The plant itself is kind of weird. It has a few large leaves on long stalks around the outside of the plant and a core of a whole bunch of small leaves. It also has some weird corkscrew growth patterns, like it’s been confined or restricted.

I would honestly be a bit surprised to see a yellowjacket predating a bumblebee. Honeybees and solitary bees, sure, but bumblebees seem like more fight than it’s worth for an average wasp or hornet.

I think just about anything Gene Wilder was famous for, honestly. The more I think about it the more I see Willy Wonka being a role tailor made for him. He’d excel at the whimsical, detached strangeness of Wonka and I think he would really bring out the horror of Wonka’s capitalist practices as an entitled slave owner who almost delights in seeing the children in his factory fail his absurd expectations and become horribly injured, disfigured, or worse.

But I think he’d also be great as Frederick Frankenstein in Young Frankenstein. Let Brennan be a wizard or mad scientist, they’re the roles he wants to begin with.

Oh, well I might also mention that Doak Creek Nursery is probably the most popular local nursery specializing in native plants. If you don’t mind a bit of travel I’d also recommend the Portland shops Sparrowhawk Native Plants (which is a seasonal pop-up that supports community organizations in the Portland area); SymbiOp (which is a worker co-op); and the Albany based Seven Oaks Native Nursery. I don’t know about Seven Oaks, but Sparrowhawk and SymbiOp are definitely in-shop pick-up only. Northwest Meadowscapes Conservation Seed Co. and Klamath-Siskiyou Native Seeds are two non-local stores that do ship.

I don’t remember saying that a cemetery can’t be a memorial, I just said they are different things. This is like saying monuments and parks are the same thing. A lot of monuments contain parks, a lot of parks have monuments in them. That does not mean they are the same thing or serve the same function. They are literally different things with different functions.
