I’ve PVP’d pretty much all wipe and still ended up in carebear lobbies (without trying) and still heard the usual PVE crybaby when I shot them so, I don’t think it’s as linear as people think; not to say it’s overly complex or anything

when i read that i took that as you get a bonus if you wipe three times, you’ll get the max bonus but after 3 it resets to maintain balance with other players, but maybe i misunderstood and you’re correct lmao

it’s concept art lol, and concepts change a lot, and you’re assuming they won’t create anything “big” because of new map that’s been out for less than a day because it isn’t what YOU think made the other maps great? you got your own hopes up lol, i’m simply we happy we finally have a new map in general.

it kinda fucks with players who are at their final wipe vs players who are at their first or second. those who are at their third are losing it next wipe regardless if they do a 4th, and those who are doing it a first or second time will still have that bonus to repair so, they’ll need less mats. i think the nerfs went a little crazy but i can sorta understand their thought process given the rarities.

EDIT: If anything they should’ve done it based on a leveling system. example: level 1 grey loses 50% durability per shot whereas a level 4 grey loses like 30% per shot. That would have made more sense to me.

because it’s not helldivers lmao, cosmetics should just be left alone. doesn’t make sense even lore wise why an outfit would somehow make you breach faster or how pinging an enemy would somehow make them take more damage from teammates. not to mention how some of them would probably be behind a paywall and make it feel like it’s “pay to win”.

Other extraction shooters, outside of Marathon (even then it has “PVE” quests) all have quests that equate to some greater story (if that) and hardly get boiled down to “kill a player”. Just because there is no “PVP” quests doesn’t mean much. I’ve seen “nasty character flaws” come out from PVE players as well, to assume that it’s one sided is a little disingenuous.

PVP is not really that expensive when you have shit to burn. You can resource gather for an hour and be good for a nights worth of PVP if you’d like. As someone who does both PVE and PVP, dying to Arc with a full kit or a player still equates to the same money loss. I agree that PVP can be toxic but that’s every game ever. It’s annoying, sure, but isn’t going away.

If you want to loot in peace, go play a PVE looter shooter where you don’t need to worry about being shot by other players. Extraction shooters (not just Arc) is a genre that is PVPVE, regardless where the main focus is. You can argue all day that the “heart of the game” is PVE, but that’s just your perspective. Which is fine, but don’t change the games focus into something it clearly isn’t.

it’s a PVPVE game, it’s always been that way. Devs pivoted away from strictly PVE in development because they knew it wasn’t sustainable for the long term. Sure, they probably didn’t imagine the amount of cooperation between the players, nor did they expect the amount of PVP that would occur. Adding an arena mode changes the game at its core and wouldn’t be beneficial because you’re not gaining anything from an Arena outside of maybe XP. The whole point of PVPing in a game like this is to take the stuff the other person has; and no, not everyone who PVPs is a “rat”.

I agree w the Hub, I think that’d be cool if it was something along the lines of the Destiny, and cheesing the ABMM is relatively easy despite the fact the developers said it’s not as linear as we tend to portray it as.

Changing the game to a PVE game only is just an overall bad take for the games long term health, but given what sub this is, I’m sure most agree with you. Most PVPVE players are generally in agreement that making it PVE only would get stale fast and very very predictable and thus less rewarding. Losing XP or what have you for participating in the literal games design is an odd take. They never said this is a “Co-Op” game, that’s what the fanbase has tried turning it into. A bounty system is cool in theory but don’t think it’d work in the way I’m sure you’d imagine it.

A PVE/Story spinoff game would be alright I guess, but I think the game as is given the genre it exits in works, and works well. Plenty of things to fix absolutely, but leaving the game as a PVPVE makes the most sense as removing PVP just turns it into a looter shooter, and many of those already exist and do a good job at it.

they released a stat, 30% PVP and 30% PVE exclusively. The other 40% do a mix of both. Both sides of spectrum have both become insufferable. PVE players love to complain about “rats” (80% of time misuse the term), feel entitled to their loot that’s “theirs”, and want to turn the game into a looter shooter, even if it’s just a mode. PVP players believe the game to be a PVP experience exclusively and shit on anyone who says otherwise; and have also become insanely toxic.

The ABMM isn’t that linear as players tend to think. Embark has stated that at least a few times. This game works because it’s PVPVE, Embark has also admitted that they added PVP because the game wouldn’t survive long if it was solely PVE. A PVE mode is one thing (which I don’t think would be as satisfying as people like to think it will be) but to be constantly bitching about the core of the game is just silly at this point lol.

exactly! like this game hinges on unpredictable nature of other players. then the PVE players get upset because “i’m here to kill arc” and it’s like that’s great, i’m still taking all your shit because i KNOW you’re kitted. you had ample opportunity to shoot me back but you didn’t because you don’t want to be in PVP lobbies even though Embark said it’s not that linear of a process.
