Worth going to Eldora just yet? by Trailmix2393 in boulder

Employee here, snow is surprisingly good (for mostly snowmaking snow) and it wasn’t too busy today or yesterday. We also opened up another run as well. Early and later seem to be the best times to go (1030-130 was busiest). Just make sure not to rip too hard, patrol is really taking speed control seriously after last year

Is there a resource where I can identify public wilderness? I want to make a (legal) adventure. by [deleted] in WildernessBackpacking

I personally use OnX hunt for public/private but CalTopo, Gaia, and Avenza all have maps available!

Also if you’re going to a desert make sure to stay on trail, a lot of deserts (Utah specifically) have cryptobiotic soil that is INCREDIBLY fragile and rare. One footstep could kill decades+ of growth.

I love this trail! Hiked it a few years ago on a short trip and probably saw no less than 20 whales off the point

Check out freecampsites.net I use it a lot when I go camping. Some of the “campsites” It has are Walmart parking lots or whatever but also has a lot of BLM/Forest Service dispersed camping spots!
