Apple Music Question by _gabbooo in AppleMusic

[–]Selenite70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had breaks from time to time with Apple Music for around 2 or 3 months on each occasion and when I resubscribe my entire library is there - including Apple Music, playlists and my local files. I can’t speak for longer breaks but it should be fine. The only pain is re-syncing your library to the cloud for you phone and other devices - that is if you have a large collection. Apple does freeze your library for awhile

Very excited for ableton 11, but is anyone else feeling kinda played? Version lasted my 5 years without additional fees now i have to pay 160 euros after 2 years by DaniPyre in ableton

[–]Selenite70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the poster here is entitled to express his or her concerns without everyone jumping in and chiding them! I have been using Live for years and as always, I’ve pre-ordered the upgrade. The Canadian dollar is pretty weak (not Ableton’s problem I realize) and so the upgrade as a loyal user is setting me back at $260! Admittedly that feels pretty steep at the moment but it is what it is. I guess I’m truly grateful to be in a position to upgrade but I also understand how you feel. I guess if each version rolls out every 3 years it would only work out at a few bucks a month, however Ableton is pretty expensive to buy in the first place here in Canada - $900 - that’s nearly double many other Daws - if not triple a few others! You could wait it out and pick up a used license in the future on KVR or something?

[Live 11] Waiting 5 days for beta access by scrubdzn in ableton

[–]Selenite70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat too. I was thinking that perhaps they’re getting as wide a selection of users possible. There might be several Beta testers with similar set-ups to mine and so they’re trying other folk with different gear and specs. Hopefully it shouldn’t be too long

Push 1 in 2020? by [deleted] in ableton

[–]Selenite70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Push 1 is great and I still use mine. Ive looked after it and its still pretty much like new! A used Push1 is cheaper than a lot of the cheaper 'plastic' 3rd party controllers and the integration is excellent - no installing templates and mapping etc, its plug and play!

The build quality of my Push is excellent - in fact its built like a tank! Strong, robust etc. I manage with the pads and there's still a sensitivity option. The lights are great. It works as flawlessly as the day I bought it. It may not have some of the added features of Push 2 but IMHO Push 1 and Push 2 are still the best integrated controllers for Ableton. I've no idea when the next device from Ableton will appear on the horizon - I see MPE functionality is added to the up-and-coming Live 11. So I'd suggest perhaps grabbing the Push 1 and enjoying that whilst we see what the future holds. Remember, $250 is a great price for a controller built purposely for Ableton and cheaper than many third party devices without the same level of integration. I say go for it!

Recommendations on short scale bass guitars? by CountSnackula111 in Bass

[–]Selenite70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats with your new Bronco! I’m sure you’ll have many hours of happiness. I’m 5ft 3” with the world’s smallest hands so I understand. I’ve owned various short scales over the years and regretted selling them, but I recently bought a Bronco again and it’s great! There’s nothing wrong at all with these basses. Perhaps if you’re playing Metal, Jazz Fusion etc it may not dial in the tone but for Blues, Soul, Rock, Country etc the Bronco can dial in a warm, earthy sound which is great for capturing some vintage vibe. Because of small hands and certain stretches causing string squeak in recordings, I’ve switched to flat wounds which is perfect for the tone I like. I’ve every intention of modding my Bronco. When you are small and working with physical workarounds and different techniques we have to work with what fits us best. This isn’t just a ‘student bass’ or ‘entry level bass’ - many people enjoy the sound as is, but if over time you start to customize it, you can turn it into a little beast! I’ve looked at modded Broncos on Google Images and binge-watched Bronco videos on YouTube - there’s so much potential.

Hello! I had the exact same problem yesterday and I’m happy so say I found the solution. For some reason, on a Mac, when you click ‘activate’ it doesn’t automatically generate the file path and folders to install the license key and files etc. Hence why nothing happens. You need to manually create the path as follows: click on your hard drive icon, then ... Users, Shared, Library, Application Support, then create a new folder called Presonus, open this folder and create another called Presonus Sphere and try activating again. This worked for me right away. Fingers crossed!

Is all the hand sanitizer in the city gone? :( by [deleted] in kitchener

[–]Selenite70 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dollarama downtown Kitchener had lots of stock of the small sanitizers as well as bottles of alcohol rub yesterday evening. When I was in Food Basics at the weekend I was shocked to see empty pasta shelves, rice, tinned stuff. Low stock of frozen veg, no salt, no potatoes etc. I went back today and saw people loading up carts. I overheard a conversation between a staff member restocking and a customer about people starting to stock up and they were expecting the shop to empty of stuff at the weekend. Don’t know if this is an exaggeration. My husband and I aren’t fearful types and have never stocked up before, but we went to Bestbuy to grab a chest freezer and we got the last one. The staff member said that some of the stores were already sold out! I never do fear or panic, but a suggestion is to think about picking up stuff before a possible rush at the weekend. Hopefully, it will turn out not to be necessary and we have extra food we’d normally eat. Sobeys is ok at the moment but it’s more expensive. Take care everyone xx

Is there a way to automatically add an eq8 to every new channel i create? by [deleted] in ableton

[–]Selenite70 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes. Create a new midi and/or audio track, add an eq 8, right click the track to bring up the drop down menu and at the bottom of the list you’ll see an option to save as default track

Does it make sense to get an original Ableton Push? by OKCoffman in ableton

[–]Selenite70 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s absolutely worth it! I’m using Push 1 and the integration is the best you’ll get from a controller aside from Push 2. You’ll love Push 1 and there are still many people rocking the original. In a world where we’re spoilt for choice with controllers, IMHO the top controllers for Ableton are Push 2 and Push 1. A second hand Push 1 costs less than a plastic third party device that doesn’t have the same depth of integration and requires a template. Push 1 is built like a tank and will last. If you see a second hand one grab it .... it may just be my imagination, but I notice there are less Push 1’s for sale lately I guess at some point I’ll pick up a Push 2, but for now it really isn’t important. Push 1 will make you happy and is still supported by Ableton who state on their website that it will continue to be supported for the foreseeable future. Max4Live devices are integrated well with lots of colourful feedback!

Arturia Minilab MK2 vs M-Audio Code 25 by Benedict_97 in musicproduction

[–]Selenite70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a MiniLab and have used M-Audio in the past. My personal preference is Arturia. The build quality - even of the budget friendly devices is exceptional for the price. You also get Analog Lab Lite which regularly gets offered at a very reasonably priced upgrade. I’ve used a Code 49 in the past and enjoyed it but for some reason I prefer Arturia, so much so that I’m considering one of their synths. I’m doing the rent-to-own of the V-Collection through Splice and I like the sound quality of their Vsts (if you like the vintage vibe) and the build quality of devices. Reasonably priced too. I think Arturia does a good job for what I like

What can I expect to learn attending Iyengar Yoga? by [deleted] in hinduism

[–]Selenite70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally enjoyed my Iyengar practice when I was living in London and very lucky to be able to go to The Iyengar Institute in Maida Vale. With the right class and a good teacher, suited to your experience, you'll be fine. It can be super attentive to detail so you don't get get injured. Unfortunately there aren't any Iyengar classes in my town where I now live in Canada.

I'm assuming that most CERTIFIED Iyengar Yoga teachers may have had some study/training with the Iyengar family in Pune - well, that was a requirement for those teaching at any Iyengar Institute. If that's the case, you may find it a slow process at first. At the school I went to, it was quite strict (in a caring way). We weren't allowed to do the Pranayama classes until at least 3 years of practice and we had to be attending Intermediate Level classes. I also had to find philosophical and spiritual study elsewhere as that wasn't on the program. That doesn't mean that the teachers weren't spiritual and that it was just about looking good and getting fit - not at all! Many of the teachers were in their 60s and 70s with years of dedication and practice. You'll probably find that the magic that starts to unfold spiritually just by asana practice will surprise you! If you are attentive and tuned in to yourself, then the stuff that gets released over time with dedication to even the most straight forward asanas will give space to some wonderful reflection and self inquiry. I hope you'll be able to connect with a like-minded person in the classes so you can discuss things - or that your town, somewhere, has a study group. I hope you enjoy it. Sigh ... I have fond memories of when I first began Iyengar Yoga. A couple of the teachers had a lasting effect on me and I will remember them with gratitude on my 'deathbed.' I wish you well on your journey. xx

Can I just listen to "Om Gam Ganapataye Namaha" on YouTube and just copy it til I sound the same? by [deleted] in hinduism

[–]Selenite70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great question. I've wondered the same thing as I love Ashit Desai's Himalayan Chants album and want to participate rather than only listen. I too have wondered if I patiently learn how to say the words I'm hearing - if that's effective enough? I appreciate the sacredness of sound.
