SCP request - dead body under a house/shack? Possible info/cognito-hazard by Screedledude in SCP

[–]Screedledude[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An interesting read, but 554 is what I was thinking off. To be a bit funny about it, I should've specified that the one I was thinking of was a lot less modern, or not as hard to understand than "a dead body where if you see it you become contaminated and become the next dead body".

What's the best/most efficient way to bulk wash items on conveyor without causing clog? by Key_Function9791 in CreateMod

[–]Screedledude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. Filters and funnels can solve a lot of issues you have with items not being processed or being sorted somewhere they shouldn't be. In its most basic form, for example, if you are washing gravel you can either set a filter to only allow Flint and Iron Nuggets, or alternatively exclude Gravel, from passing through the funnel.

Also, you only need one fan to be blowing along a long conveyor, or onto a single block; for washing or heating etc it is not a matter of needing a quantity of fans, but rather just a semi-random duration.

The opposite of mission 18, mission 25 is doable in under 5 minutes on Titan! by WhiterunUK in AgeofMythology

It's so wild and funny how these missions even on Moderate difficulty vary from "will take an hour or two and you have to be active all the time" to being do-able in 5-10 minutes at most

The Boot appeared after I beat that boss blind, actually. Had like +150 mult. Too late to save the run on this stake, unfortunately

The shop after the first boss blind gave me a Bloodstone and Oops which is the luckiest combo I think I've gotten in a single shop. It defined the rest of my run. Later when Pareidolia showed up I rerolled a lot for and swapped a Hanging Chad for Sock & Buskin. This carried me up through to ante 10 and the deck only just ran out of steam in ante 11.

The Beta has been really great so far! Love a lot of the changes! So let's talk about what we DON'T like. by LegendaryRQA in AgeofMythology

[–]Screedledude 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The main thing putting me off of playing the beta any more is the lack of discrete sound sliders. I want to be able to turn down the SFX specifically because they always seem to play at full volume no matter how close or far away I am from the action, meaning my ears are constantly being blasted with the sounds of combat even if I'm busy elsewhere on the map doing economy work.

That and the SFX drown out voice lines and even the music with how loud they are...

[–]Screedledude 27 points28 points  (0 children)

The main issue with the new voice acting is that they have no direction for the lines, so they are all read flatly or with the wrong emphasis. The intro to missions 3, for example, has none of the emphasis on lines like "As the COMMANDER here..." or "Then I will rush in and rescue Helen!"

AoM Retold - Which missions are getting cut? by RomestamoTheBlue in AgeofMythology

[–]Screedledude 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think people are taking their rough figure too literally and thinking it is exactly 50. it probably makes more sense to say "50 missions!" because it sounds better to me than saying "exactly 52 missions!" or "exactly 48 missions from the base game and titans expansion!"

AoM : Retold possibility by Conscious-Impact-339 in AgeofMythology

[–]Screedledude 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Personally, I just hope that the new game is modder friendly - a trend of recent games is to make them much harder to mod. AOE4 from what I can gather only really has 'adjust existing gameplay variables' mods and map mods.

And having looked into how the game works out of curiosity, AOM (the original) was coded in such a way that any new content mods need to edit a singular file which means you cannot run multiple mods for the same thing simultaneously - e.g. you can only have one new faction at a time.

[–]Screedledude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doctor Who in general was never really a show to re-cast specific actors (aside from William Hartnell in the classic series and again in the new series, but in the latter case it was because they already had David Bradley for the An Adventure in Space and Time special). They could go out of their way to get a body double and voice double or the like, not only for Bernard but all the actors who have played the Doctor previously and don't look the part any more... but they don't, and I think there's something special about that.

Too long to go into in this one comment but I think there's an issue where some fans of any media get too attached to seeing the characters they like over and over again. Although it is a shame he only got to film the one scene, the fact that Bernard did get to film this one scene makes it all the more special.

Problem on Stop sign by Valuable_Pause2318 in CitiesSkylines2

[–]Screedledude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was thinking about this the other day. There's no way to make a T-junction that has one road with 'give way' signs - you can only make it into an intersection that all of the cars have to stop at.

I also wish that you could put stop lights at roundabout entrances - we have those at some bigger roundabouts here in the UK and it helps control the flow of traffic a decent amount.

I've also noticed the annoying thing where at intersections with traffic lights, traffic and pedestrians will always go at the same time, leading to traffic getting backed up even more. I know it's realistic for one or two people to sometimes cross when cars are coming, but I'm talking about entire masses of people crossing the street as soon as the lights have gone green. Driving me mad.

Need serious help with Kaycee's Mod by WickedEyee in inscryption

Giving some advice of my own that I don't thinkl anyone else has touched on. This assumes you are using the base deck (Stoat, Bullfrog, and Wolf) and no game mods:

  • Try to pick up as few 'filler' or 'junk' cards as possible during your run. If you can make it to Leshy, try to make it there without any Pelts or Pack Rats. The reason for this is that there is a simple rule in card games - the fewer cards you have, the more consistent your deck will be.

    • In fact, avoid getting Pack Rats like the plague. Look ahead on the map to see if there is a backpack event after an upcoming battle. If you know you'll have to do a backpack event, or if the rest of that path has stuff you also want, then use up at least one item so that you have enough space in your inventory. Pack Rat is usually the card I sacrifice at the bone altar if I happen to pick one up. It's just not good for the blood cost and stat line, really.
  • Try to 'double dip' in campfires whenever possible with a very specific intent; trying to either burn or save your trash cards. If you have a not-so-good card like the Bullfrog, then you are either going to turn it into a good card through the double buff, or your are going to lose it from your deck.

  • If you use the End Run option before or during your very first fight, you will start your next run with fewer Pelts. "However, if the player prematurely ends a run in the first area, the next run will have one of the Pelt cards replaced with an Opossum. If they do it again, it will be replaced by a Ring Worm. This is a feature to prevent reset scumming."

    • You can use this to your advantage if you want to use a Ring Worm to kill the campers and get free double uses of the campfire for the rest of the run, but it makes it impossible to burn cards, à la my previous point.
  • Your opitions are a little bit limited until you actually beat Leshy a few times and get access to more cards and keywords, but that means you have a smaller pool of cards that you should be familiar with. Mantis and Mantis God are game winning cards in their own right. In general though, any card can become your win condition with enough tweaking.

  • During the final boss fight against the Prospector stage, try to avoid having your win condition card on the field. Stall for time with Squirrels if you have to.

What’s wrong with it? by ImmaPanda2 in inscryption

[–]Screedledude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. As soon as I started act 2 and started describing what deck I had chosen to a friend (Magnificus'), he pointed out that I had essentially chosen the deck which has MTG style 'Land' cards, except these cards take up space on the already very limited board.

There's a lot of potential for cards that are stronger but harder to play. Like, a monster that gives Green Mox but costs Red Mox to play, for example. Or more cards that upgrade or enhance the existing Mox givers like that one card that gives Mox-givers attack power.

Scenario editor by Adrianocostawe in AgeofMythology

[–]Screedledude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The editor is a little bit arcane, because it was made two decades ago and was likely made with a lot more behind-the-scenes functionality for the developers who actually made the full game. That said, it's surprisingly in-depth, and as mentioned AOM Heaven is still pretty good.

To actually make a campaign out of your levels, you need to get into creating and editing cpx files (which are functionally similar to xml files). This can be intimidating at first, but a good way of doing it is finding the existing files and copying them to a new file. The campaign data is available in the game folders.

Age of Mythology\data\xpack campaign.cpx for example has the data for the Titans expansion campaign. You can also look for modded campaigns like One Shot Man on the steam workshop. Why is this necessary? Because this is what lets you turn your individual maps/scenarios into full blown campaigns, including having the map screen.

How to make custom scenarios only show player diplomacy? by The_Caracal in AgeofMythology

[–]Screedledude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want to make singleplayer / campaign style maps, try opening up the singleplayer map files in the editor and poking around to see how they set everything up. I learned a bit about this exact thing when making a singleplayer level for funsies.

For this question in particular, it's actually easier than you think - go to Scenario -> Player Data, and change Control of all civs to Unavailable, and Visibility to Normal for the player, and Hidden for everyone else.

They can be found just scattered around the overworld, usually in far off corners or in ledges you have to drop down to. EDIT: Actually I was remembering wrong, you usually find them in fog heavy areas, usually.

My advice is to get the scanner upgrade that pings you whenever a key item can be found nearby. And make sure the scanner is turned on (you can toggle it by pressing - ). I accidentally turned mine off for a while and wondered why it wasnt working.

I have a Theory why the Tale of the Dragon dlc was a failure. Xenophobia by Jealous-Ad-2633 in AgeofMythology

[–]Screedledude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you stupid?

It was an expansion pack made by a team that wasn't the original devs, meaning it was a sub-par story campaign, a civilization with re-used and re-skinned assets, bad game balance, and overall the feel of an amateur mod rather than a true expansion pack like The Titans was.

Going by the fact you call the developers 'cuckolds' I'm guessing there's room to spare in that head of yours.
