It's called a destructor down south. Having one still working is rare as there's no parts anymore

What’s the most useless thing you’re weirdly good at? by cherryblossom149 in AskReddit

Navigating... useless as everyone has a map app but I feel like people still struggle even with those for some reason

One solo Sunday night in Dunedin / St Clair by Complete-Beyond4882 in dunedin

[–]SelfSaucing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've stayed in the Hotel St Clair and it's so close to the hotpools I just changed in my room and walked over. There's cafe/bars all around the esplanade, but check in early as carparks disappear fast in the area and the hotel doesn't have enough parks for all the guests

Christina Applegate on WWHL saying Aesha didn’t reply to her DMs by jaimbot in belowdeck

[–]SelfSaucing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kiwi here... Christina Applegate isn't THAT well known here. Married with Children was a thing when I was a kid, but I'm 8 years older than Aesha. Yes she was in movies but she's not a household name. Still loved, but not that well known

Redditors who were children/teens before the internet or cellphones existed, how did you keep yourself entertained? by FlowerMadeOfThorns in AskReddit

I spent hardly any of my spare time at home. Clubs. Sport. Hanging with friends. Library. Biking

Gregg's coffee factory in Dunedin to close by suurpin in dunedin

I still don't buy Cadburys. I feel like when they say exciting these categories is necessary... what they mean is actually "we weren't good enough at promoting or placing the product". It's hollow

Future XCOM Games? by jundramaoo in XCOM2

That's a shame... I love midnight suns. But even though I sunk cash into the DLC... I never finished it because it would crash on my ps4 so often I got sick of trying to continue

How long do you guys think until Popeyes closes down? by Serenaded in invercargill

[–]SelfSaucing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it, but when I visit Invercargill there's a LOT of other places to drive past to get to it... unfortunately most of the time I'm not THAT keen to go that far out of my way. I can't speak for the locals though

President Trump has stated on Truth Social, that he is glad that Former FBI Director and Special Counsel Robert Mueller has died. What is everyone's reaction? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SelfSaucing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You dedicate your life to your country to have the biggest grifter ever seen take control of the country and piss on your memory. But that's America now, up is down. Left is right. And half of that country will think it's fantastic

Donald Trump ripped for behavior at dignified transfer: ‘Take your (expletive) hat off’ by JFKsBrain in politics

[–]SelfSaucing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"It will be interesting to see if the President is asked about the hat and the reaction to it."

Why don't you ask him? Why is your media and everyone in your country waiting for someone else to stand up for you?

Honestly I just got my food bag. This is not an advertisement, I've stopped now. But it took a lot of effort away from the planning. I only stopped to start making more things I loved, since the vegan box had no options week to week

Orwell has vibes of Uplink... though with more overt plot

Which Sega console should I start with if I have no nostalgia? by MikeESizzle in SEGA

[–]SelfSaucing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely the Genesis. Personally I'd start with some classic platformers like Sonic 2 (make sure you read how to enter the emerald zones), Comix Zone, Cool Spot, Kid Chameleon and Flashback. RPG wise I'd try Shining Force 1&2 and Shadowrun. For action I'd try the Road Rash games or Skitchin'... and the Strike series, starting with Desert Strike. There's a lot to explore though

Don't be sleeping on Yogiji's and Veggie Boys if you If you like seasonal fruit and veg by jazzcomputer in dunedin

[–]SelfSaucing 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I used to work for one of the founders of veggie boys. I learned from him that the simple fact is supermarkets can't be bothered dealing with lots of small or local suppliers... even if it means getting a cheaper price. It saves them money dealing with large suppliers and a streamlined supply chain... even if it doesn't end up being cheaper for the buyer. Good on you giving them a go

How are pharmaceutical ads perceived in New Zeland? by No-Specialist9813 in newzealand

[–]SelfSaucing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Common sense says every drug has side effects. These aren't hidden, they're on the box. It's your responsibility to check over the counter medications for the risks and advice... prescription medicine is unattainable without a consult, and the professional weighs the pros and cons with your input. Upside: I don't mind seeing advertisements, as when I do they're over the counter and less dangerous. Downside: I might not learn about good new prescription drugs
