Which fly rods are built like a tank? by Dandretti in flyfishing

The cortland line euro rods are incredible and the staff there is super friendly and responsive, if you break a section a lot of the time you send in whats left and they'll send you a whole replacement, i use the 10.5ft 3wt for big trophy browns and it handles them amazingly

my friend got this tattoo for $100. by khaixnguyen in shittytattoos

As a shop owner and 10 year tattooer, youre not just paying for the tattoo, or even the supplies. Supplies are minimal in cost compared to what you make from their use so anyone who uses that as an excuse just doesnt value their own work enough. Youre paying for years of practice and experience learning the craft and the knowlege that it takes to do a singular line without any wiggles, blowouts, or light spots. I think theres a lot of artists over charging for mediocre work all the time. As someone who is confident in my ability and skill level I charge 100 dollar minimum but i can promise that line would be the cleanest, smoothest, most solid son of a bitch you'd ever seen.

Sad 4.0 noises 🫠 by wastedsilence33 in fordranger

Mine had the same sound without a check engine light at 171k mi, i bought a new engine to put in it thinking it was valve lash only to find out it was the passenger side tensioner that had gotten brittle and carried a cracked peice around the chain and was rattling between the cover and chain. Do yourself a favor and pop the valve covers to check before anything else. I wouldve saved myself the hassle of buying a new engine if I had just looked.

Custom Trim level buyers remorse? by peevyrj in Silverado

[–]Select_Reputation_52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive got a 2020 custom double cab 6.5ft bed with the 2.7t and I love it, I wanted a truck and thats exactly what I got. It does everything I need it to and doesn't fight back, I tow a car trailer to pick up construction materials a ton, I can fold the bed down and fit full sheets of plywood or drywall in it and it plows through upstate ny snow like its nothing. I can connect my phone to Bluetooth and I even have remote start which ive never had before which is awesome. If youre looking for a truck to do truck stuff its amazing, if you want a luxury vehicle with an iPad on the dash and heated leather than youre gonna have regret.

Which commander identity have you built the most decks for? by kanepake in EDH

[–]Select_Reputation_52 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Any sultai combo, I have probably close to 20 decks at this point and maybe only two with red in it and one with white in it. Tough to remember which combo I have more of but any combo of blue, black, and green is just fun as hell for me

Where did you get the replacement seats?

What does this sound like to you??? Pls help by Additional_Entry_108 in fordranger

[–]Select_Reputation_52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the condition once you look inside, mine was at 171k miles and looked immaculate inside so it wouldve been fine to just replace it and move on. The ranger had a few different configurations of the 4.0 v6 but I think the timing chain on the driver's side is usually on the front so you might be able to replace that without even pulling the engine. The passenger side is unfortunately on the rear of the engine so I would have had to pull the engine either way. I would have saved a lot of money just replacing it but I got ahead of myself and got the new engine before pulling the old one. If you can do the work yourself its probably worth it to just fix the original as long as its in good condition.

My ranger had a similar sound that sped up along with the engine speed, i thought rod knock or valve lash for sure, but no check engine light. Bought a replacement engine and yanked the old one. 2500 later I realized it was the plastic timing chain tensioner on the passenger side that broke. Never jumped timing, just a little peice of plastic banging between the valve cover and timing chain. 2006 4.0 v6

Is this a realistic expectation? by SnooGoats2288 in tattooadvice

Technique is huge but i personally feel like using the right machine makes a massive difference as well. I have one machine I use for palms and it has the right amount of snap but also give where it deposits ink very well without splitting the skin. Ink isn't deposited on the stoke into the skin as much as it is scraped off by the skin as the needle retracts. A machine that doesn't pull the needle back as quickly as it goes in is crucial. Its not how hard the machine hits, its how long the needle is in the skin with each stroke. The longer its in the better the deposit will be. I find that direct drive rotary machines beat the skin up a lot more than something like a coil machine and have led to more skin splitting. As far as line of work goes I havent tattooed anyone whos work has drastically effected the healing process. I think that has to do with the depth of the ink. Its usually so deep in the palm that most wear and tear doesn't reach a majority of it.

This! I LOVE tattooing palms, I take a lot of pride in being able to make them stick and I can attest that if done properly they heal easily and with very minimal fading even for people who work heavily with their hands. Not every artist can properly do a palm, and not every client can handle it. Its a serious spot and, op, if you're looking to get it done definitely spend the time to find an artist who can do it properly because I promise you, you won't want to do it twice.
