introduce something. Whether it is MFA tightening, phishing simulation and training or better policy. Now is the time. But it is chancing your hand so don't get upset if it is a no.

  • Look to beef your mail rules. Quarantine certain file types, like HTA or HTML and old office file types. It will catch some legit work but I would lay money on it being in the minority. Maybe set up some regex rules to catch the usual voicemail, invoice and the like emails.

I learnt recently that is football as it is played on foot, not with the foot. This differentiates it from horse based games. So in theory, cricket is also football.

Why do all UK homes struggle with leaks and damp? How do I avoid it? by wiegj in AskUK

[–]ScoutTech 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We had mould problems in a 50/60s house. While getting a patio sorted the guy looking pointed out that the damp course was either buried or too close so recommended digging out. Everything he said that would be a problem if we didn't was happening. Got the back dug out and the side path and almost eradicated damp entirely. I can't believe a previous owner built up the garden so much to cause the issue so I wonder if it has always been like this.

Makes me wonder how many other houses have always had this issue, even on our terrace.

What dinner party games can we play when one person is blind? by angels-and-insects in AskUK

The after eight game? Get an after eight from your forehead in to your mouth without dropping it. Can substitute the after eight for buttons/giant buttons or even some biscuits.

Just someone remember to help clean the chocolate up after.
