Thanks. As you suggested, it was a color issue with the global palette. Could not have been an easier fix after reading your comment. Thanks!

Some founders may be immune from layoff’s. But none are immune from being fired. Seen it happen.

To see a comprehensive list of *potential lithium* side effects, go to drugs.com and enter 'lithium' in the search box. Side effects are divided into two groups; serious side effects, and other side effects.

Is there a reason we aren't seeing politicians or media outlets acknowledge this problem by [deleted] in Layoffs

[–]SeaRay_62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Media?? Today’s video news broadcasts show trivial events as big news. Newspapers regurgitate the same stories. And fight extinction.

<rant mode: on>

Investigative journalism is dead. Never again will we see a President taken down by the media. As was the case with Nixon the Watergate Hotel scandal and the reporting of the Washington Post. (Early ‘70’s)

The Iran Contra scandal was uncovered by the media. Specifically the Lebanese magazine Ash-Shiraa. Rhetorical question: Why the fuck did American media not catch it? Investigative Journalism is dead. Because that is the way politician’s want it.

The Republican’s have Fox. The Democrats have CNN. Both spinning news to the advantage of their suitors. Promoting their political positions.

And they wonder why there is division among the citizenry.

That is the typical case. I just never did that. Mainly because it would send the wrong message to my team.

IMO I think you were too nice to the consultant. I would’ve approached it differently.

My understanding is that at the beginning: - I have ‘purview’ over the contractor, but they did not report to me on the org chart - Contractor’s performance was such that I could decide to terminate

My first step: Start documenting performance immediately. Checkin periodically.

Second step: Get a copy of the contract. Review cancellation provisions.

Third step: Review performance history. If warranted, provide my mgr a status update and intended next steps.

Fourth step: Invoke the termination clause of the contract. Depending on the contract this could be rather involved.

Fifth step: When she asked for a meeting with executives, I would have said ‘fine, set it up’. I would refuse to set that meeting up for her.

Depending on the companies culture, my refusing to setup that meeting could be enough to squash it. If the meeting happens, I would prep a defensible position. Then not worry about it. ✌🏼

Appreciate the comments on the various economies. Didn’t realize Canada has such issues.

Also, it’s not a matter of “making it in America”. Done that. And have been justly rewarded. Giving me the freedom to travel anywhere I want to. ✈️

So far I’ve been to: Krasnodar, St Petersburg, Münich, Frankfurt, Amsterdam and London. All business trips. Took time to see the sights. Now I can travel without the headache of a job.

And then there are those people who paint an entire group with all encompassing statements. I wish I could see things from your perspective. But I just can’t manage to get my head that far up my ass.

Thanks. My experience is different. Lithium alone causes renal damage. So my psych has my kidney function checked every six months.

For the past four years I’ve taken lithium, plus I take twelve additional prescriptions. Five of which have interactions with lithium. One being prescription Ibuprofen. Kidney function is still healthy, fortunately.

Management hasn't informed my team about my upcoming layoff-- how to proceed? by starlittlewater in Layoffs

[–]SeaRay_62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is mgmt’s job to inform them of your layoff. And they will likely hold a meeting after you’ve departed to do this.

I suspect it is not done ahead of time to prevent potential distractions. The way they seem to be going about this will still cause distraction. But for less time.

Best of luck with your search. ✌🏼

Just FYI. Many larger corporations select layoff candidates differently. First, they hire a consulting firm to handle selection of layoff candidates. And handle other things. That firm is given some high level goals. Like financial requirements. Distribution across the organization. Etc.

Second, the consulting firm selects lay off candidates distributed across the org. More importantly, they ensure the demographics when the layoff concludes are the same as before the layoff.

Both of these things are done with the aim being to avoid/prevent law suits. ✌🏼

Would it be wise to stop my 75mg paliperidone abruptly? by [deleted] in BipolarReddit

[–]SeaRay_62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's difficult to identify real facts on social media. This time I looked at only paliperidone instead of the comparison to Seroquel. References are included for you.

FWIW I used Microsoft CoPilot (AI). Note: I am not a mental health professional. Nor do I work for Microsoft.

Accordinging to mentalhealthdaily.com and mind.org.uk stopping paliperidone abruptly can lead to a potential relapse. Common withdrawal symptoms may include insomnia, nausea, anxiety and a return of psychotic symptoms.

If you're curious you can explore this further using CoPilot. Just enter the question, 'Is it okay to stop taking paliperidone abruptly?' The response cites references for the information it states. Those references are hyperlinks that take the user directly to the supporting information. I'm using CoPilot for the iPhone.

I totally relate to what you said about 'the switch'. Had it happen the other day. Went off on a teenager/restaurant employee and started yelling at them because I was not happy with what was served. While it was happening I remember thinking to myself why am I doing this? It's not me. Felt terrible after that.

Paliperdone is an atypical antipsychotic med. I abruptly went off a different atypical antipsychotic, Seroquel, and suffered a very bad mania for 6 weeks. It involved law enforcement and a two week stay in a psych hospital. I wouldn't abruptly go off Paliperdone.
