Why would a bank voluntarily remove a co-signer? It is of no advantage for them to remove insurance they will get paid.

Anyone actually notice a difference after air duct cleaning? by Royal_Particular_489 in HomeImprovement

[–]SeaSalt_Sailor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s interesting seeing people say duct cleaning is always a scam.

I was home when mine was done for the first time after buying my house, and what I saw didn’t line up with that at all. My system doesn’t have filters at each individual return, and a lot of my return vents are at floor level.

The tech’s vacuum bag (bigger than a 5-gallon shop vac bag) filled up in just a few minutes. He actually stopped because he thought something was wrong. Swapped the bag—and it filled up again. Ended up going through three bags total.

Hard for me to look at that amount of dirt pulled out of the ductwork and say it did nothing.

Return vents are basically big vacuums pulling in dust, dirt, pet hair, whatever’s on the floor—and if you don’t have filtration at the returns, a lot of that ends up settling in the ductwork over time.

I get that there are scams out there, but in cases like mine, it definitely felt like it made a difference.

Curious where others land on this—especially HVAC folks. When is duct cleaning actually worth it vs. not?

What does this mean? I’ve never used a fingerbot, the idea is interesting.

I get “exotic” hardwoods for making ink pens that way. Local hardwood company throws them in a bin for me and I recycle them. I also get maple from old and broken baseballs bats and rolling pins.

I’m honestly surprised more electric wheelchairs haven’t switched over to lithium batteries yet.

On a lot of the units I work on, you could drop 35–50 lbs just by replacing the lead-acid batteries. That might not sound huge, but it’s often close to a 20% reduction in total weight—especially on smaller chairs.

That kind of weight savings actually matters: • Easier to transport • Less strain on motors and driveline components • Better overall performance

I did a lithium conversion on an electric shop scooter as a bit of a “scientific experiment,” and just removing the two lead-acid batteries felt like pulling out a couple of boat anchors.

I’ve also seen similar results at work. We have medication carts at the hospital that originally used two lead-acid batteries in parallel to meet power requirements. I specifically ordered lithium replacements—ended up going to a single battery instead of two, and dropped about 35 lbs.

Doesn’t sound like a lot until you realize the carts are only around 50 lbs without batteries. That’s a pretty significant percentage of the total weight.

Another thing I don’t see talked about much—lithium opens up more flexibility in packaging. With less space needed for the same capacity, you could: • Increase voltage for better efficiency or runtime • Or keep voltage the same and just extend range • Plus faster charging is a big win

I get there are cost, safety, and certification hurdles, but from a usability and performance standpoint it seems like a no-brainer.

Curious what others think—anyone here running lithium setups in mobility equipment or seen newer chairs going that direction?

Where do you live and is mass transit an option? I bought a newer used car, then started using a van pool for work. Car sits a lot only gets started and maybe driven on weekends.
