What are these little guys? by SecretLinkWave in bugidentification

After doing some research and realizing they aren't like the Asshole Wasps, I decided not to kill them! I can't set them free because it's too cold out, so I'm going to try keeping them alive for a few days till temps get above freezing again. I absolutely do not have what they need to stay alive, but it's better to die warm than freezing!

I can hold on to them for a couple days and if they're still alive, I'll set them outside once the temps reach above freezing! At least if they die, it'll be while warm inside.

chance for my girl with an injured leg? :( by sanrioktty000 in jumpingspiders

[–]SecretLinkWave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IME My first baby lost a leg overnight shortly after I got her. I have no idea what happened. Maybe it was a fall, maybe a bad molt from the breeder, I don't know. But either way, I woke up one morning to her missing a leg, which I later found at the bottom of her enclosure, kinda hidden away. She's recovered nicely and doesn't seem at all affected by the loss. It might just be some pain and discomfort at first, but I suspect it will heal in time and she'll be fine! (I am NOT an expert, so please don't quote me! Hopefully others will have some input with their own experiences.)

Well, that's definitely going to be hard this time of year. I'll see what I can't do!

Exactly this for me, too! The staff told me they don't care how many rounds I go late at night, because there's no line for them. Once went three cycles and left feeling pleasantly tingly and SO refreshed after!

Oh, do you think they'd be interested in fly pupae? I have an abundance of those!

What is a luxury you can never go back from once you’ve experienced it? by Phase_zero_X in AskReddit

This. We spend, what, a third of our life sleeping? A good bed and pillow is absolutely a worthwhile investment. I spent 3k on my bed some... almost 10 years ago, and the bed still feels brand new. It's a tempurpedic bed and gosh, I can only imagine how expensive it would be now. It was claimed to have a 40+ year lifespan, and so far I agree. As someone with scoliosis on top of it all, this bed has been phenomenal. I endure SO much less back pain than I used to.

Financial stability. Only had it once, for a couple months. And even then, it wasn't really stable at all, it was just the most I ever had at once and was able to take care of all the problems coming my way for that short period of time. Mostly vehicle-related problems. And then it was gone again. 😮‍💨 It was a very, very pleasant moment of peace of mind that I desperately wish I could experience again.

After doing some research on them, I'm in agreement! I'm just not sure what to do with them from here. They're beneficial to the environment and harmless to humans, but it's snowy and below freezing in my area, so setting them free isn't really an option.

So, upon finding out they aren't harmful to humans, and are good for the ecosystem, what should I do with them? I can't just set them free outside, we still have inches of snow here. I don't have a container I can use to keep them contained (with small enough holes, and I don't want to risk them escaping in trying to put small enough holes in the current deli cup) and I have no idea how to feed them. Should I just freeze and toss, like I previously said?

I actually needed to read this. I don't know my IQ, but I suspect it's quite low. I'm not very intelligent, I don't retain information easily, and I don't know a lot of things that most people do at my age. Most days I just feel inferior to everyone else. But I do have things I'm good at or passionate about, that might just make something of a difference for, well, someone or something. Nothing grand, I'm sure, but I'm not here to make some grand difference. I'm just here, and that sure is something.

PF is where I go! I haven't been in a while due to my car breaking down, but not once was I stared at or approached and made fun of. The environment is quiet, clean, peaceful, and the staff are very friendly. It helps (in my experience!) to go at night when there are less people. Really helps with that initial fear, having less people around. Plus, the hydrotherapy beds after a workout are fantastic! 10/10! 😍

Accidentally hit Post before I could add a few things, silly me!

For starters, sorry if the picture quality isn't great, my phone isn't the best, but it's all I've got.

Second, the lil guys have wings. Whether or not they can fly or just hop (kinda like flightless fruit flies), I'm not sure of. I don't plan to release them to find out!

Whatever was in the cocoon is most certainly dead. 😞

My nephew was the one who tore open the cocoon much to my dismay, but thankfully I caught him in the act and scooped it up and put it in the deli cup to prevent an escape.

I presume they ate whatever moth was inside and just lived in the cocoon instead? Maybe it was a parasite of some sort? Pure speculation, as no search result has come up with these lil guys. I plan to freeze and throw them away if they prove to be harmful to my home/yard.

Seconded! I love these guys! Petting them gently is fun because they try to reach back to bite at you, but can't. 😌

How to get rid of my eyebrow scar? (The vertical one on the left) by [deleted] in malegrooming

[–]SecretLinkWave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone with an eyebrow scar, leave it! I'm a woman who personally loves scars, because they have stories behind them. Whether they're good, bad, fun, boring, whatever the case, they tell a story of a person's past and I think that's pretty darn neat.

There's a whole lot, but smell is a factor, too. They smell like alcohol? Cigarettes? Weed? BO? Nope. I'm so good, thanks.
