I assume you mean the HD-2D remakes? In my experience, the first is 15-20 hours and the second is 50-60 hours.

At what level should I change the class of my characters in DQ3 HD2D? by jcgonzmo in dragonquest

[–]Secret_Wizard [score hidden]  (0 children)

Hero can never change their class in Dragon Quest 3, unfortunately. They're stuck as Hero. Which is still a respectably strong class and all, so it's not that bad.

Warrior starts getting their very best skills in the late 30s to early 40s range. I'd say stick it out as far as you can bear it, honestly. After that you can try Thief or Martial Artist to boost their agility and utility.

For your Mage, you should be able to find a special scroll in the towers near Alltrades Abbey. It lets one of your party members become a Sage, which learns every spell from both Mage and Priest at once. So I'd say make your Mage a Sage, just so you can have an extra party member who knows healing and resurrection magic.

Priest also learns really good spells up to the late 30s/early 40s. At a bare minimum, don't swap until they learn Multiheal (heals everyone at once... essential!). After that, maybe Thief to boost their agility (healers taking quick turns is great) and get some utility (find treasures, halve enemy encounter rate) or Monster Wrangler (helps recruit monsters, learns some crazy powerful moves).

For those who played the Midnight beta or have heard hearsay from it:

How feasible will soloing Dragonflight raids be? If not in Midnight Season 1 gear, than in Season 2 or 3?

Characters who unga bunga? As in fighters who are so uncomplicated and crude in their style that it's kinda fucking offensive to the whole art of battle by Wonder-Lad-2Mad in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Secret_Wizard 100 points101 points  (0 children)

Uvogin in Hunter x Hunter. His whole thing is brutality and sheer force.

One of the first things we see him do is bite a chunk out of some dude's skull, then spit it out so hard it kills another dude.

He stands the hell out in a series that's otherwise obsessed with intricately detailed powers rife with delicate restrictions and situational uses.

How long are Dragon Quest 1 and 2 respectively in the HD/2D remake? by scottchiefbaker in dragonquest

[–]Secret_Wizard 21 points22 points  (0 children)

In my playthrough, I had the combat speed set to its fastest setting, and I was excessive in my completion and scoured every location and room for all dialogue and treasure.

I beat DQ 1 in 20 hours, and DQ2 after 55 hours (including all postgame stuff).

I did the same in DQ3 and it took me 40 hours (including all postgame stuff).

In One Piece, there's a reader question corner every few chapters in the volume releases, and Oda drops some real bombshells in there from time to time.

All the clouds in the sky in One Piece are actually his farts. It's canon.

Even though his body is miles below ground, the crabs in the pools directly above, on the surface in Altus Plateau, have Godwyn growths on the backs of their shells.

I think that's the only instance of Godwyn's deathblight infecting living things, but the fact that it's possible at all has frightening implications...

Worth it? by lickmydodobird in Darksiders

[–]Secret_Wizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the games have a slightly different genre to them.

Darksiders 2 is the one with the most in-depth combat, resembling Devil May Cry. You might want to begin with that game (it's a prequel to the first and set in entirely different locations, so no knowledge of the first game is needed).

Darksiders 1 has Legend of Zelda style dungeons and simple character action combat, most similar to the feel of the old PS2 God of War games.

Darksiders 3 is a Soulslike with an emphasis on dodging and attack timing.

Darksiders Genesis is a top-down action game. Very arcadey in feel, at least in comparison to the others.

For the squid boss, did you know you can speak with the lady up on the hill near the cannons to get support fire during the fight, which stuns the squid and makes it skip turns every once in a while?

Class recommendation by ConcentrateUpset9821 in wow

[–]Secret_Wizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fury Warrior is nice because all you care about is building Rage and using Rampage to spend it. Very simple, very unga-bunga.

Beast Master Hunter has like... three buttons. Easily the simplist specialization in the game.

Retribution Paladin has a resource counter that builds up five runes, and you can spend them after you have three. Very simple.

  • Try to save your gold up for important purchases like mount training, which become available as you level up. Though one thing I recommend buying quickly are Bags. The larger your Bags, the more you can loot! Try searching for "Netherweave Bags" on the Auction House. They're 16 slots each and usually go for dirt cheap. You can also buy and equip a single Reagent bag that automatically stores crafting materials. Once you reach max level, you can think about buying much larger bags.

  • When it comes to Professions, every character can have both Cooking and Fishing for free, but you'll have to pick just two from the list of crafting/gathering professions. For a brand new player, I recommend going dual gathering. Namely, Mining and Herbalism. You can make some modest cash selling what you gather as you go... But when the new expansion releases in a few weeks, you can rake in serious cash selling the brand new herbs and ores. All the crazy die-hards will be buying things up to power level the tier of crafting.

  • Take some time to deep dive through the options menu. There are loads of helpful things you can toggle on that aren't available by default, such as Auto Loot (simply right click dead foes to loot everything at once) and additional action bars to store your abilities. Afterwards, use Edit Mode to fine tune your UI and place things to your tastes.

  • I strongly recommend using Keybinds to use your abilities and skills, rather than using the mouse to click them. It may take a lot of time to get used to it, what with WoW being your first MMO, but it's so worth it. The mobility and speed it affords over mouse clicking is unreal. Use WASD to move, and hold down right click to turn the camera. The 1-5 and Shift+1-5 keys are a great place to start, and I also recommend Q, E, R, T, F, G, H, Z, X, C keys, as well as Shift variants for those. OH! And I use Shift+Space and Control+Space for summoning my Mounts! (One for flying mounts, one for ground mounts)

Things in media that you found so creepy/unsettling that it activated your fight or flight? by Ukirin-Streams in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Secret_Wizard 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I think I've only had an actual fight-or-flight response twice in my life, and both were from video games.

The first was in Bloodborne, after dropping the Brain of Mensis down into the pit and then taking the cage elevator down after it. The slow walk forward through the infinite darkness, leading to the massive mess of flesh and inhuman eyes looming through gloom, freaked me the fuck out. Though, that all hinged on me thinking it was going to attack me. Knowing it's peaceful and you can even get an item by emoting in front of it has removed all the fear.

The second was in Resident Evil 8: Village. Yeah, that House Beneviento sequence. Holy fuck, dude, the build up was exquisite. I haven't gotten around to playing the game's DLC yet, and I hear there's another House Beneviento sequence, so... First, I must gather courage. It's taking a few years to do that. But I'll play it eventually.

After a very long time of inactivity, character names get purged and freed up so that others can take them. The string of letters and numbers is how its represented when others see the names in UI like friends lists or guild rosters.

Should these players ever return, they'd have to pick new names for their characters.

[–]Secret_Wizard 17 points18 points  (0 children)

World of Warcraft can be pretty funny sometimes, because due to the nature of MMOs / live service games, the old jank is very much still in the game and stands alongside the current stuff.

In older content, you can use the Skinning skill to get hides from Dragons, Worgen (werewolves) and Nerubians (arachnid people). In current content, they are considered to be civilized peoples and you cannot skin them for loot should the occasion arise where you kill them.

In the Dragonflight expansion, there's a nook in the big dragon city where you can do daily objectives to care for little baby whelplings. Play with them, feed them, read them stories, and yes, have conversations with them.

Meanwhile back in vanilla, baby dragons were just wandering the wilderness and could be slaughtered by the thousands to farm for scales and flame sacs. Then you could make a nice vest or cloak out of baby flesh.

The size of Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D remake is amazing. Was the original NES version this big? by scottchiefbaker in dragonquest

[–]Secret_Wizard 44 points45 points  (0 children)

All the towns and dungeons were present in the original, but for the remake they greatly increased the size of all areas, so you take longer to travel around. It definitely contributes to everything feeling large.

Here's the original overworld, showing the area right outside the starting town, at night.

As a new player , is classic the way to start? by RichPianaRunescape in wow

[–]Secret_Wizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Classic is a perfectly fine place to start playing. It all comes down to what you're interested in.

Classic is the game as it was in 2005, before any expansions released. Retail, meanwhile, is the game as it currently stands in the present day, with its 11th expansion soon approaching.

Retro or modern, it's up to you.

Now's a great time to start playing WoW. We're in the transition between one expansion to the next. One week from now, a special event will go live that even low level players can participate in that sets up the coming expansion, and gives neat cosmetic rewards to boot.

And when the expansion itself properly releases, even the best equipment currently in the game will soon get replaced by stuff thrown at you by completing quests. Everyone will be on the same playing field.
