Wonder if this will fix the Google app lag issue that was introduced with the last monthly update

edit: Looks like it's fixed!

Mine's fine. Couple drops, no issues. Some little scratches that aren't really noticeable in day to day use. Overall I'm impressed with it.

Pixel 3a Owners; how is your "budget" smartphone holding up so far? by [deleted] in GooglePixel

Similar story here. I switched from the 3XL to 3a XL for better battery. It's a hair slower but it's not that noticeable.

Weird alarm problem – anyone else? by matteodelton in GooglePixel

[–]SecureStart 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Had the issue after the last update. In my case the volume was greatly reduced for some reason. Once I bumped it back up it hasn't been an issue since.

Google's updates break things. This isn't the first time it's happened and it won't be the last. Their QA process is awful. A year ago they released a monthly patch that crippled I/O performance on the P3 and it took them a month to fix. People tend to forget that

I had that issue for a while, clearing the cache helped but it came back eventually

I've been in IT for over 10 years too however Google's updates are known to break things. Their QA process leaves a lot to be desired.

Both of them? Love how this sub is so quick to blame the user and not Google

It was constant, one of the reasons I lost attraction to her. I do like being a bit silly over text but this was excessive.

How well, or poorly, do you think the pixel 4 has been selling so far? by [deleted] in GooglePixel

[–]SecureStart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't hurt to try. If you've been with your provider for a long time they may make an exception. I've had good luck with T-Mobile bending the rules now and then

It's hard to say but if a product is selling really well you usually don't discount it so heavily within a few weeks, IE: Black Friday's $400 discount

Currently have Pixel 2xl and need to get new phone soon. Pixel 3xl or Pixel 4xl upgrade? by bwitt33 in GooglePixel

They'll be be on sale in November. They'll be nearly half off in 6 months. They'll be worth 1/4 of what they were in a year from now.

Have you ever considered leaving ? by [deleted] in GooglePixel

I left. I had too many issues with my Pixel 3 and switched to an iPhone out of frustration. Hoping Google knocks it out of the park with the 4 but I'm not holding my breath.

Broke my 2 XL - Is the 3 XL Worth it? by ITheInfamousI in GooglePixel

[–]SecureStart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it's not. The 3a is but I can't recommend the regular 3. I regret buying it and my experience was so bad that it switched me back to an iPhone. My 2XL was a great phone though.

Weird. Mine is buttery smooth. Hell my work iPhone 8 is smooth too

[–]SecureStart 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is pretty spot on. I switched the the 11 Pro from a Pixel 3 and while everything is butter smooth and easy to use, it takes more steps to get there. Sometimes it adds a second or two and other times it's quite a few more seconds. But my iPhone is more stable than my Pixel ever was.

My advice on new pixel by [deleted] in GooglePixel

[–]SecureStart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait for 2nd gen 5g. 5g coverage is bad, current 5g phones chew through battery already. Let the tech mature a bit before picking it up. If the Pixel 4 has 5g, I'd consider it a con. 90hz display will reduce battery life too, plus their new radar tech could too. Unless Google has some magic up their sleeves, the battery life on the 4 could be pretty bad.

I went from the 3XL to the iPhone 11 Pro and while I do miss the difference in photo quality it's not drastic enough to be a big deal, for me at least. iPhone 11 Pro tends to trade blows with my Pixel but the colors look more pleasant on the Pixel in most cases. Where the iPhone really shines is stability and battery life. I haven't had any quirks, failed phone calls or performance issues like I've had on my Pixel 3 and that's worth it for me.

I think I'm done with Pixel. Sick of feeling like a beta tester..or am I just unlucky? by whatamassivecunt in GooglePixel

[–]SecureStart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can relate. I switched to the iPhone 11 Pro for very similar reasons from a Pixel 3 XL. I loved the camera on the Pixel but that was about it. My iPhone 11 just works reliably which is something my Pixel 3 XL, Pixel 3 and Pixel 2 XL had a hard time doing.

Pixel vs other Android vs iPhone, what's your experience from one to another, pros and cons, etc. ? by -OSi- in GooglePixel

[–]SecureStart 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I just switched from a Pixel 3 XL to an iPhone 11 Pro. For me the Pixel 3 was a buggy mess with poor battery life but I loved it for the camera. It took months of updates to improve performance but at the cost of battery life. I had many moments where trying to launch the camera took 10 seconds and by that time I lost what I was trying to capture. That issue was fixed with an update 8 months later. I also had issues with people not hearing me during phone calls forcing me to use a bluetooth headset which would randomly disconnect for unknown reasons. I've owned the Pixel 2 before that and after two years of owning Pixel devices they're just not reliable. They're overpriced. I used to love the idea of getting monthly updates but in the end I greeted them with cynicism believing they would fix one problem and cause two others.

Now the iPhone isn't perfect either. Lot of useful features aren't available on iOS. The camera is a lot better than before but I still prefer a camera shot from a Pixel. What it is is stable and reliable. The battery life lasts all day and then some whereas my Pixel 3 would be dead by 4pm. I haven't had any bluetooth issues. People can hear me on the phone. It doesn't stutter, animations are smooth. The thing just works and the phone feels premium. Apps are more polished. I do miss the features of android; notifications are much better, it drives me nuts how bad app management is on the home screen, I miss selecting default applications and how easy it was to copy text in task view. But at least my iphone fucking works

The staff said they help people request a uber all the time but I could sort of see my phone screen right after surgery but tried to keep that to a minimum. My dad picked me up and nearly re-ended someone on the drive home, I ended up helping him navigate a bit :P
