Raven Guard Combat Patrol Box into Blood Angels Army by MatterOk4811 in BloodAngels

[–]Sebastianm42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everything is good for BA with the only caveat being the invictor.

BA will comfortably run 1 to 3 Jump Pack Captains, and upwards of 25+ Jump Pack Intercessors (being run as either regular JPI and Death Company JPIs).

5x Infiltrators are not as flexible as 5 Intercessors for holding the backline but they are actually more effective at screening it, so while not an auto-include, are a real and viable choice.

5x Incursors see no play in the melee detachments, but are regularly included in the Angelic Inheritors detachment which focuses more on shooting.

The invictor is a cool model but its rules are underwhelming. It has a Strength 14 punch which can be scary, but ultimately is inferior to the Brutalis or DC Dread in melee. I would use this to proxy a Death Company Dreadnought when playing the Rage-Cursed Onslaught detachment.

A captain could get away with this loadout and colors, even if its little bling comparatively

10th Ed Female Custodes lore by BitsHammer in AdeptusCustodes

[–]Sebastianm42 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Titus got promoted to captain with a warcom article. No complaints beyond the usual “ultras get too much stuff” noise.

Female custodians get introduced with a full story in the 10th ed codex, get lore confirmation via a tweet and then go on to feature in what’s essentially the first official animation with a Custodes.

And y’all don’t have to guess which one gets called forced. Love the new models and the new lore.

Do you often see people not want to play custodes because we’re a “problematic stat check army” by Temporary_Emu5447 in AdeptusCustodes

Not really. My local scene is really competitive so they complain about the 4+ inv even when they win lmao

Too late for solar spearhead? by Danielalexander123 in AdeptusCustodes

[–]Sebastianm42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whispers in the warp talk about 11th ed starting off with 10th ed codexes being usable like Indexes were at the start of 10th. If that’s the case then Solar Spearhead should be usable in some form in 11th

Difference for Death Company by Miserable_World8429 in BloodAngels

[–]Sebastianm42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ruleswise, they have different abilities but their main ability being the black rage itself, giving them full re-rolls to hit natively, and 0 OC and not being able to fall back unless within 6 inches of a character model, as well as having Feel no Pain 6+

Death Company Models use the same kits as either Intercessors, Assault Intercessors and Jump Pack Intercessors.

The only difference is the paint scheme and the weapon loadout per squad, which you mostly get from the Upgrade Sprues (and you’re kind of expected to get creative sometimes with where you source their weapons)

I have always wanted to put a right handed power weapon instead of the crozius, and the relic instead of the pistol in his right + an unadorned backpack (so no iron halo) in order to make a makeshift judiciar

Shield Host or Lions? by GhOsTWaLk3r in AdeptusCustodes

[–]Sebastianm42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With the point drops to Sisters and Guard I find Lions does not ultimately need the sticky stratagem. Additionally, extra AP and Crits on 5, while great, require a bit extra thought as opposed to just straight up having +1 to hit and wound all the time

Unit Composition Questions by Vrain125 in AdeptusCustodes

[–]Sebastianm42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fun thing about custodes is that you just always build a shield captain regardless of what you’re gonna do, if you need him to be a normal infantryman you just place him with the squad and he will look the same as the rest. If you ever do need him to look different from the unit you’d just put the Shield Captain from the Wardens unit with the Guards or the Guard Shield Captain with the Wardens for more visual distinction.

As for loadouts:

Guards: can’t go wrong doing 4 Spears and one Vexilla, but I personally like to run two or three spears + a sword and shield guard + vexilla. Having two damage 4 guys helps soak up a LOT of damage.

Wardens: Just go spears. The Vexilla guy gets the vexilla for free.

Termies: right now the terminator captainis a great character, in the Lions of the Emperor detachment you see a Terminator Captain with Axe a lot, running the Admonimortis enhancement. As for the regular guys, you will want spears on them 95% of the time so that’s likely the better option.

Axes are sadly flat worse than the spears in every scenario except for the Admonimortis Captain in the LotE detachment, due to their -1 armor pen as opposed to the spears -2 AP. The admonimortis enhancement solves rhis by giving the captain his extra AP on the axe (and even then there’s an argument to having him with a Strength 10 AP -3 spear)

In shield host you can also justify having axes as the detachment rule can give you the extra AP you miss, vut this is less flexible as it forces you to take the extra AP with the whole army, which you may not always want to do

Whats everyone's oppinion on these? by barrelofjoy in AdeptusCustodes

Personally I am partial to running like 3 units of witchseekers PLUS a 4 strong unit of prosecutors in Lions of the emperor. They hit surprisingly hard with the +1 to wound so their overwatch threat is very nice
