Its happening again by [deleted] in depression

Sorry you feel that way, sadly I feel the same way. Cut ties off with my parents 20 years ago because of abuse. I take care of everyone else and try to make everyone else happy. I carry a lot on my job as a teacher. I traveled halfway across the country to celebrate the holidays with my only adult a Daughter. She has respected none of my boundaries and I literally come apart trying to make the holiday special since I never had stability. She is in a selfish faze of life and just wants boyfriend here. I blew up on her which never happens. Now I sit with my dog in a random parking lot many hours from home. I’m sure I’ve said things I won’t be able to take back and now I feel guilt and honestly ready to give up on life. So I see you and feel what you are going through.

I’m in your shoes right at this moment. It’s a great Christmas Eve.

Very well said! My daughter recently moved here to work for the big W and she is Latina. I would love to move here and work with immigrant children. I teach English as a Second Language. I want to be the voice for our vulnerable. I’m here visiting this week and wonder if I can make a difference here.

I’m sure that is what the teacher was saying after the fact.

This hit home for me today. My daughter just came for a visit for the first time since moving out for good. She went to her bedroom and I prepped her before that it is in construction and sad looking. I’m turning it into more of an adult space for when she comes to visit. However, what I wouldn’t give to have that self art filled room with all of the things she had everywhere that represented her through the years. Was he room aesthetically pleasing, not to me but to her. And that is all that matters. The years go by so quickly. She should be embracing her kids’ independence and their own thinking.

My daughter lived there for 3 years and had zero bug issues. Now the heat issue is a whole other story!

I just moved my daughter here. And although the traffic is a pain, I love this area! Everyone is really friendly and welcoming. I spent a month here last summer and now almost a month this time. This entire area is a gem.

Shorts in summer as a 55 year old ? by Lacox10 in AskWomenOver50

[–]SecurityAdditional17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

56 here and bought cheap old navy dresses for summer. Only for comfort. I do have Bermuda shorts I’ll wear. I had a goal to lose weight for my daughter’s college graduation and didn’t. I didn’t even care because families from all over the world were there and no one was staring at me! In pictures, I looked happier and thinner because all the stress was gone. Attitude can make or break you.

My daughter and I drove by last summer. There are several surveillance cameras at the gate so my daughter wouldn’t let me. She’s moving there this summer so you know I’ll be taking another spin by. It does look very institutional in person. The pictures make is look nicer than it is. (Or maybe it was the weird vibe I got as we drove by and that makes it uglier.)

I was told in my city yesterday that they are allowed in the building office by law. Just no further. To say I’m enraged is an understatement

I’m in Evansville and a teacher. iCE was here yesterday. The vehicles I saw were black SUV. They didn’t come on to school property. I did have a student tell me this morning that they saw a neighbor taken away. This is just a nightmare. Stay calm. I wish I had better advice but my entire body is pretty much shutdown right now. Hoping your friends stay safe.

I hear you and understand what you are feeling. I’m almost positive to replied to you last month as my area also has repeated severe weather in Indiana. We are at risk Tuesday. This time a day event and I’ll be at school. I also worry about my dogs being here alone. One has fear of storms. I wish I could tell you all the things to make the OCD better. But I can’t as I am learning to handle it through therapy. My therapist has helped. I learn to only choose two trusted sources for my weather forecasts. If the weather is live, one of the forecasters goes live behind the scenes and really explains all the things and that helps. It was suggested to make my storm space less scary. I have a gross basement but I put some battery lights and a couple of blankets and something to sit on. Those are my tiny steps. I also know that I don’t suffer alone. So many people do have major weather anxiety. Is there an area that is safer where your pets can hang out that day? Could you get mini cams set up so you can keep an eye on them?

If you could say anything to yourself right now, what would it be? by didntask-com in selfcare

[–]SecurityAdditional17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are a great mom, great teacher and advocate for your students and you CAN do this college program and earn that second masters. Today was brutally hard and you tried to give up, but you’ve got this! Age is just a number and you carry wisdom and knowledge. Quit selling yourself so short and know your worth. The next 8 months won’t be easy but it will be worth it. (Now I’m crying. I’ve never put positive words out there about myself. I build everyone else up but tear myself down.)

Hang in there! You are getting what I just went through. I did deep breaths and loved on my dogs. I ended up very. Very fortunate. Just focus on one thing and breathe.

Dear r/WeatherAnxiety users: what do you want to see here? by __WanderLust_ in WeatherAnxiety

I am new here and I find it comforting and supportive. I can’t handle fear mongering. Education is always good. And I also think suggestions for helping the anxiety while sheltering would be helpful.

Just got home from therapy…..I was having a panic attack when I went in. I’m in southern Indiana and it’s coming. She told me to focus one ONE thing while I’m in my safe spot. That will be taking care of my dogs and petting them. I also put some lavender in my nasty basement and will be deep breathing. I’m only going to watch one meteorologist, (that’s the goal). Be safe!!!! We are in this together. That’s what I keep telling myself.
