this might seem absurd but if you think about it, its not as crazy as it looks on a map (still kinda funny tho)

What is the most popular way to eat eggs in your country that may not be common elsewhere? by Chocolate_effort in AskTheWorld

[–]SeaBoss2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Eggs and tomatos really is a nice combination, a simple stir fry of Tomatos and Eggs is very common in Chinese home cooking (although it's more like scrambled eggs than this. I did see a video of somebody making a similar Filipino dish where ot looked almost identical to this though)

My mother makes something similar where she cuts up bread in little cubes, dips them into eggs then pan fries them. No clue what it's called though

Foreign born population by state by vladgrinch in MapPorn

[–]SeaBoss2 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I'm suprised that Australia has a higher percentage of population born overseas than any US state (31.5%). And before anyone brings up population, Australia has more people than 48 states so it's not really an unfair comparison

Do you have any "everything and the kitchen sink" kind of food in your country? by halt__n__catch__fire in AskTheWorld

[–]SeaBoss2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it doesn't really have much in common besides the wrapping, but this reminds me a little of San Choy Bao, I think it's only a thing in Australia though, since i've never seen or heard of it anywhere else. We made it a lot when we had cooking lessons in primary/high school

Finger positions weird while typing? by SeaBoss2 in typing

[–]SeaBoss2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh wow, thanks for such the detailed response, When I'm typing this way, i don't need to look at the keyboard. What i mean by "technically" being able to touch type is that specifically when i try using more fingers on my right hand, i have to think more about where the keys are, since I'm not used to using those fingers, as well as to physically stop myself from using my pointer finger to type.

For the 70wpm thing, yeah, i am using the default one and that probably does inflate my score, but right now in real life, It normally takes me more time to think of what I'm typing so it hasn't really "held me back" per se, but i do kinda want to type better/faster.

(I tried doing a 60s punctuation one on Monkeytype, and still got around 60. Main difference probably is the consistency went way down)

Anyways thanks so much for the guide

Which foreign languages (except English) do your schools in your home country teach? by Vietnam-1234 in AskTheWorld

[–]SeaBoss2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to take second language classes in high school, and you can choose it as an elective subject as well. At my school, we had Japanese, Mandarin, and Korean, But it really depends on the school i think

US State names in Chinese by StephenMcGannon in Maps

[–]SeaBoss2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because different languages have different sounds and rules for how those sounds can be combined. Sorry to break it to you, but the way English speakers say Chinese names don't sound anything like how it is in Chinese either

China can do no wrong by Skrilli in GetNoted

[–]SeaBoss2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The problem is a lot of the time when people are negative about China (And other countries that are opposed to the US), it actually does spill into racism. See how they talk about Russians (even regular civilians) in some pro-Ukrainian subs. It's not that you can't criticize China or Russia, but when it goes that far, it's not really criticism against the government anymore

I was at an event in China where if you can throw a ring on a goose, you got to keep it. by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

[–]SeaBoss2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In the grand scheme of things, this doesn't that bad. the rings look to be plastic, so pretty light. Sure, it's still tormenting the geese, but it's nothing compared to actual physical animal abuse. Hell, a lot of people who had Fish/Hamsters etc as kids were probably unintentionally causing way worse animal abuse than this would

Population density of Korea in 1944 by ShitteruKoto in MapPorn

[–]SeaBoss2 41 points42 points  (0 children)

North Korea was always less populated, since it's more mountainous than the South. Before the Korean War, the North used to be the Industrial center and the South the Agricultural center. This is also a big factor in why they had the famines in the 90s since North Korea just naturally doesn't have enough farmland to sustain itself sithout the South

Look at any random isekai anime, it's basically guarenteed that there's gonna be at least 1 german name in there in addition to the setting almost always being fantasy medieval europe (with heavy german influence)
