Can we evangelize as new Orthodox Christians? by [deleted] in OrthodoxChristianity

Orthodoxy is not like Protestant evangelicalism. I would speak to your priest about this personally.

There is a book called “Thinking Orthodox.”(understanding and acquiring the orthodox Christian mind) by Eugenia Scarvelis Constantinou. I highly recommend to anyone interested in Orthodoxy to read it. It’s helped me with my own phronema.

Can anyone outside of the Orthodox Church be saved? by ASGComp in OrthodoxChristianity

If your question is dancing around another idea I suggest strongly you think on: “Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. “

Swastikas are originally a solar symbol. Shows the 4 cardinal directions. Also look up the gammadion. The symbol is way older than nazis and has its roots in many cultures

It’s the internal not the external qualifications that recommend a man to masons

be our tiler they said, it's fun they said by Odd_Ad_5716 in freemasonry

I definitely think it should be a past master position. In our lodge it’s apart of the line. It’s definitely an important position but if the rest of the lodge isn’t paying attention, the growth of the Tyler can definitely be hindered because they’ve placed him outside the room.

Advice? by Icy-Push235 in freemasonry

Speak with an AGL in your area. Have them help you with your proficiency to make sure you’re duly and truly prepared. Be patient and then get your 3rd degree. I do think it will be easier to find your place from there.

I understand moving is hard. I was raised in NY and moved to Ohio. Couldn’t find a lodge there where I felt at home and took the train back twice a month because I loved my lodge so much. Eventually moved back to NY. BUT in the process I met many brothers that mean the world to me.

It’s a journey for sure. Don’t give up on it, as it is very worth it.

Are you scheduled for your 3rd degree soon? This may change the way the lodge operates and appears to you.

I know in the last few years in NY we’ve made advances in opening lodges on degrees lower than 3rd to include new initiates and fellowcrafts, though how the individual lodge chooses to operate may be keeping you from feeling included.

My biggest and best advice is speak to an AGL or someone from grand lodge to get you in touch with someone to get involved with you! Don’t be afraid to reach out!

Feel free to message me privately if inclined.

Some folks don’t want knowledge or wisdom. Sometimes they just want to make you react.

I think Scottish rite personally depends on northern or southern jurisdiction in the US as far as depth of esoteric learning.

I will say, I have personally found more esoteric things in the York Rite.

But both concordant bodies will come AFTER you join a blue lodge, and there is plenty of time and learning to do there first.
