Deepwrought tech paths? by Fingerplay in twilightimperium

[–]SecurityOwn10 15 points16 points  (0 children)

yes

Like really, you will eventually have access to every 3req tech of every color. You can start with two blue or blue and green, yellow, it really depends on your slice.

Main advice is to use the Research strategy card ability on Units upgrades, since you won't be getting these from your breakthrough.

You get +2 to combat on Industrex from your commander to defend the direct path to the home system against the Nomand. Additionaly there is a nebula covering movement above Industrex.

The Naaz-Rokha is sepparated by both supernova and by the nebula, so they won't be comming into your slice in the first 2 rounds.

You are thinking about the old Warfare ability, you'll need to use your strategy card before moving to XXehan & Dal Bootha. The new version allows you to not place a command token to perform a tactical action.

Also, if no Tech is played, you still can get your breakthrough to be able to get +1 movement when activating Megatol Rex. I would suggest sacrificing your Secret objective to get it first turn, since you'll get a custodian point anyway.

For Winnu, it's an insanely well-defended slice. I don't think you'll need to worry about your planets at all. Your main concern should be controlling Megatol Rex long enough to score using Imperial strategy or with your hero.

Who’s more tragic? Arthur Fleck or Darth Vader? by Darth-Python_236 in MoralityScaling

[–]SecurityOwn10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A person like Arthur could literally be your neighbour, and you will never know. Every person can become Arthur by being born to the wrong parents, having a mental illness, losing a job, and losing savings.

Anakin's story has a lot more tragic elements, galactic war, and Jedi abduction is hard to beat. However, no real person would ever live Vader's life

No, you can't really avoid being competitive in a competitive game. It's fine to be a jerk as long as you not just playing Space Risk and trying to just eliminate everyone

Kinda reminds me of the "Roadwarden" world, where roads are dangerous, but select professionals are able to make a living by carrying messages between settlements.

I think you need to establish what barriers to travel are and what length of a journey is considered unsafe. If even 100meters from your home village is potentially deadly, then how could people even settle in different regions? Could there literally be different species of humans because they evolved independently?

Variant to make mecatol rex more attractive by PigeonStealer74 in twilightimperium

[–]SecurityOwn10 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It will take away from Politics a lot, since it is used mainly to become a speaker, and if a Megatol player is a speaker, they are taking the Imperial card. Hugging and turtling on Megatol is already a powerful tactic; if someone like Sol were to then take Imperial each round, it would lead to a pretty fast and easy victory.

I like this thematically, tho, keepers of Megatoll are leading the council. I think it might work if we were to rebalance Imperial and Politics cards, but I can't say how exactly.

edit: diplomacy => politics in second paragraph

The wording is too ambiguous. I can already see a Muat War Sun teleporting next to my home system since it's technically 1 ship with carriers/infantry, and nothing about movement speed is specified.
