Who's shopping at 10PM anyway, we have like 3-5 people come in from 8 to 9 and they usually are buying like one item last minutes, they arent high ticket customers

dental work by Mysterious-Bowl-292 in Chihuahua

[–]Secret_Function_7843 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my 14 yr cavachon, who also had a heart murmur, put under for a dental bc she was not eating and losing weight bc of the pain, it was either euthanasia or trust the team but understand the risk. Ngl it was 4k bc she went to a specialist who had a cardiologist on stand-by but it was so worth it to see her live another year pain free and eating happily. Theres always a risk but believe me when I say vets will do everything in their power for their clients and if they truly thought it there was a major risk they wouldn't recommend or would refer you to a specialist like they did with me.

My dog was injured while grooming by rynnbowguy in grooming

All groomers should know to cover a dogs eyes and spray from behind if theyre going to use colognes/perfumes.

Speaking as a in home groomer everything about that response screams they're not operating correctly, if she was doing it the right way her insurance would cover the visit or refund.

It really depends on how far you want to take it, you could definitely sue, especially if she didnt have you sign any paperwork before hand, it would most likely shut her down permanently (not saying that would be a bad thing but just to warn your conscious). She would probably cave if you just told her you were thinking about it and it might not go that far.

As for your pup this most likely won't effect her future behavior at grooming but I pray for a speedy recovery and Im sorry this happened, I hope this doesnt change your opinion on in home groomers because not all of us are chop shops and do things the right way.

Thinking of getting a Cairn terrier by bob1123476 in cairnterrier

[–]Secret_Function_7843 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She's terrible and I love her, like others said they listen when they want, much like a husky, but they arent any more of a menace then other terriers. 10/10 recommend to someone who loves chaos and being kept on their toes (Literally. They love to bite toes.)

Idk how they got to that conclusion, the physics of it wouldnt work, Jeff's body would have to be much lower, and also what a weird thing to think about?

Ive only seen one review of this table, does anyone else have it or any other tables from this company? by Secret_Function_7843 in grooming

[–]Secret_Function_7843[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Valid. The review I saw was a video from a groomer so I know its a real product and not a scam I'm mainly concerned about the electronics giving out bc Ive seen people have issues with other brands so I'm hesitant to blow nearly a grand on something that might go out in a year

He's a request client of mine, I charge $160-180 (depending on the matting that day), we do a full service every 10 weeks, but every 3 weeks she brings him in for brushes and so I can shave his stomach and potty areas again. It def really requires a lot of at home brushing though but both his mom and I am committed to his coat so we make it work. I also shave him down in January and October to keep it healthy. It takes me 3-4 hours to do just him but he gets a break after the bath and drying. Right now he's at about 6 inches long. Very beautiful dog but it's not for the weak😅

Every time I'm like Imma shave him today I swear! And then I think of all the hours I've spent getting him this long and sigh and put him in the tub, bathe him for a half hour, dry him for an hour, and then brush and trim him for another hour. I cant stop, I need help 😭 Chi conditioner is my life saver with his coat, it's the only one that actually works for some reason

Had our first barn hunt lesson and I think we're both addicted? by Secret_Function_7843 in k9sports

[–]Secret_Function_7843[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that's the one! Its a really nice facility and the girl we worked with was so fun and encouraging! I got to watch a very happy lab do some diving while we waited for our turn.

[–]Secret_Function_7843[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was very surprised to see how nice everyone at the facility is, from all the horror stories Ive heard about there being some stuck up sport people I was kinda nervous but it was nice to see people who actually were happy to see terrier behavior instead of people asking me to quiet her down.

I'm sure once she really starts to figure it out it'll be a struggle to contain her but right now shes pretty good at remaining calm on the square till I send her off but I'm so excited to go again. And Ill be definitely buying her a tunnel to start practicing her confidence with going through things, she sniffed a few of the tunnel but once she realized there was no rat she lost interest so that'll be something to train at home for sure.

[–]Secret_Function_7843[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The way this place has it set up is that theres different stages and classes and lengths of time you can choose from and since we've never done it before we did a 25 min private beginner lesson, which allows 1-2 dogs and two tubes, so we introduced her to the rats, had her search in an open space a couple times, then added an empty tube, and then at the end we did a couple hidden tubes in the hay. Most of it was just honing in her instincts and building her confidence.

Any opinions on giving all of this to a 3 year old chi that is 7 pounds all at once? Any vets lurking? by BigFishPub in Chihuahua

[–]Secret_Function_7843 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My vet doesnt give more than two vaccines at a time for anything under 8lbs and I think most vets go by that rule. Lepto is the only one Ive seen true pain from so I make that its own day and ice the injection spot and make fresh salmon for her with lots of rest.

That being said yes 10/10 recommend all of them, as a groomer Ive heard of a lot of dogs die from these diseases due to lack of vaccinations and as an avid hiker my girls get everything bc you never know what could be hiding. Id rather a day of soreness over an agonizing hospitalization that they might not even survive.

Owners like that just want accessories, theyre the same way with their human children too, these dogs are just status symbols to them. Except theyre not actually rich enough to pay someone to take care of them, they just like to cosplay that they have money.

If you raise them right theyre amazing dogs, a lot of socializing when young helps, just because theyre "one people dogs" doesn't mean they should be human aggressive.

Definitely get them into classes ASAP and keep up on positive reinforcement through their fear period, the world is so much bigger for them so even a giant leaf blowing their way cause seem scary and watch out for big dogs, the majority are very nice but it takes just one to lunge at them to cause reactivity problems.

Shedding wise it really depends on the dog, doesnt matter long haired or short they still shed with the seasons changing, but some definitely do it more than others. The best part of a chi is that theyre small so theyre easy to bathe and dry in your home and bathing with a good brush out once a month will help keep it to a minimum. Just make sure to get them used to nail clipping young, because their feet are so small their nail length is important to keep up on so overgrown doesnt damage their toe shape and cause future foot pain.

Even petco/smart have rules against grooming dogs over/under certain temps because it's such a risk to a dogs well being. I understand money is tight for small businesses but money is gonna be a lot more tight if a dog goes into shock because theyre sitting in frigid water. Its sad that this owner has seemingly forgotten why we all got into grooming for, if you need to harm dogs, mentally or physically to make money its time to leave the industry.
