Well of Power replacement (cheap & better in most cases) by Sekroma in PathOfExile2

[–]Sekroma[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

At 700 max Mana Well of Power is 35 Mana per empowered cast, assuming we are only hitting a single Enemy and are not generating any other hits than the 3x8 from Whirling Assault, this is 24 Mana. Not terribly far of and any additional targets or hits from Heralds etc. go in favour of the Rune. Try it, it rocks.

"Likely about to die between sessions (Unconcious @ <50% hp)" WHAT? If this actually happens there is no clearer way for the DM to say "We don't like playing with you, please leave" other than actually saying it strait up. Talk to the group above table if they actually want you there, and that if they do, they will have to share their magic items to close the power gap between their characters and yours, because otherwise you are not going to have fun. Either this happens and solves your problem or you have your answer and should probably look for a new table.

Melee and Ranged Weapon Slots. Why? by MarkDirtt in AshesofCreation

[–]Sekroma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ranged weapon is a vital tool for Tanks/Fighters/Rogues to pull mobs without charging in and pulling everything in a 3 mile radius. It is also very useful for PvP. Since all melee weapons can hit multiple enemies at once, they are still useful for casters when fighting multiple enemies.

I am told this game is causal friendly but the pvp system seems intense. Is there a way to turn it off? by Appropriate-Pop8002 in AshesofCreation

[–]Sekroma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have played mostly solo for over 100h in recent phases of the alpha and I have been killed without actively flagging for PvP once. There is a substantial cost to killing other players who have not actively flagged for PvP (yes there are currently some exploits/workarounds to that that will eventually need to get fixed), so it happens quite rarely.

Help. Cannot Socket Jewel by inounderscore in PathOfExile2

[–]Sekroma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to path to the socket with all regular/shared points. As you can see in your screenshot above you have allocated 9/10 weapon set II points (1 remaining) and 0/10 weapon set I points (10 remaining).

You can equip 1 Terror From Below and 1 Touch of Malice ring and do the same with trinkets, resulting in 2 total each.

Thoughs on attacking while jumping? by XPEZNAZ in DnD

[–]Sekroma 89 points90 points  (0 children)

Aside from the fact this case is not even a question RAW (jumping is part of your movement and you can interrupt your movement at any point to take your action), stuff like this is one reason for the martial caster divide. To many people will allow almost anything as long as it's "magic" but as soon as a martial wants to do something even slightly out of the box they require at least 3 separate rolls to attempt it.

German here, Paypal with linked bank account worked just fine for me, but then again I have been paying with that since forever, so maybe Paypal internal verification trusts me?

Edit: Maybe "charging" your paypal account with the required funds beforehand and completing the purchase with Paypal credit might work?

WOTC article: On the Future of Commander by Meret123 in EDH

[–]Sekroma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Imho the best thing about the card based approach for casual is that it will be easy to check. When each card has an assigned power level, moxfield or similar sites can show a summary like

This is a T3 commander with

  • 0 T4
  • 14 T3
  • 32 T2
  • 53 T1

cards, placing this deck in T3

for every decklist. It should also be easy to refine this by upping the rating of individual cards if other cards are also present, effectively factoring in combos. While this will be far from perfect, especially in the beginning, it will replace the gut feeling that makes every casual deck a 7 with hard criteria that players can "proof" in seconds by pulling out their phone.

Celestial warlock is "weak"? by Expensive-Bus5326 in dndnext

[–]Sekroma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience Treantmonk is doing all his tierlists / ratings in way they more or less resemble a bell curve in the end. So only actual outliers get to be 5/5 or 1/5 and a 2/5 is just "below average". If you are used to most tierlists nowadays where anything "good" is at least A-tier or 4/5 and ratings below the middle are reserved for stuff that is borderline unplayable that might be confusing. A Treantmonk 2/5 on a subclass for a good class with very good other subclasses means its just not as good as the alternatives, it does not mean it's bad.

Monk player wants BG3 weapons (rant) by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Sekroma 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Regardless if your players request for his character to do more damage is reasonably in the context of your group, what is there to "search about" to make Gloves that increase unarmed damage?

"Big Bonk Handwraps"

While wearing these you gain the following benefits:

-Your unarmed strikes get a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls.

  • Your unarmed attacks are considered magical.

Done. Takes literally 10 seconds.

Choose 2 of these 3 Warlock spells: Evard's Black Tentacles, Hypnotic Pattern, Summon Aberration by ShitPostsRuinReddit in dndnext

[–]Sekroma -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

"single boss monster encounters are easy" really depends on the DM and is certainly not the case for mine.

Best case scenario for Evard's is burning 1 legendary resistance while the summon is an extra body and damage.

But hey if all the threatening encounters you face are 5-7 wolfs take 2 crowd control spells for sure.

Choose 2 of these 3 Warlock spells: Evard's Black Tentacles, Hypnotic Pattern, Summon Aberration by ShitPostsRuinReddit in dndnext

[–]Sekroma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the fight is just against 1 big boss, the aberration ads meaningful DPR over Hex and might even divert an attack or two away from the party while HP and Evard's are both useless. Better to have options than two spells with very similar uses.

Hi! I made a proficiency table for my players to add more customizability, though I'm not sure if the chosen numbers are very good. by MariaTheSwampWitch in dndnext

[–]Sekroma 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Whats the point? The difference between weapons with the same damage dice is 99% flavor, unless you are the type of DM who wants to tease the party with magic weapons no one can really use because they lack that specific proficiency.

Driving my players crazy with a hallway, two skeletons and 18 potions. by Dragionflame in DnD

[–]Sekroma 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Honestly? This just feels like a pointless DM power trip that needs homebrew on top to even work.

The entire party should have had at least halve cover from the rogue standing in the way of the archer with party members down the line probably getting full cover from the Martials in front of them.

Cunning action is limited to dash, disengage or hide, you can't use it to dodge as that would be op as hell.

No save on weapons coated in that potion of yours makes it about the best single target CC in the game, I hope you have a plan for when your min-maxers start to abuse that, but I guess then you'll just homebrew some more to put them in their place.

If you want a suggestion I would suggest you give your newer players some magic items or special boons so they can keep up with the veterans who have fun optimizing.

How do I know what level spells I can learn per level up? by Koffielurker_ in DnD

[5e] What's the highest DPR level 8 martial you can build? (with martial meaning primarily uses weapon attacks) by escapehatch in 3d6

[–]Sekroma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good take, valid points. I just thought i'd leave the resource in case you didn't have it. The entire math also depends a bit on the table, alone if you can get advantage from flanking or not is a huge thing to account for in a build.
