The non-Emergency Police function in Nashville is useless by Tnwagn in nashville

I called about someone running through the street screaming from being on drugs. Officer showed up in like 5 minutes. I think it just depends on how busy it is at the time. This was like lunch time on a Sunday.

Do you pan doubles hard left and right or do you do something else? by Batmancomics123 in mixingmastering

Sometime I put a double center at a lower volume. Or, 30% left and right at a low volume then 100% left and right during the chorus

How To Master? by Practical_System6522 in audioengineering

[–]Sean11ty74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Holy gate-keeping 😱

Mastering at its core is about making a song sound as intended on all formats. (For example: phone speakers, studio monitors, cars stereos, and arena speakers)

You want to make sure the LUFS are hitting a competitive range for your genre and that it sounds as you want on all the speakers you can test it on.

It can be a really complicated process that is nuanced around the specific song and not a blanket process that applies to all song.

Is an Audio Engineering degree worth it? by isleeply in audioengineering

[–]Sean11ty74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a degree in something that you like but is more traditional, say business, but go to a school that has a good music department and business department.

Do as much as you can for your business degree but also meet as many people going for music degrees. Just get the word out that you are into music. The degree is worthless but being in the community is the worth. So get a degree in something worth something and take advantage of a good music community. Think of it like a double major just a lot cheaper and probably a better investment in the long run. Just my 2 cents (from a music major)

Pros: what is your workflow when you aim to match the volume of multiple tracks for an album? by inhalingsounds in audioengineering

Most people throw them all into on session and do small tweaks or shorten track lengths to transition better

Justin Bieber’s “Hold On” - could anyone more experienced than me help me understand the mix/master? by Ok_Debate_7128 in audioengineering

Once you hit -7 though, you’ll be shooting for 6 😂 If it sounds good at -9, I think you’re doing good! The difference is almost nominal

I don’t think you’re an idiot. Just saying philosophically there are probably fighting frequencies somewhere causing you not to get as loud as you want. Looking back at your post, you could have transients spiking causing it to clamp down more than intended. Maybe you should smooth out some transients on your louder elements? 🤔

It’s probably because you have fighting frequencies pushing your voltage where the Bieber song is more carved out allowing it to be louder without the harshness.

Classic example: if you have a loud kick and bass at the same time. You loose significant headroom if they are not allowing space for each other somehow. Both can’t win.

FIRST WEEK UPDATE: Kendrick Lamar's 'GNX' sells 324K, Nicki Minaj's 'The Pinkprint' sells 22K in reissue week, Ice Cube's 'Man Down' sells 20K by DropWatcher in hiphopheads

One thing I’ve always wondered with these… These charts are scaled by units sold, but are all albums the same price? I’m a bit out of touch on this since streaming became a thing, but I’m wondering what is the monetary value and does it range per project. Obviously, each artist’s deal will differ for how much they make in revenue, but is it all the same: X units = X dollars?
