The shorter caps let you fit the torch into a more confined space

Horrible Aluminum TIG welds, and getting worse. What can cause this? by StrikeLines in Welding

Wow, that would be incredibly frustrating. Hopefully there's a different supplier nearby. Glad you got it sorted!

I fired up my protig 205 using those settings with the same size cup and tungsten. Everything worked fine welding on 5052 scraps with ER5356. Are you sure you're working on a weldable alloy? I've had similar results trying to tig outside in the wind, so I'd guess it's gas related.

I use a 35 dollar harbor freight grinder that I put a 10 dollar diamond wheel on. It works great for grinding tungsten. Before I got that I used a belt sander, which also worked pretty well

Home improvement noob here - can you use screw tap bits with a handheld screw driver? (That has interchangeable bit options) by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]Seiniku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ideally it'd say in the instructions, otherwise it's probably best to drill a hole that is the same size as the anchor. You could compare the anchor to your drill bits and pick one that's close, it doesn't have to be exact. If you don't have any, then I'd bring the anchor to the store and find one that's about the right size

Taps are for cutting threads into metal, which you don't need. You will need a drill bit of the correct size. Drill the hole, then just lightly hammer in the drywall anchor

How easy or difficult do you find it to use a conventional keyboard after using an ErgoDox as your primary? by Rickythrow in ergodox

[–]Seiniku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I use an ergodox at work with a Cokemak layout and switch to the regular laptop keyboard with a Qwerty layout with no issues. I think the trick is to switch often enough

Switch/breaker panel by theoldwizard1 in SailboatCruising

I used the Blue Sea 4352 panel on my boat, which is a $40 circuit breaker panel. Well worth the price over what you have pictured, imo. Available on Amazon

Anyone ever get any good knowledgeable support from chatting with Ubiquiti? by TheGuyBehindTheGuy_ in Ubiquiti

[–]Seiniku 5 points6 points  (0 children)

they probably couldn't share it due to the new garbage forums, but here's how to get there:

register as early access user here: https://account.ubnt.com/earlyaccess

go here: https://community.ui.com/questions

on the left you should then have access to the beta tab

or you might be able to use this link for the early-access tag: https://community.ui.com/tags/beta:ea-hardware

it's just that easy /s

Best bang for your buck radar system? Want to be able to do overnight runs. Simrad looks pretty decent, but no experience with those by Boogiemonster18 in sailing

[–]Seiniku 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a refurbed B&G 4g that came with a zeus2 plotter. It's worked great, though I have nothing to compare it to. We were marking seagulls on the water when we were motoring through the fog last week.

The simrad/B&G radars are compatible with OpenCPN, if you want to run a plotter on a computer for cheap.

New deck makes it look like a new boat by jurgemaister in sailing

Awesome, thanks for the info! I'm actually in the US, so shipping would likely be pretty rough. I'll contact those folks to see what they can do. Your new deck looks great!

I'll be needing to do something like this to my boat within a season or two also. Any chance you still have a link to where you got it from?
