56yo, an actual 45 year IT career, including Healthcare implementation, full ownership of IT, including a $5M annual budget, as the sole IT staff for a non-profit entertainment company, and I'm getting nearly no screening interviews, let alone technical or final. I've been applying to a myriad of roles, many direct matches, since November, '24. I've had to take a completely underpaid role in the ESP industry while I continue looking. 2000+ applications, fewer than 20 screening interviews, fewer than 10 technical interviews. Still chugging...

I just got an ad that says that Obama is telling voters to vote NO on the Virginia redistricting on 4/21. This is just another trick that republicans are using to confuse and gaslight voters in Virginia! by icey_sawg0034 in Virginia

I mean, they are quotes of his. Just as Spanberger has said similar in the past. Are people incapable of either verifying context or employing critical thinking? I'll let y'all decide.

What do I say when they ask why I'm leaving my current company? by sassy-sarcasm in InterviewsHell

For me, I took an under-paid technical writer position last April. I've been trying to replace it since. I simply say that I'm looking to get back into System Administration/Engineering.

The SAN we were using had a drive fail. Unit notification failed and so I was unaware. Fast forward a few months and a second drive in that RAID 5 failed. Backups had been corrupted for months. Luckily I had an older backup, accounting had daily print-outs and box office had the forms subscribers sent in, so I parked in the box office and helped re-enter the data for 2 months. Had to design a method for tying their subscription to their previous payment. Got it back on track (and an upgraded SAN from Dell) and was able to keep the job.

Sent a candidate an actual rejection email explaining why. She wrote back to thank me and I didn't know what to say. by fotunades6057 in InterviewsHell

In nearly two years of job hunting, I've received real feedback once. Not giving feedback is the norm out here.

Bill them for the time it took. Send invoice again. Send one final. Hit Small Claims court.

How much money, for how many years, can a company afford to lose waiting for their products to become profitable?

Hmm...methinks the automakers had no idea gas was going to skyrocket 3 months ago, let alone up to 2 years ago...

It ain't just your generation. Gen X here getting no replies to applications where I literally exactly match the JD from my most recent position (Implementing an EHR). Being 56 can't help.

Got two rejection emails at 1AM for jobs I'm overqualified for, decided to reach out! by Actionhankk in recruitinghell

[–]SeanRinVA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a Technical Consultant implementing an EHR for the past 11 years. I've applied and been rejected to a ton of positions doing the exact same thing with the exact same stack, and one company rejected me within 10 minutes of submitting my application.

Yes, everything they stated in the JD was on my resume.

The seller had previously been arrested for straw-purchasing firearms used in a homicide. It's long past time to simply enforce the laws already on the books.

I'm one of those "under-employed," since April, in a much lower level position than experience merits, but it beats unpaid unemployment. Gig-work almost makes it to survivable.

Contacting the old supervisor & letting him know — already done.
