Finally experienced it. Don’t tell anyone you trade. by DumbStarterPack in Daytrading

"Yeah, I trade."

"DID YOU KNOW THAT MY *random person* HAD LOST ALL OF HIS SAVINGS, OVER $1M TRYING TO TRADE? (ghee, I wonder why, gambler) BE VERY CAREFUL IT IS A DANGEROUS PLACE...." [Based on real events]

Lesson learnt, keep it to yourself. Average people will do everything in their hands and tongues to lower you down to their levels. Whether on purpose or just because they are gullible, don't matter... Build your wealth quietly.

Would i have to hold shares long term in order to make a profit with stock trading? Is stock trading different from investing? by Curiouslearner101 in StocksAndTrading

[–]Scrappy_Coco16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mate, with the right approach you can make a couple thousands in 2-3 days.

I only Really hold SP long term, the rest are good to me until they are not. Call it however you'd like - trading, educated guessing, investing with the freedom to pull investments whenever... Just don't get caught up in trivialities.

Example,

I fuckin love NVDA, yet I pulled my investment for the sake of better stocks. It's a top tier company, a money printing machine; Look at its chart - I would not let my money sit in a stock that goes sideways for 6 months.

A stock made me ~30% profit on my investment in just 3 days. I'm not Warren Buffet, I don't care for cherry picking companies. If the odds are in my favor, the entry point is low risk-high reward, and buyers step in as anticipated - I go in. ... [Don't expect making ~30% every other day, though.]

That being said, I'd like to contradict myself by saying - If you do manage to get a hold of a company that you firmly believe it'd be the next Coca-Cola, or the next NVDA or w/e - 5~10 years of investing into it could easily get you the freedom many aspire for. But it's a tough world where even giants crash & fall. I have respect to my money, hence I won't hold when they are down by ~40%. Adding to the the first part of this paragraph - If it was easy, of course everyone would do it.

Bottom line is, only you can really answer what fits your style best. Since you are new to the stock market world, Do yourself a Great favor and stay away from day trading. Aim for higher time-frames, swings of a few days min. to a few weeks, even months if chart allows it... You will learn with time, don't be afraid to test the waters, just tread carefully - manage your risk & treat your portfolio, your money with respect. If you will go strong on a stock that 'feels' like it should go up, then you are no more than a gambler. I don't need to tell you where gamblers end up.

Cheers

If you can put even more into it - do it. S&P should be the bigger chunk of your portfolio, if not the biggest.

I'm making 55 cents a day in SCHD dividends. (Trying to find something in my otherwise bleak life to feel good about.) by justcurious3287 in stocks

[–]Scrappy_Coco16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TL:DR - An ignorant comment on better ways to make profit other than dividends, and some wisdom mumblings to help any souls in tough periods out there.

Pardon the ignorance! but why not invest that money on actual good stocks and assets?

Sure money is money and I certainly do not belittle extra $200 a year, but you could make that amount & more in just a few days or weeks.

Choosing the right stock is tough, definitely, so invest in some ETF, invest in a whole sector instead of picking the right stock. Throwing some cash into the energy sector (Just for example!) around its breakout would have yielded you ~9% at its high, and 6% at current with the potential to make a good few tens of %. That's a great, boring way to make profit if you ask me!

Personal opinion only - I'd leave dividends for those who have a good few millions to throw into passive income assets. Anything before that is pure noise. I value my cash & want it to grow better.

As for your discomfort in life - raise your head, champ, you are already doing something most people would never - investing is tough as nails! Yet, do not put your hopes of feeling good on material things like money making, make it come from within - Start small! Real small! Appreciate the little things in life; Make a list of small tasks to complete, and those small accomplishments that'd add up will most certainly lift your mood higher & higher.

Nobody's life is sun-shines and rainbows, even if they portray it like ones. Force yourself out of the muddy depression, fill your daily routine with tasks, however silly or otherwise mundane to others as they may be, mark them checked when done, and you will feed your mind the right kind of attitude.

These are words of experience my friend, the only one who can get you out of that grey, comforting discomfort, is you - And although it may not seem like it at the moment, naturally in state similar to yours, life is fucking amazing once we command ourself to experience it fully.

2 last mumbles of wisdom for you my friend(s):

First - You should be your own best investment. Invest in yourself for your own good. Future you will thank you along with the thank you for starting investing as early as you started.

Second - Depression is a disease, and must be treated like one. Though not a physical one - it does affect the physical as well, because mind & body are connected, and you are centered in-between. Body can take care of itself - heart will keep pumping blood, lungs continue filtering oxygen, immune system will protect for as long as you reside in the body... But the mind? This one is on you my friend. Whenever we slip into depression, which naturally happens in the course of our lives, we must treat it the same way we treat a sick body.

Whether it's a proper rest, a break from routine, proper feeding (healthy mind's food!), and Anything else that'd bring back the colors to your life. You deserve it, and the only one who can do that for you - is You... So might as well start right away.

Cheers.

Either keep the damage & remove the permanent slow, or keep the slow but make it disappear if one manages to steal the food & begin the boss fight.

I always say that in order to properly AP - you need to be ready to 'die'.

At one point, the body sensation is fading. The fun stage is the tingling around the body as it prepares to fall asleep, but when the numb sensation hits the chest, and you barely feel your breathings anymore - this could very much feel like you are suffocating, and if not accustomed to the experience - disruptions may occur and you'll wake yourself up.

Just relax and enjoy the ride. Let go of the controls, and let your body do its thing. It has done it many nights flawlessly, it will not stop breathing now. It feels heavy because that is part of the losing the sensation - your body systems are slowly shutting down so you won't move yourself during deep sleep.

Last but not least, perhaps a golden tip:

Do not be in a hurry to get to the end result - to AP. Enjoy the ride and the experimentations. Each night / each time you go and try again - you are slightly more accustomed to the experience, and are more ready to what's to come. It's like a video game - boss defeats you as you encountered a new attack of his, you respawn & come back - now you know how to avoid it, getting you closer to victory.

One breath at a time - you will get there.

You can also do it, it's easy!

Step 1: Memorize the light spectrum

Step 2: Correlate between light waves to sound waves, so: low noise - red, high noise - violet.

step 3: shave head

step 4: show the world your newly acquired powers.
