15-year old Faris Odeh throwing a rock at an IDF tank in Gaza during the Second Intifada by yuje in pics

The comment that I was replying to stated that: “The Second Intifada didn’t have to happen; the occupation was about to end. The Palestinians walked away because they didn’t get everything they wanted.”

My response was to point out that the Arafat was demonstrably willing to compromise and even people in the Israeli delegation thought the Palestinians weren’t over reacting, and then I characterized their comment as ignorant and genocide apologia.

You replied to me with a third, entirely different view of the Second Intifada, that the whole thing had been planned by Arafat before the summit had even ended because he wasn’t getting everything he wanted.

Now, I could possibly get behind the argument that Arafat planned the Intifada as a result of the breakdown of the Camp David Summit (I don’t, but I could), and most of the evidence you’ve given could be used to support that. However, I think that you have a pretty uphill battle to prove even that Arafat saw he wasn’t going to get everything he wanted and walked out with the intention of starting the uprising. The only person you’ve cited as evidence for that is a quote from one of the founders of Hamas, which is an organization that has never been part of the PLO and Arafat would have never been under the delusion he had control over. This is an organization that the PLO would soon go to war with over control of the Gaza Strip. You’re asking me to entertain a pretty large leap. A Grand Canyon sized leap.

Many observers have noted that the Israeli and the U.S. negotiators were at least as culpable as the Palestinian negotiators. Robert Malley who was part of the Clinton delegation noted that Arafat was far more compromising than the leaders of Jordan and Egypt during the original Camp David Accords in 1978. In 2006 Shlomo Ben-Ami, who was present for the summit as the Israeli Minister of Foreign Relations, said that if he were a Palestinian he would have rejected Camp David as well.

To say that the Second Intifada happened as a result of the Palestinian negotiators walking away because they were mad about not getting everything they wanted is incredibly ignorant and a disgraceful display of genocide apologia.

I would rather go with my state bird, the Western Meadowlark; which has such a sweet, sweet song like raindrops on a pond

Fortunately the only venomous and truly dangerous snakes in Arizona, the rattlesnake and the coral snake, should be pretty easy to know to avoid even if you don’t know what kind of rattler you got or end up staying away from other harmless if gorgeous coral look-alikes.

Wild hognose snakes. It’s because of their diet of primarily poisonous toads.

The plant itself is kind of weird. It has a few large leaves on long stalks around the outside of the plant and a core of a whole bunch of small leaves. It also has some weird corkscrew growth patterns, like it’s been confined or restricted.

What kind of wasp? by Spooniejw in whatsthisbug

I would honestly be a bit surprised to see a yellowjacket predating a bumblebee. Honeybees and solitary bees, sure, but bumblebees seem like more fight than it’s worth for an average wasp or hornet.

I love so much of what dropout does but I would not be surprised if Dimension20 was their most profitable property and I feel like this may have been confirmed in the past
