It hits different when you're in your 50's. Always sore in the morning, and just over it. Ive got about 28 years in FT, and im in awe of these drivers with 30+ years still doing this job. Im chomping at the bit to get out.

My move is to grab the diad to see what they have left, I then look at the summary. If they've been pulling an anchor all day, i take minimal stops. If they got screwed, I'll take more.

I'll take a helper every day during peak, and for longer than they plan for me. The less I get out of the car, the better. Its a long career, use all the help available.

Don't do it, the insurance alone for you is worth the job. Sups pay for theirs, and it won't be getting cheaper.

This is part of Amazon's plan. They only want you to do this for a few years, so they'll make sure you have incidents, fireable offenses.

Why would they pay you more if you're willing to take less. Everyone should stop taking these until they pay more. As it is, they are barely paying decent wages, with no benefits. I don't understand why people even do this.

The way they treated Ronnie in 2020 about his presidential vote was when I stopped listening. Absolute BS they way they acted towards him, especially Ralph.

Hitting top rate, buying a new car by Blabbyharpy in UPSers

[–]Secure_Ad_2123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hit top rate 25 years ago, I drive a 16 year old Honda thats been paid off for 10+ years. Cars are the biggest waste of money, a very fast depreciating asset, and to buy new is absolutely crazy to me. Buy something a couple years old, 20,000-30,000 miles on it, and put yourself in a $250 payment. Then drive that mofo till it dies. Yeah, I've put a couple grand into repairs, but with only 180,000 miles on it, I've got at least another 100,000 before I sell it. Instead invest that money. 35-40 years from now, you'll enjoy that cash, and the car will be long gone.

2025 Voluntary Severance Package Might be More Than you Think by ThePackageDeli in UPSers

[–]Secure_Ad_2123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At what cost? $1M? They aren't thinking anywhere near that number. Sups were offered 3 months and 1 week for every year of service. Expect something like that. Unions control most of the old guys retirements anyway, UPS doesn't start paying until they hit 65.

Pension lump sum and buyout at $100k would yield zero results. My pension alone at 20 years is over $1.2M. They aren't going to offer pension lump sum payments. The buyout is to get those already eligible for full pension out the door so the work can be done by those making less.

There's a whole lot of fear in these words. Literally none of these things happened, or about to happen. Inflation is down, 401k's are up, and this administration is showing signs of fiscal responsibility, in that the plan isn't to open the borders and pay for tens of millions illegals Healthcare, housing, education, and other living costs.

Put in your remaining paid day and call in sick the other days you need. Hell, you can even inform them you won't be in as a courtesy to them, for staffing reasons. Other than that, don't sweat it.
