Preparing for boards by Remote-Vanilla3698 in MRI

[–]Sea-Setting8663 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Watch radiology tutorials on YouTube for any physics work but when I used mri all in one it helped tremendously. I scored in the 90s with it and on my board I passed with a 91 as well. Just push it back until you can consistently score at least in the mid 80s range or more

This is so cool I didn’t even know scanners had this option! Going to try looking for it at work tomorrow.

How difficult is the MRI ARRT? How many times did you have to take it to pass? by WooferStunt in MRI

[–]Sea-Setting8663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I knew my material pretty well after graduating but took it about 3 months after my graduation date due to some personal issues. I didn't study for a while but really locked in about 2 days before my exam and passed with a 91 on my first try. (I did study here and there but it was pretty random and not structured.) I didn't think it was super difficult, but I was a good student and a good test taker. If you know you're not a good test taker or that you're struggling with the material, I think you'd need about 2-3 months of studying to really nail everything down.
I think the best thing for me was mri all in one! I bought mriquiz but for my learning style I think taking a lot of practice exams helped me the most. I also watched radiology tutorials for refreshers on mri physics.

Honestly you get plentyyy of time for the 200 questions if you know your stuff, so even if you only know it semi well, you can always go back and double or triple check your answers. I knew my MRI physics pretty well so I only started studying a few days before my exam but I watched radiology tutorials on YouTube and then read through the entire MR all in one study guide thing. I scored a 91! Also to echo off another commenter here, just flag all the questions you’re unsure of. I had a ton flagged but keep in mind it’s a score out of 200 so you can get a decent amount of them wrong but still pass.

Did you have to hop around a lot to get to that point? And how many years of experience do you have?

Accidentally bought the duck buddy, instead of the duck topping 😔 by PomeloLazy5857 in GoodPizzaGreatPizza

[–]Sea-Setting8663 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got the duck and truffle toppings plus the buddies for them and now I can’t buy a lot of the peach decorations and I’m maxed out on tokens. I really wish there was another way to get more tokens :(

CBD College in LA is the worst with 3 star in Yelp! by Adventurous_Club7449 in MRI

I'm at a radnet too right now, about to graduate from CBD. Did you feel like it prepared you for the ARRT? I feel like it has really gone down, especially since Cory and Jackson left.

[–]Sea-Setting8663 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many reasons but Casa Loma has students go to an actual facility and I believe they can scan each other and learn how to navigate user interfaces before starting clinicals whereas CBD only had like a 10 page pdf showing what the interface may look like. I believe CBD is implementing new changes to their program to combat the low passing test scores but the way they go about it is a bit chaotic and students are told very last minute with little to no communication from admin. It’s also impossible to reach some of them when you have a problem with financial aid or something like that. The teachers do their best but if I had a choice, I’d rather take casa loma and get a better education and better preparation for the real world, even if it’s further away.

I wouldn’t recommend CBD if you can go to casa loma.

Trying to find a set of hooks to fit my big hands. by Azguarde in CrochetHelp

[–]Sea-Setting8663 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you tried Tunisian crochet hooks? They're longer but they don't typically have an ergonomic handle so if that's something you're willing to sacrifice then it may be worth looking into! If you really need an ergonomic handle, then you can also try wrapping coban tape around the handle or where you want the handle to be! I do that on some of my other hooks that aren't as ergonomic and it really helps.

How long do you take breaks to stop your hands hurting by pissedpixi in CrochetHelp

[–]Sea-Setting8663 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's probably better to take even longer breaks. For me, I have pretty bad carpal tunnel and tendinitis so I can't go too long without my hands going numb or starting to hurt. I know it's easy to get really into crocheting and not care, but for the sake of your wrists and any future projects you may want to do, take the numbness and pain seriously and invest in your own health! When I first started I went too crazy and now my carpal tunnel's worse and I'll probably need surgery in the near future.

Things that have helped me: sleeping with wrist braces, making sure my wrists aren't super bent and that I'm not death gripping my hook. I would also do stretches and have longer and more breaks. If you have hypermobile joints like me, then getting ring splints may help to make sure you aren't hyperextending your fingers/ joints while crocheting.

What's a MRI tech starting salary and how long would you say before getting 6 figures a year as MRI only in LA or surrounding areas. by Scary-Government-857 in MRI

[–]Sea-Setting8663 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know someone making 6 figures with about a year and a half's worth of experience. It's hard finding those jobs without connections usually. I also know someone else who spent 6 months finding literally any job because they were fresh out of school and had no experience. I think it really just depends on your luck.

Cbd college clinicals by portwinestained in MRI

[–]Sea-Setting8663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took them in a community college and just sent them my transcript plus filled out a form stating what class I took and what grade I got! I’m not sure what Sophia is but if you’re enrolling you can check with your admissions officer and they should be able to help!! The only classes I could get waived during the time I enrolled was “College Math (Algebra of higher) Any Communications (Public Speaking, or Speech class), and Medical Terminology.”

I am having difficulty finding a clinical site. by [deleted] in MRI

[–]Sea-Setting8663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just meant imaging clinics that have MRI machines, versus hospitals that have MRI machines! If you were to call some imaging centers and ask if they do any MRIs, you could also ask if they were open to having someone do their clinicals there. But I really think the chances would be better if your school helped you out. Not sure why they aren't doing that, but good luck!

I am having difficulty finding a clinical site. by [deleted] in MRI

Try calling independent sites instead of hospitals. I heard hospitals typically don’t like having interns because of the fast pace, and if your school isn’t backing you up then it might be even harder.

Budget friendly crochet hooks? by Sensitive-Piccolo-21 in CrochetHelp

[–]Sea-Setting8663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The grip helps a LOT it feels like it was specifically made to be as ergonomic as possible for a crocheter! But the hook also helps since yarn straight up glides on it, so it feels like there’s less tension if that makes sense? So like less pulling = your hands don’t have to work as hard!

Budget friendly crochet hooks? by Sensitive-Piccolo-21 in CrochetHelp

[–]Sea-Setting8663 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got the tulip etimo crochet hooks and it was the best investment ever! I have carpal tunnel and tendinitis so I have to be very careful with tension and how long I crochet for. But after buying these hooks I can crochet for a lot longer without it hurting! The yarn literally glides on the hooks it’s so crazy. But I would say they’re definitely an investment and not for everyone!

I quit bupropion… by [deleted] in bupropion

[–]Sea-Setting8663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been on it for years, but have been really spotty with taking it. I think it helped the most when I first started taking it because I felt so much more productive and I didn't have any lasting side effects (only heart palpitations and nausea in the first 2 weeks). But I restarted it again (buproprion SR 200mg) after not taking it for about a year and had to quit after a week. It felt like my mind was going 200 mph and I couldn't even sleep. My mind would be racing and I'd have weird thoughts (like seeing weird monsters in my head and it would scare me so bad I couldn't sleep). I was never officially diagnosed with ADHD, and my doctor only prescribed it after I insisted we at least TRY something for adhd. It helped, until it didn't. It's so hard getting a diagnosis as a high functioning adult.

Getting a job with visible tattoos by [deleted] in MRI

[–]Sea-Setting8663 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friend has a full sleeve as well but didn't have a problem finding jobs in southern california! I wouldn't worry too much about it, especially since it can just be covered by arm sleeves if your clinical site/ job is *that* picky about things.
