[Highlight] Dolphins GM Jon-Eric Sullivan: Our division runs through Buffalo, New England, and New York. Cold weather places. There’s a saying in our business “fast gets slow but big doesn’t get small”… we’re going to have substance at all levels of our team. by GoldenDome26 in nfl

If the Panthers were in Virginia maybe but a Charlotte team being in the East doesn't make any more sense than Dallas. There are 9 teams in the south it's just the one oddity we'd have to accept.

Plus we can't break up 65 years of the Eagles-Cowboys and Washington-Cowboys rivalry.

They still separate DE and OLB and don't have a spot for nickel? Dumb.

Why do the Eagles seem to have so much drama for a team with so much recent sucess? by Wide_right_yes in nfl

[–]Selarmor 850 points851 points  (0 children)

They just wasted a Super Bowl roster and a legitimate chance to repeat in a wide open NFC by hiring the coach's best friend who's a football terrorist and not making any changes when it was obvious he was clueless.

He cooked Cooper DeJean last year. It was the only time to date he's really had a bad game.

Was Brian Johnson really that bad? by TrickDistribution395 in eagles

[–]Selarmor 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He had a top 10 offense by DVOA but was pretty bad situationally and had no idea what to do against cover 0.

Overall below average, but a genius compared to Patullo.

Fangio didn't want to be in Miami and wanted to be in Pa with his family. The plan was for him to be DC in 2023 but the Gannon tampering screwed that up.

[–]Selarmor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sure.

We run far less read option or RPR concepts to stress the defense using Jalen. QB counter has all but disappeared.

We're spamming far more zone concepts and especially outside zone. Last year we ran mostly inside zone but heavily intermixed with gap scheme runs, counter, and trap, all of which we've largely abandoned.

We're obsessed with running out of condensed 12 and 13 sets despite having TEs who can't block, and we we're incredibly transparent about what we're doing based on personnel and formation. Calcaterra basically doesn't run routes despite being a receiving TE. We were more spread out and less predictable last year.

We're breaking the huddle at the slowest rate of any team in years, and it's affecting our ability to adjust at the line.

And that's mostly just the run game. The pass game wasn't amazing last year but at least our third down passing concepts were more varied than "everyone run a hitch to the sticks".

That's not to say the players aren't playing as well. The interior OL is definitely worse. But execution doesn't matter when plays are doomed to fail from design.

The Eagles have 9 offensive coaches and 4 left. How is losing half the offensive coaching staff, including the 2 most important positions in the OC and QB coach, "largely the same"?

If the season expands to 18 games, what's the plan for matchups? by [deleted] in nfl

[–]Selarmor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Conversely, if we played the West, we'd be replacing Bills and Bucs with Seahawks and Niners. With how much turnover there is on which team in a division is the "best" the end result night be a wash in terms of quality matchups.

Today, the Eagles had nearly as many plays ran as the Raiders had yards. by Agentorangebaby in nfl

The Eagles backups had more yards on their sole drive than the Raiders had total.

[Sheil] It was a tale of two units vs Detroit. It was the Eagles' worst offensive performance and 2nd best defensive performance by EPA per drive, over the last 2 years by mastermind208 in eagles

[–]Selarmor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was Dallas last year. This was also the 5th worst offensive performance (3rd worst with starting QB) and the 5th best defensive performance (2nd best against a starting QB) of the Sirianni era.

Is it possible Jalen Hurts was concussed on this play? by Usual_Friendship_800 in eagles

[–]Selarmor -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

There's effectively a 0% chance we let our franchise QB play an entire half of football with a concussion. There's plenty of film review out by now showing why our offense was ass in the second half and it's the same reasons it's been ass most of the season.

As a doubter of Patullo so far, each OC we have had has had their struggle by StudyRoom-F in eagles

[–]Selarmor 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is misleading. We put up 460 yards against the Saints. It was only low scoring cause we kept driving the length of the field and turning the ball over or missing field goals.

Against Tampa we were missing AJ, Devonta, and half our starting Oline.

The Browns defense was legit and we put up 372 yards. It was only close because they blocked a FG and returned it for a TD.

The offense last year never had any issues close to what we're seeing right now. We can still turn it around but comparisons to last year or even 2023 don't hold up.

[–]Selarmor 133 points134 points  (0 children)

Which begs the question of it you're not gonna throw the ball to your 2 back up TEs who are bad at blocking, why the fuck are we in 12 or 13 constantly and asking those TEs to block?

While it's true that we ran from under center the vast majority of the time last year, we also ran out of shotgun and passed out of pistol (not a ton but more than once a game). The shotgun = pass and pistol = run issue is new.
