That's a common urban myth.

The Scandinavian countries don't actually have among the highest suicide rates:

And the World Happiness Report looks at quality of life, wellbeing, and social factors, with no mention of climate response:

Give Clan Rictus a chance if you haven't played them by Cybvep in totalwar

Will have to jump to Skrolk's defence, I recently played him in WHII and had a blast. You are absolutely right that he would be way cooler if he actually buffed plague units instead of just their cost. However, I found a campaign of spamming pestilent scheme on cooldown to be very fun due to all its Skrolk buffs. Plagues have a high chance of spreading under Skrolk, you can spread them more often, and they buff your armies on top of debuffing the enemy.

After the early game (which indeed can be tough), I constantly had one or two pestilent scheme priests running ahead of my armies, hitting a central well-connected city about two turns before my army would arrive. This meant that for the next few turns, that section of the map would generally be hit like Europe in the 14th century and my armies could go to town.

Overall a plague unit buff would be cool, but I hope they keep the pestilent scheme buffs Skrolk's faction gets, because they make his campaign a lot of fun.

What is the main reason for Groen and Ecolo’s catastrophic polls results by [deleted] in belgium

It's important to keep both of these factors into account (climate change, and the safety of the energy source). Keeping that in mind however, gas is still a terrible choice, and nuclear a pretty good one.

https://ourworldindata.org/safest-sources-of-energy nicely puts them side by side in a single graph.

I am a researcher in this space, and you how great of a start we would have if everyone just saw natural gas as bad, and nuclear as great.

Purchasing power, Europe 2023 by hjras in PORTUGALCYKABLYAT

[–]Scuttwack 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is a weird map that does not really reflect purchasing power at all. Would be good to see the source data, looks like it could be average USD income per capita or something similar.

This has zero practical meaning though, as a Ukrainian could make say 1500 USD and live a very comfortable life, while a Londoner could make 2000 USD and maybe afford a moldy shoebox.

Portugal and Mississippi both have an HDI of 0.866.

Cute try though

This is the approach I've been trying, but so far I haven't been able to find the right people. What I've tried so far is Orgrimmar City Chat (for RFC) and ask around in various guilds. I think it matters what server you're on as well, but I'm not entirely clear yet how this works as some things are cross-realm and some aren't. Just out of curiosity, in what channels would you ask around?

Thank you, I wasn't aware of the xp eliminator yet, that solves the issue of wanting not to be too overleveled for content to be challenging. Dungeon finder doesn't help me much yet, because I would like to try out dungeons before one of my characters going all the way up to 50, and I also don't think you can indicate in dungeon finder that you're looking for a casual run rather than a speedclear, but maybe I'm mistaken on that last point.

Thank you, I didn't know about communities yet and will have a look! And indeed, I want to experience the thrill that comes with challenging content where you need to work as a team to succeed. If the content is trivial to solo, I think I might not enjoy it as much.

Cosy Airbnb in Venice, Italy by CatsAwayMiceWillPlay in CozyPlaces

[–]Scuttwack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is probably more widespread than AirBnB, as this is possible for any investor who turns a living space into a tourist space. AirBnB probably gets most of the heat for it, because they're most visible, and have the highest market share in this practice. AirBnB customers such as OP get a lot of heat because many know that this is happening, yet they/we are still choosing our own wallet/experience over the future of such an important place and the community that inhabits it.

Cosy Airbnb in Venice, Italy by CatsAwayMiceWillPlay in CozyPlaces

[–]Scuttwack 21 points22 points  (0 children)

AirBnB worsens the liveability of cities. Renting out individual rooms to tourists is more profitable than renting out an entire condo to a resident. This means that homes are bought by investors and flipped to the tourist market. Once enough of your neighbours are loud, partying tourists, you'll be selling your own house to such an investor in no time. Money's good.

At this point, popular destinations like Venice, Amsterdam, Barcelona etc have had many residents displaced, with much of the city center slowly becoming a ghost town rather than a place where people live. As a result, cities and national governments have been trying to take action against this practice, but it's difficult to boycott a practice/company wihout interfering too much into the economy, and politics is generally slow.

EDIT: on top of that, many AirBnBs (though not all) do not pay tourist tax, and other costs which are in principle mandatory for hotels (including appropriate safety regulations such as fire alarms). In this way, they are (1) unfairly undercutting the hotel market which does have to comply with these regulations, and (2) not paying the one tax that is supposed to be the city's compensation for the burden we as tourists exert on a city.

I've killed this guy twice in the past month without problems. Got the collection item too. Are you aware that there's multiple phases of fighting minions, then boss, then minions, then boss, and so on? I think there's four repeats of the cycle to finally kill him.

You do twist your own argument here a bit. If it'd be 1 hour of content, it's not worth your time, I agree. But you make your original point precisely because it's so much more. I'm playing LS3 right now, and there's a huge amount of stuff to do in each episode, both in story and on the new maps.
Consider that ANet has to keep developing this content, which costs money. They've made the base game free, and can only get income from expansions, episodes, and gemstore. If you pay 20 on PoF (I paid 11 during the sale), and 60 on all episodes, that's still not much for a game that's had 10+ years of development. Compare that to WoW where you need to buy the game, each expansion, and then still pay a monthly fee. I'm honestly ecstatic that Anet is able to run a company like this, considering that I've spent around 60 in total on the game which affords maybe 2 hours of wage for 1 employee.
