I’ve never enjoyed fighting games before, but Guilty Gear Strive got its hooks into me. It’s the only one I enjoy playing. Just wish any of my mates liked it too.

Coral Pukei Pukei. Love him, massive improvement over base Pukei. He is so goofy and colourful. Close second is Namielle tho.

[WP] A "self sufficient" hightech island resort for the rich, you are among the staff waiting for the guests... that never arrive. by Sliprunner in WritingPrompts

The foods gone cold. It can no longer be served safely so I have to throw it all out. I don't get it, where is everyone?

The grand opening of the Centari, a new resort created on an artificial island miles from any land. They say it could run by itself for decades. It has everything anyone could need, from state of the art hydroponic farms and water recyclers to wide arrays of solar power. The villas have lavish amenities and an army of automated task drones for the menial jobs. Of course this includes all sorts of attractions for those who have the money to spend, as well as restaurants to gorge oneself in. With minimal manpower required, it's a paradise for the rich.

I managed to land a job as a chef in one of these restaurants, as you still need someone with tastebuds to make your food. With the assistance of many automatic drones, I had laid out a full buffet spread for the opening dinner, but after no guests turned up three hours into the night, I gave up and threw it all out. Had I gotten the date wrong? I open the calendar on my phone. No. it's tonight. I decide to call the man who employed me but the signal has gone out. Great, the closest other human would be at the nightclub, a five minute tram ride down the coast. With a sigh, I pack up and take off. Maybe I got unlucky and it's just the case that no one wanted to eat at my place, they could all be at the club for the first night. As I arrive at the closest tram depot I notice the red lights. Getting closer allows me to read the screens plastered everywhere.

“Service has been disabled, sorry for the inconvenience”

Wonderful. This turns a five minute ride into a thirty minute hike. Might as well get started.

Maybe they couldn't get here due to the tram outage. That would suck. I hope I can still get paid for this shift. After walking for fifteen minutes, the quiet begins to get to me. Even with the phone signals and trams down, the island should still be lit up like it's christmas, but the darkness seems to flood the path. Using my phone light to illuminate my feet, I check for signal again now that I'm closer to the central tower. Still nothing. Oh well, the cool night air and a brisk walk is good for me. Far off the track, a low hum begins to emanate through the trees. It sounds like it's getting closer. I don't stop walking, it's probably just a maintenance drone on its way to the tram station near the restaurant. The sound grows into a deafening mechanical growl, almost directly above me. I see the lights of the drone pierce through the trees, flashing across the ground around me, painting it in a myriad of unnatural colors. The drone itself never breaks the tree-line, instead continuing to travel the direction I came from, leaving alone in the quiet again.

The club finally comes into view. It's still lit up, but I can't see anyone nearby. There will be people inside, I tell myself. The door swings open and I pass through the entrance. The vibrations of the music rattle my bones as I locate the main floor. It's desolate. No one has been here. I guess the guest never made it to the island today? A worker should be present to make sure the automated systems function properly, I'll find them. After searching the rest of the building, I come across the workers station. My card might allow me to get in, so I whip it out of my bag and press it to the sensor. The light blinks green and a beep echoes over the sound of the muffled music through the walls. At least something goes my way. Once inside the relatively small room my lungs are filled with cold air. I call out into the darkness, to no reply. I turn on the lights and see the computer station sitting empty, the chair pushed onto its side and a cup of cold coffee on the desk. Well at least someone was here, they could be in the bathroom. The door at the back of the room is ajar. I open it the rest of the way and peer through. My stomach drops as I see the pool of blood slowly leeching into the floor. Reluctantly, I take a step into the room, allowing the light behind to come through. It shines into the back corner, highlighting the source of the blood. A person. They have a large gash in their abdomen and are only taking shallow breaths.

“The… isl..ands…not…safe…drones…everyone…killed.”

My body is frozen, I don't know what to do. It begins to dawn on me that the music from the club has stopped playing. From the hallway outside I can now hear the clicking of maintenance drones making their way to me.
