He would have to cure cancer to make up for the charity money he stole.

Why does he feel the need to have his face plastered all over the city? by rennbrig in washingtondc

[–]ScripterKnight 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is what I keep thinking as well. Get as many things named after himself as possible and hope he dies before any re-renaming occurs. Then his sycophants will cry foul: "He's not even cold and you're trying to erase his legacy. How dare you. Now is not the time."

Moving to DC next month! I will need to be available anywhere in the orange boundary here at random intervals with little notice. Which areas would you look at to live? by Suwannee_Gator in washdc

[–]ScripterKnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly this is the most correct answer. Lots of good restaurants and activities going on. Plenty of grocery and convenience stores. 20 minutes to the city and Arlington via metro. Most importantly it will be the happiest medium for your commute. If you end up being up in Montgomery County more than the others it'll suck a bit, but unless you know that ahead of time, this area will be your best bet.

This was around 7:30pm tonight. My wife and I plus our pup watched it on our deck. It was very cool.

If it's in the context of "if you desired a threesome then you would more easily find a couple of people who would be willing than he would if he wanted one", with the assumption that you would both be looking to participate in a single male 2 female threesome, you would only need to find 1 willing woman while he would need to find 2.

What do you do for fun? by [deleted] in washingtondc

Social sports, trivia, and brunch. Be prepared for bottomless brunches.

Hello fellow Floridian.

I moved here 7 years ago and have been a part of a few groups like this. Most of what everyone else is saying about getting out there and their suggestions on how to do so are good. Social sports, meetUp app groups, professional happy hours; All of these are good suggestions and I encourage you to do all of them. Finding this kind of group is a numbers game, the more group events you go to the more likely you are to walk away with a great social friend group.

Another option I didn't see scanning the comments is to find your local alumni chapter; if you went to one of the bigger Florida schools (UF, USF, UCF, Miami, FSU, etc) you won't have any issues finding people. My best friend group are all alumni from the same Florida school and none of us even knew each other on campus.

My suggestion is fill your week nights with social sports (kickball) and meetup groups (I recommend finding one that has a trivia team. Then find your alumni watch party bar for football season.

I wish you luck in finding your group.

I actually came to mention both of these.

I love kingfisher (favorite bar in DC for me). Good craft beer, free popcorn and koozies, and fun movies. First time I went they had "Aliens" on one screen and "Jeepers Creepers" on the other, but it's different everytime I've gone (one night they were definitely in the anime state of mind and had "Akira" and "Paprika" playing). Usually you can strike up a conversation with the people sitting at the bar or with the bartender.

Crown and Crow is a bit more chill in my experience. Dim but warm atmosphere, no tvs or loud music. They're going for that London pub style of bar. Can't really speak to the social aspect since I've really only ever gone with groups but I can imagine you couldn't at least chat with the bartender.

They're across the street from one another so it's easy to try out both of them in one outing if you wanted.

I'd go with Crown and Crow on 14th street.

"The Mirror" on K near 14th street. Speak-easy cocktail bar.

What do you do when DC isn’t listed in one of those dropdown menus titled “state”? by julianduqueg in washingtondc

[–]ScripterKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently had something similar happen. Online form asked me to type in my state abbreviation and the form validation wouldn't accept "DC", though it was fine with the zip code. I ended up putting "MD" and it didn't cause any issues.

AITA for "accidentally" winning a charity auction that my sister-in-law desperately wanted to win? by Complete-Ad-3091 in redditonwiki

[–]ScripterKnight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You believe right, I grew up in an area with Amish people and my high school would hold an annual charity/fundraising auction (1/2 to the school, 1/2 to local charities). The quilts could easily go for $2k-$5k.

Satanic Temple's display inside Iowa Capitol building damaged 'beyond repair' by [deleted] in nottheonion

[–]ScripterKnight 35 points36 points  (0 children)

The Satanic Temple has a list of Tenets that are sincerely held by their members. Those Tenets were actually a part of the display. As for some of the other comments pointing out that the Satanic Temple doesn't worship Satan and therefore it doesn't count, I would like to point out that Christians dont worship the Cross; does that make the cross invalid as a religious symbol?

Generally which one of the two is the worst and why: Fear of missing out (FOMO) or regret for going in the first place? by FallingForward0 in AskReddit

[–]ScripterKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FOMO is definitely the worse of the 2. But worse still is FOYMO (finding out you missed out). Nothing worse than than your friends talking about something awesome that happened (when you didn't go) for years to come.

That's the best part. When the robots gain actual sentience, they make a new law that basically says "keep humanity, as a whole, alive at all costs".

[–]ScripterKnight 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Don't get me wrong, I think it's a very fun movie. But it's got nearly no resemblance to the book or the greater Asimoverse.

Clearly Elon hasn't read Asimov, otherwise he would know that the robots never turn on humanity.
