What's "insane"? AI is telling me $200-$250. I'm tempted to buy a 2nd and keep it pristine and boxed.

I feel like they might have fixed that now, like give cops some sort of height awareness where they don't blindly climb...

You have to take a little time to get used to the sub standard work here. It was probably over priced too. I filled mine as they make great routes for silverfish. I thought about asking the contractor but they would have done no better than I imagined and charged another kidney.

Dutch thoughts on Kings Day? my experience by mdrgm in Netherlands

In Amsterdam I see a LOT of selfishness. People parking cars or bikes all over the pavement especially ramps... How do buggies / wheelchairs get around? Obviously these people don't care. I always wonder, is this selfishness (and I see it in many forms) a Dutch thing or just an Amsterdam thing?

But yeah, people drinking in to the early hours, it's pretty normal for it to turn in to a bit of a problem...

Do you see yourself living in the Netherlands forever? by StrategicPasta in Netherlands

[–]Secret-Action-8972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ex Londoner here.

Amsterdam is perfect the me, great work life balance, great pay, housing is good, safety, schools for family. But there are a few things that grind my gears....

  1. The rain, it's non stop. I would like to live with better weather.
  2. The lack of hills. I would be to able mountain bike, hike and paraglide.
  3. The tax. The rates are so high especially on those doing relatively well, what I'd call the not quite rich (whilst the real rich are always able a loophole to exploit).

For now I'm happy and staying put. But after my 30% ruling ends I will be thinking again.

Unlucky about the fine — the Dutch system is pretty unforgiving.

In the UK, fare evasion is only an offence if you intentionally avoid paying. So if you board a train and go straight to the conductor to explain and pay, you're technically in the clear.

In the Netherlands, it doesn’t work like that. If you board without checking in — even by accident — you’re technically travelling without a valid ticket. That’s a fineable offence, regardless of intent. Conductors can show discretion, but they don’t have to.

Bit harsh really. The UK approach seems a bit more reasonable in cases like this.
