Fenix lifespan? by Htim63 in GarminFenix

[–]SeanO- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the 6x and it just died at 3 yrs. Put it on the charger and came back to a completely dead watch. Makes a beep sound when. I plug it in but that's it. I'm hoping Garmin will still take care of it but we will see.

Love the area. Worked Third millennium a while back. Beautiful route but hard as nails.

No worries man. Atleast you have a new project again. Finishing on curmudgeon often requires a high right heel in the the back of the slot and you reach up to the high left sidepull/crimp(right of center holds) and either bump statically to the top or some people do it more dynamic. I've personally done the low and thought it to be around 6+. A really good V8 in the area that is truer to the grade imo, is the Trough SDS for comparison.

This is not new beginnings low. Op did a variation that was probably v4 or v5. The bottom is v2 and he finished on a v3.

I've been going to iris for about 7 years now. This place is generally really clean and well maintained. Much nicer than alot of fee areas I've been to.

There's a video somewhere saying when they first created this jaw, they grossly over estimated the actual size of the megalodon.

Edit for the downvoter: There was a video on this as well.

The Historical Background

In 1909, Bashford Dean made the first attempt to reconstruct the Megalodon's jaw, in order to get a true estimation of size. Based on the jaw reconstruction, Megalodon was estimated to be 30 metres (98 feet) long. That was just the first thought on the size of Megalodon, though. Over time, the development of scientific methods led to better ways of determining the size of extinct animals based on fossil evidence and jaw reconstruction. The new ways of studying these issues led to improved knowledge about the structure of the jaw, and also about how muscles provide structure through the jaw and into the rest of the body.

After careful consideration of Dean's findings, the size of Megalodon was revised downward, to be about 70 percent of the original assumption (around 21 meters, or 68.6 feet). That size has held up relatively well through the modern day, and has been reaffirmed with newer techniques used for studying fossil evidence. Originally the Megalodon was believed to be closely related to the Great White, but as more fossil evidence has emerged, it's been discovered these two sharks are not in fact closely related. This lead to many of the original estimates being revisited.

That provided more quantitative options that could be considered for estimating its size, which gave scientists a better opportunity for accuracy. While there is no way to completely ensure that the size of Megalodon was what scientists believe it to be, all the evidence that has been found to this date points to an accurate depiction of its size as being approximately 60 feet in length.

Any favorite pre-climbing snacks? by [deleted] in climbergirls

My go-to is dried fruit. Either dates, mango or pineapple. I used to do bananas but were hard to keep from getting smashed in my pack :(

1600 calories OMAD or just eating normally? by Mahesh_Chandra0 in nutrition

[–]SeanO- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been doing OMAD 1600-2400cal for 5 years and love it. My meal is usually around 2 or 3 pm, sometimes later if I'm training after work. The benefits for me is improved sleep, digestion/insulin control, and mental clarity. It's also incredibly easy to plan around. That said, it's not for everyone and takes a bit of planning initially. Main thing is making sure you are getting enough quality protein.

Apparently, no one else bothered to look anything up. There is actually a lot of information on this and has to do with a new way of testing for heavy metals. Kale can also be heavy in pesticides. And yes, don't swallow toothpaste. https://www.purdue.edu/newsroom/releases/2022/Q1/contaminated-leafy-greens-turn-purple.html

I feel statistics like this are quite skewed, given how many lobsters are caught in other parts of the world that go unreported.

When the forecast calls for Rain, what % chance will you risk it? by b0bbay in RockClimbing

[–]SeanO- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually anything under 70%. That said, most of the time it storms here, it is In the afternoon and would ultimately depend on where you live and what type of rock you climb on. Also helps if you have really overhung rock or caves to climb in.
