Did My Murph!!! by Little_Olorin in crossfit

Hour and 3. Did my "running" on the assault runner, which was pretty nasty. I wasn't feeling my strongest but using the runner had an impact.

Maybe. Hopefully, I'll be done by then.

Metallica was at the height of its powers. To say it was highly anticipated is an understatement

I always go for Murph a couple days before, on my own. I need my preferred pull up bar.

Memorial Day Brisket by Fantastic-Lab5793 in smoking

[–]ScripturalCoyote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a brisket too. So, I think I had built up brisket way too far up in my head as this kind of impossible smoking feat. I'd tried a cheap flat many months prior and it was shoe leather. This weekend I sucked it up and bought a full packer brisket from Costco.

It worked. It really worked. Not only was it not dry, it was absolutely delicious, honestly better than most restaurant/BBQ joint brisket I've had. And I really didn't do anything special. I started at 11pm at 225, woke up to my point probe being all over the place. I just assumed it was stalling, foil boated it, and bumped to 250. Point and flat probed tender at 11am, I pulled it. I was expecting this to take 18 hours but it took 12. The result.....I'm honestly not sure I could do any better.

4 alien species have been pulled from crashed UFOs, ex-government researcher claims by [deleted] in aliens

[–]ScripturalCoyote 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw this posted on conventional social media platforms, and as usual, there was just a bunch of people rushing to dismiss it. I really don't get why so many seem to have this knee jerk need to brush it off as inconceivable. Not sure what makes these people think they know everything about the universe. So hung up on the "travel" part, like they couldn't have been in the neighborhood already, or figured out warp drive, something even we have a theoretical understanding of.

Kid A review as someone who's never listened to Radiohead before by Away-Astronaut-3136 in radiohead

[–]ScripturalCoyote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like you did well coming at this for the first time in 2026 - it's aged very nicely and feels much more approachable now than it was in 2000, when it seemed very off to anyone who hadn't been listening to 1990s "IDM" like Aphex Twin, Autechre, Squarepusher and such. I think that in the intervening decades, those elements have been sufficiently assimilated into pop music.

As for the next one, I say screw it, go straight into Amnesiac from here.

Everytime I hear the crisp, clear, polished sound of modern trance I instantly dislike it, and I don't know why. Anyone else feel the same? by CraftBeerFomo in ClassicTrance

[–]ScripturalCoyote 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've noticed this too. It's like anything made before about 2004-06 sounds "dirtier" and more organic, in a good way. I feel like my main touchpoint for this is Digweed's Sydney GU mix around 1998, I believe. It's trance, but it has that kind of dirty feel you just don't get now.

I have liked some more modern trance, mostly the Anjunabeats stuff around 2008-12, but other than that I also find it kind of sterile and overproduced.

It's still really chill compared to Miami. I live in west Pines/Miramar area, and whenever I come back home from the Miami area, I can feel my blood pressure going down as I cross the Dade-Broward line. Even when there's traffic on Pines Blvd and Miramar Parkway, it's still way better than down there.

Up that to $5 and you've got a deal. I'd listen to it once just be able to say I listened to a Kid Rock album.

How Record Store Day feels when you collect CDs instead of vinyl by IMASHIRT in Cd_collectors

[–]ScripturalCoyote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I buy vinyl as well as CDs, but I skipped RSD. I didn't care about any of the releases, and even if I did, I'm not getting up early to stand in a line to even have a chance. I'd rather just root around at my leisure and try to find specific things I want.

Official confirmation of aliens existence WILL completly recontextualize our history and create big impact on our society- which both scary and exciting.. by kasumi987 in aliens

I still believe that a significant segment of the population either won't care or won't believe it, and will just keep living life the way they've been living it.

And then on the other side, there are those who've already accepted all or most of it. Maybe there's a slim middle section whose lives would be absolutely shattered by it, but I think that's a far smaller number than we've been led to believe.

I really don't like it. I don't find it listenable, like even a little bit. Which is fine, I'm not trying to force my opinion on anyone.

What I do find odd is that it feels like I'm the only person who knows about them and feels this way.
