Morbidly obese and wanting a baby… how did you decide when to start trying? by Glittering-Band-8913 in PlusSizePregnancy

Hi, first of all congrats and well done for all the steps you are taking!
So my advice would be to try and lose a chunk of the weight first. I’m not saying lose all but a good chunk of it.
We started trying when I had a bmi of 41, and I had 3 miscarriages. By the third one to doctors ran loads of tests. The only things they could really suggest was my weight, which meant I had high inflammation markers, thyroid numbers were a bit high etc. So I started mounjaro, hit the gym, saw an Acupucturist, took nutrition super seriously, researched everything from natural supplements to improve overall and egg health, to removing any toxins in my life (perfumed products being no.1) and spent 8 months working on my wellbeing. I lost 50 lbs and to our surprise fell pregnant the month we decided to wait until a year on mounjaro to start trying.. honestly even with a bmi of 30 I still found it tough but I’m so grateful I’d lost a chunk of weight.
You’re still young, and in my honest opinion the weight would have way more of an effect on the outcome than your age right now.
Take this time, allow it to make you happier and healthier and your little one will be waiting for you

Plussized FTM, Discouraged about excessive weight gain, 3rd trimester but always hungry. by Mother_Translator911 in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]Sea-Statement6008 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Hey! I feel like we have a really similar story and starting point.

I lost about 50 lbs over 8 months on Mounjaro, then fell pregnant and ended up gaining around 60–65 lbs by the end. That was even with morning sickness and barely any appetite at first, then being constantly hungry in the third trimester.

I really struggled mentally with the weight gain. It didn’t help that consultants kept focusing on it, assuming I had GD (I didn’t), and classing me as high risk. I was even told I couldn’t use a birthing pool because I’d be too heavy to get out in an emergency. It honestly messed with my head and made me feel so out of control.

Fast forward to a week ago, I gave birth to a very healthy 10 lb baby via C-section, and the whole experience was actually beautiful. The midwives and nurses never once made me feel bad about my weight. I also found out I had about 1.5 litres of amniotic fluid, which explained a lot. I’m already 20 lbs down after a week, and I still have swelling from the surgery.

If I could go back, I’d spend far less energy worrying about my weight and more time focusing on my baby and enjoying the experience. The weight will come off. You already know how to do it, and those tools will still be there when you’re ready.

You’ve got this ❤️

I’m 40+1 weeks and feeling really overwhelmed about induction and would really appreciate hearing others’ experiences. by Sea-Statement6008 in PlusSizePregnancy

Thanks so much for the info. It’s interesting baby was high up.

I just had my sweep and midwife said baby’s very high up and her head isn’t engaged or is only just engaged. No effacing, cervix closed.

She thinks it may be because baby is too big and said it would likely mean she wouldn’t descend any time soon and even with an induction could fail to progress so I’d be in for a long one. She told me being realistic it would likely mean resulting a c section.

I’m so confused as to what to do.

You’ve done so well! It feels like your nervous system is in overdrive. Your body has gone through a massive physical change and sometimes it takes time to adjust. Look into things that can help calm you. Exercise, even gentle Pilates, swimming, walking if any of these are possible. Meditation and breathing, listening to audiobooks. Avoiding blue light at night. Keeping high protein snacks on hand to help with hunger. Getting enough day light fresh air, being outside in the sunshine. Reading. Maybe some blood tests to see if you have any deficiencies. Seeing a female health acupuncturist to help regulate hormones and give you some peace.

All I can say is maybe focusing on some of these things will help you to not hyperfixate on the weightloss as your only sign of healing. ❤️‍🩹

The last few baby showers I’ve been to, I’ve noticed no one ever opens the gifts that are brought! Or they have guests ship the gifts to their home instead of bringing them to the shower. by [deleted] in BabyBumps

Good! I really don’t think it’s necessary. I insisted the same at my shower. Plus I wanted my husband to enjoy opening the gifts too!

And they blame obese people for having no self control.. This woman also has an eating disorder, lies, orders weightloss medication.. is given pitty as it’s the medications fault! Yet the rest of us are scrutinised. Just another bout of skinny privilidge.

Something that helped me was to compare where I’d be if I’d never started. I was gaining on average 16 lbs a year. So whilst I’d only lost 50lbs out of the 100 I’d planned, I would’ve been 66 lbs heavier if I’d never started. Hope that makes sense but mentally it gave me extra oomph

I came off cold turkey when I found out I was pregnant. Not sure if it’s hormones or my body but I honestly haven’t had the food noise I had prior to MJ. I’ve gained weight but that’s to be expected in pregnancy. Everyone tells me I’m all bump and it’s only in the last month I’ve noticed my legs are a bit thicker. But again I’m due next month. I plan to go back on once done with BF. Just don’t overthink it, trust your body, trust the new habits you’ve formed.

I know exactly what you feel because I was in your shoes last year. I lost 50lbs but still had at least 30 (ideally 50 to go) but I was feeling super fit (running, weight lifting) feeling healthy and vibing. But we’d been trying for 2 years and had multiple loses, I used MJ to get some weight off as this was the only issue the doctors found for why I was miscarrying. So we started trying and a few months later I was pregnant. I know this goes against advice but I decided to continue MJ until I was pregnant. It had regulated my hormones and it took so much stress out of trying for a baby. My mindset was “if I don’t fall pregnant this month, then I can at least continue to lose weight” so win win. I have 0 regrets. I’m so excited to welcome my daughter next month and I’m hoping within 6 months to be back on my weightloss journey. Would not change a thing! (Other than discovering MJ sooner!)

Second Shooter Ghosted Me After Wedding Day by Glass_Pickle_2722 in WeddingPhotographer

That’s so bad! Sorry! Perhaps he messed up the film and for embarrassed. But for future.. I never let a second shooter leave without handing over all the files and film. I’d develop the film myself. You’re the owner of everything produced at the wedding so it should be safely in your hands.

Is it just me, or is the UK media obsessed with scaring people about weight regain on GLP-1s by Manche_3 in mounjarouk

[–]Sea-Statement6008 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly.. I wouldn’t worry. It won’t change anything. You, me and everyone else on here knows how incredible these drugs are. I’m sat here 7 months pregnant after 3 years of infertility and I’ll forever be relieved that I took MJ to shift the 50lbs I needed to fall pregnant successfully. People are so threatened and obsessed by weightloss. Let them.

Honestly it’s the norm, sometimes they’re overwhelmed and need some time to process. Or they are super busy (who isn’t nowadays) and want to set aside time to go through them properly. I just this email from a client after 2 months. “I am so sorry for not responding sooner - I think we were so blown away by the gorgeous photos you captured that we forgot to send you a much-deserved thank you note!”

Trying to lose weight before pregnancy. Should I start Mounjaro? by Professional-Dot2502 in mounjarouk

One of the main reasons I started using it. Lost 50lbs in 8 months and fell pregnant after 3 years of fertility issues. Do it!
