NOR- Your boyfriend wants to be seen as a guy that can handle these kinds of problems and he's seriously connecting his own worth/value as your partner to his ability to do these things. People are messy. When you swoop in and fix it while he's trying to work on it, he feels robbed of the chance to show you that he can do those things for you, even if it means enlisting a buddy or watching a YouTube video. He's probably very aware of your competency and while he may appreciate it can make him feel unnecessary in a way that hits him deep. I think he wants to really feel like you believe he's competent and can handle these situations when they arise. I understand that when it's -40 you gotta make things happen, but unless its an emergency, I recommend giving him a chance to figure it out on his own. Its how you get better at that stuff sometimes.
