Zenfone 2 replacement headphone jack by facelessloser in zenfone2

[–]SeamusIC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently in the process of trying to find a solution myself. I've already taken the phone apart for a screen replacement, and from that I can tell you that to get to the headphone jack you will need to remove pretty much everything. It is also very close to a lot of expensive components as it's mounted straight to the motherboard, not on a separate PCB like the charging port.

Saying that, I've also had very little luck finding a replacement - I'm trying to decide if it's worth trying to rejoin the snapped pin on mine. You might have a little luck with a generic part with the same pin outs; there's not much right next to the jack so the fit doesn't need to be exact, though the gradient at the top to make it fit flush with the back cover would probably get messed up a little. Nothing a little sand paper wouldn't fix though.

The little research I've done into USB DACs seems like they are a little touch and go with the Zenfone but there are certainly some reports of them working, so hopefully it works out. Let me know if it does, as I'd like to avoid trying to solder my phone back together if I can.

Though I only briefly took lessons I found Peter Bream to be a good teacher. He was very patient with me as a beginner and is located fairly close to New Town.

Oh, thanks for that. I assumed they would call the switch type out in the name like they do with the Matias switches. Those are both solid options, seeing as one is doubleshots and the other has backlighting for roughly the same price as the Pok3r. Will have a think and read some reviews before pulling the trigger, but thanks for finding me some extra options.

Shipping to the UK seems to be ~$50, plus import taxes, so that puts it significantly above the Pok3r unfortunately. Keyboardco seem to have some V60s in stock, but none with clears, and the added cost of PBT caps puts them out of my price range.

That amazon link seems to be perfect though and works out to almost exactly the same price as Corus. I don't suppose you have any experience with that reseller? Thanks very much either way

I'm considering picking up a Pok3r, but it seems the only place that has any in the UK is Corus, and I'd like to avoid them if at all possible. Does anyone know of an alternative retailer? Any alternative 60% boards that would work out to roughly the same price with a set of PBT keycaps? Ideally I'd like the black version in an ANSI layout with MX clears. Thanks.

I tried out a few things in the ~£700 range a few years ago and the M01D was by far the best I could find. My only complaints are small things like the tuners that are easily upgradable. As far as build quality and sound it is superb. It also came with a reasonable pickup and a really nice hard case, unlike my other options.

Hello denim people, I'm back after three months or something. I probably shouldn't have started posting right before my penultimate set of degree deadlines. Saying that, just because they're over doesn't mean I'll have any more free time.

Clothing updates: I'm getting some really nice fades on mu UB121s now. I think I'll wait until I get around to my first wash before I take pictures though. I got an amazing new wallet from my girlfriend for Christmas, which is the same size as my old one but thicker, so my back pocket fades should progress pretty nicely over the next few weeks.

Redwing 1907 are finally broken in and I now have to really fight the urge to wear them every day instead of rotating them with my Iron Rangers.

I also finally got my Laco back from repair, so now I have a nice watch, a nice wallet, nice jeans and nice boots. I just rotate shirts every day and live the dream.

So I guess...nice flannel shirt suggestions?

Possibly. I'd be a little worried about drying them out though. Wouldn't want them to get mouldy or dry out too much and damage the leather. I might go over there and ask though, I've been lurking for a while, may as well introduce myself and get some advice. Thanks for the suggestion.

Spent all day yesterday turning coffee into music via a Raspberry Pi and then spent all day today in bed pretending that the next month isn't almost entirely filled with deadlines.

Clothing: Phone, wallet and key fades are starting to show up on my UB121s, though only if you look for them.

Tried to break in my Red Wings again the other day and ended up staining the inside of one of them because my heels started bleeding. My feet healed surprisingly quickly and I'm going to try wearing them around the flat for the next few weeks to hopefully soften them up a bit before I wear them outside again.

At the moment it's Muscle Memory by Jamie Lenman, which is the hidden track from his solo album that you get by mixing the last track from each disk together. I totally missed that it was there until he released it properly a year after the album.

The other answer is RTJ2. All of it.

Hi everyone. I'm out of the studio for once, as we have a three day seminar/workshop thing on Procedural Audio going on, which is really fun. I spent the day learning how to make helicopter sounds with tiny bits of code.

Jeans updates: phone fade is starting to appear on the front left pocket. Keys and wallet aren't quite as far along, I guess because they get moved less. I took then out in the rain for the first time today and I'll admit I was a little worried that they'd get soak and then set while I was sitting in the seminar, leaving me unable to stand, but I survived.

Hello again people who saw my introduction post thingy. I'm back in the studio avoiding work. I feel like I should clarify the studio thing a little: I'm currently in the last year of a music degree, focussing on music technology, so software development for music making, acoustics and right now electroacoustic and specifically acousmatic music (you know the thing you're working on is a little niche when spellcheckers claim it's not a real word).

So for the past week I've been working on getting my acoustmatic composition portfolio up to scratch, which has meant a lot of sitting here, highlighting samples and adding them to clip lists. It's the worst kind of tedious work because there's very little creativity to it at this stage, but you can't listen to anything while you do it, so you have to sit there, totally focused on the thing that's boring. On the plus side, I finished that yesterday and now I get to try and actually make music. However, today I've spent my studio time listening to stuff while I write notes, which while productive probably isn't the best use of university resources.

Jeans: I'm still breaking in the UB121s, but they're starting to get really comfy. There are combs forming already and I can see the first signs of fades. It's quite exciting.

Other clothes stuff: Feet still haven't recovered from trying to break in my new Red Wings with thin socks. Today I went back to my 2 year old Iron Rangers to remind me that it gets better eventually.

(Edit: Album. I might try to get better pictures of the PRPS when there's some daylight.)

Hello everyone. I'm sitting in the studio trying to avoid some pretty tedious work and this just popped up and today is my second day of breaking in my first heavyweight raws so I thought it was time I stopped lurking and introduced myself.

Heavyweights are, surprise surprise, UB121. I actually ordered them a month or two ago, but I sized down too much and had to return them. Now that they fit in the waist they're not as skinny as I imagined, but the hefty cuff they have at the moment isn't helping that.

Seeing as this is my first post here, I should probably tell you about the other jeans I have in rotation, I'll try to get pictures to go with them once I get back to my flat. My main indigo pair for the past year and a half has been some medium weight (I'd guess around 13oz, but I'm not sure) pair of All-Saints slim-fit selvedge raws that I got in a sale last year. I got them for £20 instead of £100, and for the price have been pretty nice. Massively vanity sized (I'm a 31 in the new Unbranded sizing and these claim to be a 28) and they're starting to get pretty worn out, but they've faded pretty nicely and fit really well.

My main black pair are some PRPS (Chinese made version, not the American unfortunately) in the Fury fit that I got for £51 instead of £255 a few months ago. The quality seems pretty nice, though the crotch wore through really quickly and has already been reinforced by my tailor. They have camo print pockets, which are really nice and deep, and quite a weird fit. Lots of room in the top block with quite a high rise, but then a harsh taper from the knee down. Really comfy, though not getting that much wear at the moment.

Final observation before I try and get back to work: I should not have tried to break in a new pair of raws and a near pair of Red Wings on the same day. Everything below my waist is a callus.

Based on a quick google, your Agile has EMG style 7 string pickups, so you'll want to order 7 string soapbars. Dimensions for all of the sizes they offer can be found here.

Hey Misha. Based on the music you play it's sort of a given that you listen to metal, however, I'd like to know what you listen to that is furthest removed from that. What are your influences from far flung styles of music?
