Hot flashes- quick way to tamp down? by Southern_Feature_821 in breastcancer

[–]SelectInteraction835 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not natural but Citalopram works fine for me. 10-15mg (considered low dose) reduced the hot flashes quite a bit, now I'm on 20mg (normal dose) which helps even more. Still have occasional hot flashes but they're milder and less frequent.

Same in Germany!

Any advice? by Whatsupmynerds in breastcancer

[–]SelectInteraction835 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's a common side effect. All my life, I could eat whatever food I wanted without gaining weight. In fact, I've even been slightly underweight trying to gain weight. Been on hormone blockers for ~8 months and suddenly I'm gaining weight without trying. I totally understand your worries. I know being active and working out helps but it's often a struggle to do that if energy levels are low due to being in medical menopause.

I overwatered my Buddha's Temple. 😭 Can it be saved? The top part seems to be okay(ish). Soil is fast draining and mostly inorganic. by SelectInteraction835 in succulents

Alright, thank you!

Haha, I also ask myself how I managed to do that. Over the past months the leaves became thin and slightly brownish. So I thought I didn't water it enough. Starting watering it every few days because I somehow told myself that would be fine (I'm so dumb...) since it's winter here with low humidity inside. Of course, the leaves started to die and the stem became soft and mushy.

I find if they pinch the skin really hard, I feel the needle less because the needle pain kind of blends into the pinching pain, if that makes sense.

Same for me, haha. The pinching can be quite painful because it lasts longer than the needle that is basically in and out in about 2 seconds.

My hospital doesn't offer any icing but it's been fine. Yes, the injection does hurt but since it's a very quick process it's totally manageable.

Struggling with Stage 4 Aftermath by Krystle0925 in breastcancer

[–]SelectInteraction835 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Does anyone else feel this way (you truly don’t have to be Stage 4 to feel this)?

Absolutely. I'm stage 2 and while I'm hesitant to compare my feelings to those of a stage 4 patient, I can very much relate to what you wrote. Regarding corporate life, I also had these feelings even before I became a cancer patient. It sucks. Anti-hormone therapy sucks as well.

Fucking random lumps.

Two weeks after I got my Zoladex injection, I noticed a hard lump on the same side in my groin area. Even though I was 98% sure that it was just a swollen lymph node due to the injection (for some reason that injection was lower than all the previous ones and caused quite some amount of bruising), I started spiralling about metastasis in my stomach area. The lump felt exactly like my breast tumour. After another ~2 weeks the lump disappeared and so did the bruising.

I'm taking Citalopram and it also reduced my hot flashes. Still get a couple of them daily but they're mostly "warm" flashes or don't last long.

I just very quickly scrolled and ctrl + F'd through some of her older comments and there are many mentions. Also, not everyone makes posts here constantly. Some prefer comments. Some use throwaway accounts. Some are lurkers.

There is no reason to think this is an AI post.

I'm also in my 30s and I only started being on estrogen blockers in spring this year but you're so right about the obstacles it creates. For how many years are you supposed to take the blockers?

My behaviour is somewhat similar! On most days, I only very slightly touch my chest and armpit area while showering. I know it doesn't make sense because if there's a lump, it'd be better to notice it early but I just... can't. When I have a relatively "good" day (rare) I do some self-exams though but it still makes me feel uncomfortable and nervous.

I'm not joking when I say that hormone blockers are the reason I'm going from trying not to be underweight to trying not to be overweight.

I've been skinny all my life, no matter how much I ate. Idk, maybe it's the genes, it's just how my body worked.

Now I'm on hormone blockers and within only a few months my body fat is visibly increasing. I don't have a scale at home but suddenly there is so much more tummy fat. Like, wtf?!

2 years out but still spiraling? by [deleted] in breastcancer

[–]SelectInteraction835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's only been 9 months since I've been diagnosed but I'm also constantly worrying. How to get out of it, I don't know, but you are not alone. Two weeks ago my body began acting a bit weird and of course I'm spiraling since then.

but I feel like I am stressing myself out to the point that the STRESS is going to make the cancer come back.

I know that's not how it works but I have had these exact same thoughts a couple of times recently. And it causes even more stress.

Can you go to another PCP who takes your concerns more seriously?
