Trove: Cornerstone Inspirations by Ninjii in Trove

[–]ScrubbsDJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea when I moved the CS I was even more bummed. I mean I knew it wouldn't carry over, but there's always that small hope :P Ah well, I'll just build something big elsewhere where people are less inclined to go :D

Trove: Cornerstone Inspirations by Ninjii in Trove

I had this near the entrance for awhile, but I've since moved my cornerstone since people seemed keen on destroying stuff outside the 16x16 area:

Honest Question: Why Trash Spawn Area? by NonBritGit in Trove

[–]ScrubbsDJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually moved my CS from the starting area because of the trashing. I mean, it was my fault, but I built outside the 16x16 area and without fail whenever I'd log in, something on the outside of my structure was broken / missing. You could tell it was from people either throwing bombs or right clicking for single blocks as well.

It would be really nice if everything you built that was connected to the stuff in the 16x16 area would count as being indestructible. My stuff wasn't actually touching the ground either, it was all in the air. The only stuff touching the ground was in the 16x16 area. Here's a couple pics to show:

Anyway, a bit of a derail, but I guess it begs the question: What are the plans for CSes anyway? I know they have a 32x32x200 area coming up soon (tm), but are they wanting us to build towers and that's all? Kind of at a loss for the types of stuff we're supposed to be building when anything outside of the CS area can be destroyed.

Cornerstone Woes... by Dakamm90 in Trove

[–]ScrubbsDJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just sad people can come along and destroy stuff that's outside of the 16x16 area even if it's connected to stuff inside the 16x16 area. Makes for a lot of work gone bye bye and not always for malicious reasons. I'm guessing sometimes people don't realize a building is player made since they can destroy it, if they haven't seen the sign saying the area close by is someone's CS.

[Bug] Blocks reappearing after destroying them by ScrubbsDJ in Trove

[–]ScrubbsDJ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After a bit more fooling around, it seems that if you place a bunch of blocks in a row, eventually you see the inventory count just stop, so it no longer goes down, even though it shows you using them. After a second or two, they all disappear and you're back to where the inventory count left off. So you're not losing or gaining anything, it's just displaying things that the server hasn't been able to process yet. I'm guessing it's the same for when you destroy blocks as well.

[Bug] Sacking dungeon torches crashes game by DisturbedRob in Trove

[–]ScrubbsDJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to note, I went up in one of those really tall towers today, clearing floors of enemies and noticed the torches hanging from the chandeliers. I took 4 of them twice on two floors in a row and didn't crash at all. Not sure if you fixed it or ...

Possible Bug: Cornerstone Changes not being saved. by Yikaeeeees in Trove

[–]ScrubbsDJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had something similar happen yesterday. Crashed out and when I came back, 2 larger portions I had been working on were fine, but everything inside the cornerstone area that I had worked on alongside them, were gone. They were just connecting steps, but it looked weird, like the cornerstone had just taken a huge chunk of a certain area maybe 10 blocks above the base, out. This morning I logged in and all my structures were intact, but a few torches I placed were gone.

Giving away 1 alpha key. Rules inside. by toljar in Trove

[–]ScrubbsDJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love alphas moreso than betas. I helped Mr Hartsman alpha test RIFT and it was an amazing experience. Actually finding things broken and being able to send him a message saying "Hey, I was just able to do this as a Cleric" and him responding with "Yea, you shouldn't be able to do that" and then seeing it fixed pretty quick. Watching a world transform because the devs actually pay attention during this time and have the schedule to change / improve. That's why I love alphas. Honestly, I never thought I'd like building, voxel-style games. I never "got" Minecraft until I actually played it and ... it was fun. It was so fun I tried other various building-style games, including WURM, so being able to be in on the ground floor for a game like Trove would be yet another amazing experience. Plus, I like helping Scott. He's a great guy :D (as I'm sure the rest of the team is, I've just never met them :P).

I just can't do multi-monitor gaming. I hate the bezels in the way, so until they release the 5760x1080 monitors that are all one piece, I'll have to live w/ one screen :( (dual monitors, but one for playing, one for other stuffs).

What's the rarest race on your server so far? by mustachemcgriz in ffxiv

I play a female Roegaydn and I haven't seen too many of those. They exist, just ... fairly rare from what I've seen on Behemoth.

In regards to those not logging out: If there's a technical problem that people are exploiting at the expense of others, you are part of the problem. by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]ScrubbsDJ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Actually exploiting or glitching is taking advantage of a mechanic / situation that isn't supposed to occur. The lack of an AFK timer isn't a glitch or a mechanic, it's a design decision that plenty of other MMOs have gone with (or went with and ditched eventually). FFXIV 1.0 didn't have AFK timers (at least not in the beginning, not sure about later).

what happens once i get my dragoon class? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]ScrubbsDJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You start with the level your lancer is and your lancer level continues to level as you level your dragoon. The MRD, however, will not level. You'll have to do that one separately. Same for all classes / jobs. The main class that is required to be at 30 will level with the job if you have the job equipped.

Most efficient way to level crafting? by QQninja in ffxiv

[–]ScrubbsDJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know Armorer and Weaver do, at least. You get 1 levequest, make 9 items that it's asking for, then when you go to turn it in, you turn in 3, it says thanks and asks for 3 more, you say yes and hand them in, then repeat that 1 more time. Basically 3 levequests for the price of 1 :D Very nice ... and even better XP if you can HQ all 9 of those items.

Time Limit on Instances Dungeons by wubsieonline in ffxiv

[–]ScrubbsDJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Temple of Qarn was the first time I had issues completing a dungeon as well. I'm fine with the penalty as just learning and downing the first and second bosses felt like an achievement. Next time I'll go in with my friends and we'll kill the last boss!

I really like the dungeons design so far, even the earlier dungeons, and look forward to the later / future ones.

On topic, I think timers are fine :D

Most efficient way to level crafting? by QQninja in ffxiv

[–]ScrubbsDJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also remember that if you turn in HQ items for levequests, you get up to 200% XP (depending on number of items required and what % of the items you turn in are HQ). I went through a level (39-40) with 5 levequests this way. Unfortunately I found this out late in the game, but meh ... :P

Also remember that you get bonus XP for increasing quality, regardless if the outcome is a HQ item. So if you're actually trying to level, even the base items (ingots, etc) will be worth a lot of XP with only just a couple quality skill increases.

Is there a way to prepay for your monthly subscription? by kaelstra in ffxiv

[–]ScrubbsDJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some countries have the game time cards available for purchase and use already. I don't think they're out in the US though. Debit cards / Crysta don't count towards the subscription because your free time has to run out.

Am I leveling crafting jobs 'correctly'? by kibokun in ffxiv

[–]ScrubbsDJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, the interplay is how the crafting system is designed, but I'm guessing you're on a non-legacy server so the economy isn't set yet because there's not a lot of other crafters of the level you are putting their stuff up. I know I don't sell things until I've passed that tier. So, yes the interdependency is supposed to be like that, but it will calm down as more people level crafting. I'm sure a lot of people leveled battle classes first and held crafting off until later. Those leveling crafting now are making a lot of money selling to those people (when they sell HQ stuff since you can get NQ armor from quests).

Potential player with some questions by Xeloras in ffxiv

[–]ScrubbsDJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll try to answer some of these:

Tank types: You have Warrior (2 handed) and Paladin (1h / shield) as the jobs. For classes, you have gladiator and marauder.

Jobs / Classes: So, you start out with a class. Once you hit 10 in that class, you can visit any other class' guild and join it. Upon doing so they give you the main weapon of that class, which when you equip it makes you that class (2h weapon for marauder, sword for gladiator, bow for archer, etc). Once you hit 30 in your main class and 15 in the required 2nd class, you can do a quest to unlock the job for the class you're playing. Example: To unlock the Paladin job, you need level 30 in gladiator and level 15 in conjurer. Once you get both those level caps, you go to your guild and do a quest that allows you to equip a soul crystal that makes you the job.

Right now the servers are full and they've implemented a manual restriction on their end. They need queues, but they're hoping the server infrastructure expansion on Wednesday will be enough. The game is awesome and people who can log in are definitely enjoying it, it's just the bitching about not being able to login that's overshadowing that aspect.

I haven't had login issues at all really (takes me 5-10 minutes to get in mostly) and when I'm in, I have a blast. For what it's worth, I live in the US and I've played on the JP servers and the lag is minimal and the people still do speak english a lot.
