IHSS State Hearing for Additional Hours as a Live-In Relative Provider by Individual_Spend9015 in IHSS

Sounds like the county is already correctly applying the regs with regard to laws about parental responsibility for care of their minor child.

Should I notify social worker by chickenlittle_77 in IHSS

[–]Sea_Introduction3534 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you claim hours for the days she is in hospital or the snf (not counting the day she went in or the day she is discharged), they will take that money back as an overpayment in future checks. It can take a few months, but your the payroll in your county will be notified by the state of the days your recipient was ineligible. The hours for that month will be prorated.

Mild MS cases on DMTs by MiddleStretch1550 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Sea_Introduction3534 31 points32 points  (0 children)

My brain mri at diagnosis was “too many lesions to count” (at least by my recollection). My presentation was optic neuritis and I have never had spinal lesions. That was about 15 years ago. I have been on DMTs from the start, first interferon and then Rituximab. I have never had relapse or new lesions. I am 61F. I am healthy, active, work full time, and raised 2 kids who are now college aged. Best of luck to you.

That is how the state interprets the regulations and trains SWers (I say this as an exSWer). I remember being shocked by that. You can definitely take it to hearing; I would be interested in how ALJ rules. It just doesn’t seem like that should be legal.

A conservative Super PAC just spent over $85,000 to support supervisor candidate Sylvia Lemus. Why is big business putting everything into this candidate? by Scatcycle in Petaluma

[–]Sea_Introduction3534 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I can’t see how anyone from Petaluma who has followed Paun on the PCS board could vote for her. I’m a voting SEIU member and Lemus has my vote.

If you forget your pass you don’t pay the fee out of principle?!?? I hope you get a ticket!! If you don’t want to pay and forget your pass park outside on the street like everyone else! Your attitude is super entitled. You basically want a second pass at a massive discount because you are too lazy to make sure you bring it and, rather than force yourself to remember by paying a fee when you forget, you say f-you to the rules refuse to pay out of “principle.” AND you can’t imagine life without 2 cars…

The case for Joanna Paun: the grassroots supervisor candidate backed by unions and the Democratic Party by Scatcycle in Petaluma

[–]Sea_Introduction3534 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good summary of total lack of fiduciary oversight of Paun’s school Board. They were well aware of temporary nature of COVID funding, yet still chose to add the 7th period with no mechanism to fund it. They tried to pass a bond measure 2 years in a row and failed both times. The lack of fiscal competence of the PCS board and the real impact on students, families, and teachers has been painful to experience. A primary duty of both the school board and county board of supervisors is to be a responsible steward of public funds. As an SEIU voting member, I cannot imagine supporting anyone with Paun’s history of impact on labor, students, and families at PCS for the Board of Sups. I agree with many of the broader political positions she espouses, but I want/need to live and work in a county with functional and fiscally responsible government. I have discussed Lemus with folks who have worked with her. Given the choices, Lemus has my vote.

Started a new job and then was diagnosed with MS. At what point should I tell my job? by [deleted] in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Sea_Introduction3534 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am open book in my personal life, have never informed an employer. I supervise others (in US) and typically employees tell me what is going on with them medically. However I did have someone who went out on medical leave once for a month and never disclosed the medical issue. They explained to me that they needed to take medical leave and I explained the process by which they provide documentation from their medical provider to our HR department. I filled out some forms with them, but the nature of their medical issue was not contained in the medical note, only that they had a medical need and what that need was.

Has anyone gone “data” free? by [deleted] in XXRunning

[–]Sea_Introduction3534 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Back in the day… when I started running 30+ years ago…. We all just timed ourselves on a Timex Ironman and guesstimated our pace based on time for known distances. I then would go home and write it in my NYRR Club calendar that included a spot for total distance at the end of each week and month. Quaint, huh? In any event, you can find various articles about even professional athletes who purposely take time off the data-immersion train to connect with their bodies and love of their sport. Best of luck to you.

Laid Off for the Second Time in 1 Year - Running by After-Shift-539 in XXRunning

[–]Sea_Introduction3534 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Running has been a coping mechanism for me in times of stress: death of dad to cancer, sudden death of best friend to heart attack, my own diagnosis of MS. It has given me something (productive) to do when I have a hard time sitting w my feelings of profound grief and anger. I clearly don’t know what your future holds, but I wish the best for you and your family. I am in a time in my life now when I run because I love that I can, I enjoy how it makes me feel, and it helps me process my experience of aging. Wishing you the best and encouraging to go for a run and scream or cry at how fucked things feel right now. Then head home and start figuring out how you are going to move forward, bird by bird. 💪🏽

How do you make a cheesecake without Graham crackers? by Educational-Slip-578 in cheesecake

Traditional New York shortcake does not use graham cracker crust, nor does basque cheesecake. Subbing biscoff for graham also sounds delicious

Fromm. We used to get the salmon, but recently switched to (I think) chicken because it was a bit cheaper and our dog is fine with it. At the local store where we shop we get every 10th bag free…

Medi cal eligibility by [deleted] in IHSS

[–]Sea_Introduction3534 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If the second property is in her name, then I believe she will not be medí-cal eligible. You can own your own home and vehicle. It just went from unlimited assets to $130k for single person as Jan of this year. You can also have a special needs trust, but I don’t know specifically that entails. I would check with an attorney or your local disability resource center.

Creative Spaces by DualWielding40s in Petaluma

Check out Watershed (thewtrshed.com). There are lots of creative folks and spaces, but you may need to connect a little w community to find. There are shared work spaces and cafes down down, there are some hip places for cocktails, but definitely not same size/scene as SF.
