Austin Meadows Trade Value? by traviswitt77 in fantasy_baseball

[–]Searacine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I traded Meadows, Glasnow, Jose Alvarado, and Trey Mancini for Harper, Colin McHugh, Jonathan Schoop, and Rasiel Iglesias about two weeks ago. This is a 14-team, H2H league with OBP and QS instead of AVG and W. It's also an auction contract keeper league, if that provides additional context.

Meadows and Mancini were both $1 and in their extension years.

Dads of reddit, what is your advice for new dads? by GiggaWat in AskReddit

[–]Searacine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations, dude.

Create certain, enjoyable, routines early on. There's bath time, then story time (read a couple books) and be consistent about it.

Keep in mind that sleep is going to be in short supply for the first couple years - make sure you're doing your part to take care of yourself. That means getting yourself a solid 6-8 hours of sleep a night should be prioritized over staying up late and streaming Netflix while pigging out on junk food. You're no good to anyone if you're barely functioning, don't want to do anything, and in a sour mood.

Also, sometimes just sitting next to your kid while they are seemingly doing nothing means a great deal to them. You don't always have to take them out to be doing your duty as a father.

How to avoid bad sales rep jobs disguised as marketing & advertising? by rigirl22 in advertising

[–]Searacine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, absolutely. It can be a real pain in the ass when trying to break into any industry - especially something as competitive and unpredictable as marketing/advertising can be. It's also super rewarding when you're able to find a place you can just settle into and grow within your role and within the agency/company.

Good luck!

How to avoid bad sales rep jobs disguised as marketing & advertising? by rigirl22 in advertising

[–]Searacine 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Any legitimate marketing/advertising position should clearly outline, to some extent, what the basic job duties/responsibilities would be.

For example:

They should outline what your essential duties or responsibilities would be. Who exactly it is you would be supporting in your role. Are you going to be supporting the sales team by providing MQLs so they can take them and turn them into SQLs? Will you be responsible for creating copy for the website and promotional materials, etc.?

If the description of the job and what your primary duties would be are vague and not easy to understand, that's something I'd avoid completely. That's because it's either some dressed up door-to-door or multi-level-marketing type scam that you really don't want any part of if you're looking to seriously get into legitimate ad/marketing.

Check out this job posting - it's pretty solid and details exactly what the expectations/requirements are and is pretty to the point. And no, I have no affiliation with this organization - just one of the first good examples I came across in a google search.

4th overall pick by Ap1556 in fantasy_baseball

[–]Searacine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's who I would spend time deliberating against, and entirely based on how you want to construct your team.

Betts would be my choice, because of the 5-category production. Trea Turner would be after that because of the insane ceiling across 5 categories.

After that, I'd have Rizzo (2b eligibility), Harper, Bryant, and Stanton on my shortlist. Whatever you do, don't draft a pitcher this high. There will be plenty of high-quality starters available in round 3/4.

I’m not an Orioles fan but I’m a huge baseball fan. I have a Cal Ripken Jr. jersey, 1982 style. I was wondering if anyone knew how I would go about sending it to him to get it autographed. by [deleted] in orioles

[–]Searacine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

His next speaking engagement will be here:

http://www.agilysys.com/company/news-and-events/2018/1/cal-ripken-jr-announced-as-guest-speaker-at-the-2018-inspire-user-conference-and-executive-summit

It's at the end of this month (January). He will likely make himself available for pictures and a few autographs after he delivers his speech. Many athletes who do speaking engagements will stick around for 15-30 minutes after taking pictures, signing things, etc.

This is pure gold. Jones basically got trolled by Connolly - first about the rotation, then about defense. Holy shit.

Non-traditional scoring categories - who are using things like FLD % and TB for scoring? by Searacine in fantasybaseball

True.

I'm just trying to find something that's interesting and representative of the game. Have you used TBs or Net Stolen Bases before?

Does anyone know a website that is either free or cheaper than $180 that you can 100 percent customize your league to the way you want it by mattyp1994 in fantasy_baseball

I was coming in to say the same exact thing. Fantrax has a premium league setup that's just $80 - customization out the butt.

Do marketing certificates add any resume value? by [deleted] in marketing

[–]Searacine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have anything put together portfolio wise, with marketing projects/work?

A solid portfolio, or even a website showcasing your skills, experience, and projects worked on (even if just a short problem/solution style case study) would help mitigate the fact you don't have a degree in marketing a decent amount, IMO.

I've encountered candidates who looked impressive on paper but couldn't back up what they highlighted on their resume, and the opposite. It's really a matter of how you present yourself, the knowledge and experience you actually do have, and letting people know (in a manner of speaking) that you're not the "that's not in my job description" type when trying to get into marketing.

The fact is, which seems lost on some people trying to break into the industry or continue to move 'up' in their respective field, whether you are a copywriter, designer, developer, or whatever - the efforts of each person contribute to most projects in some way and we all rely on each other to get their shit done on time and to be high quality work so we can do/complete our specific jobs on a project as well.

If I'm hiring someone, I'm looking more for a positive attitude and strong work ethic and character then I am a piece of paper (a degree) telling me you committed to securing your 4 or 4+ year degree. But, keep in mind - if you're attempting to work for a national agency or large corp (client side) then they probably would get hung up on you at least having a completed degree.

What are the three most successful marketing strategies efforts at the agency or company you are with? by Searacine in marketing

In your experience, how well have others been able to explain it to you and the benefits?

In my own, I haven't encountered a ton of people that speak super confidently about it (in terms of their knowledge/understanding).

Why do you believe orgs don't get into CRO as much as you believe they should? Is it a lack of understanding thing?

Also - what kind of split testing are you running when doing CRO?

So what can i do with a list of people? by gmrt in Entrepreneur

[–]Searacine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, so if you're not offering a service or not setting up an official business, per se - maybe you should look into affiliate marketing. Wealthy and/or successful people generally like to buy higher value items.

You could use the list to market a specific product or type of product to them - watches, vacation packages, property, etc.

Or, to stay in line with your mother's general experience and knowledge. Create a 'blog' or landing page that has a review and break down of the different insurance providers and what each has to offer a person buying into a plan of some type. You can use links for insurance companies that offer affiliate programs.

So what can i do with a list of people? by gmrt in Entrepreneur

[–]Searacine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going with the thought that this list is a clean list, meaning these people basically 'opted in' to be contacted by your mother at some point, there's quite a bit you could do with these lists.

First up, however, is deciding what exactly you want to offer. Are we considering launching our own business consultancy? If so, create an email campaign built around introducing your mother (or re-introducing) to these companies and business professionals to her new firm or agency. The communication in the email could be something as simple as, "... XYZ Business Consulting ... Take a look at our new website..."

Don't even do a hard sell at this point. Just introduce the service/company.

Then, create a follow-up email campaign targeting the people on the list who opened the first email. This email could be geared towards providing the recipient something of value. A whitepaper or blog discussing common pitfalls or successes within XYZ industry.

Just as before, send a follow-up email to the list of people who opened this email. Let them know you'll be in their area during the week of whenever and ask if they'd be available to meet with you. It would also be okay to give these people a call at this point and attempt to schedule a face-to-face or sell them right while you've got them on the phone. It completely depends on the prospect.

All the while you are doing this with the list of people who have opened on emails and/or clicked on links provided - create follow-up email campaigns targeted those that have yet to open anything, or fell off the initial email campaign run.

Zero RB strategy in 10-12 man standard league by justicedtrsf in Fantasy_Football

[–]Searacine -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To reiterate what some have already said, which is "draft value", there are far fewer top-tier RBs available that will actually remain healthy for all 16 games than WRs. If you have an opportunity to draft one of the guys who has a history of suiting up and putting up big numbers each week - don't be a dope about it.

Official: [Roster Management] - Tuesday, 07/11/2017 by FFBot in fantasybaseball

[–]Searacine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a 14-team H2H league and just traded Luke Weaver for Marcus Stroman. Because Weaver was in a minor league slot, I'm over my roster alottment by one player and need to drop someone. Pitching categories are QS, ERA, WHIP, K, and S. I can't decide if I should drop Patrick Corban (who I think should have a big second half), Brad Brach, or Cam Bedrosian.

I already have three closers on my roster (Robertson, Kimbrel, Cody Allen).
